@Viczey actually a 4K camera exists a long time ago, not too long ago. the problem is that it's size is huge and you will probably mistake it to a refrigerator, but before that 4K movies were projected using 2 2k projectors, hopefully we will be able to see some 4k monitors for mainstream users at an affordable price tomorrow at the CES2012. the other problem will be the size which hopefully will be solved with the upcoming H.265 codec which is scheduled for a 2013 public release.

@Filthylilium Because your mediaplayer is much more powerful at playing videos in a 4k resolution. Compared to the browser's built in Flash Player which isn't optimized for quality like that. Also your mediaplayer has access to much more computer resources, Flash in youtube doesn't even have access to your graphics card which makes video smooth. ,while you watch it offline you have already downloaded it while when you watch it on youtube you watch while downloading which makes it slower.
