In California we've had them nest in our rabbits foot fern. Of course they were hanging high above the ground to protect them from our feline residents. There were 2 babies. They are so ugly when they first hatch. Hard to believe they turn out to be so lovely.
Thank you very much for this little visit with your bird friend. He looks like he has a light in his throat! I've been wanting to catch my eastern hummingbirds on video, but they're too zippy.
One of your best videos yet! Beautiful shots of the hummers. We generally only have Ruby Throated Hummingbirds here in E. Texas, I think there are many of these jewels in California. Very nice, thank you!
I love these hummingbird videos! So awesome! We used to have hummingbirds nesting in our tree at our old house. When I would go out to work in the gardens, they'd come "hang out" with me, just hang there in the air and watch me. One would come very close. One spring I saw what I thought was a wasp hanging around the front window, I looked closer and realized it was a baby hummingbird! I miss them!!!
You are so lucky, a baby bird!? They are curious, the pair owning my garden often come right up to the screen above the fuchsia bush, the cats love to watch and I've never seen them look SO alive. Every nerve end twitching... The bird seem to know it is safe, and visits the bush daily.
That is so awesome! The male we had used to hang in our front window and watch us. Very often we'd look towards the window and that little bird would be hanging in the air taking in everything we were doing. I felt like a goldfish! LOL The female was more shy. My sister had an albino hummer nest in her tree. It was beautiful!

That's cool I never even though they made a noise for some reason. I plan to go out next year and listen for them. :)
