  • Hey! I'm glad I found your video. I am interested in converting my 710 into open construction and was wondering if you would still be able to get those spacers and also if you thread them before you ship them out. If you do, what would the cost for all of that?

  • @nEiffelTower - KnifeKits still sells them as far as I know. They come threaded. You can order directly from KnifeKits (or probably other knife parts vendors).

  • could you do this for me?

  • Thanks for posting this! I was wondering if this could be done easily yesterday and I stumbled across this video. I may attempt this with a different Benchmade though...

  • The 705 model has been discontinued and I haven't been able to find one - any ideas on where to look?

  • @6425399 Keep checking eBay. I live in Canada and there is one combo-edged version for $100 that could be shipped over here. It's still for sale.

  • Nice Video and good idea! I dont like the backspacer of my 710, but your barrel spacers looks nice.

  • I am confused, in your video you refer to both knives as a 705. I just purchased a Benchmade 705-401 limited edition with silver twill G10 scales that look like light carbon fiber and think the silver open back-spacers would definitely compliment the knife, as it's all silver, except the black bar in the back. Please confirm the 705 requires the Backspacer/Standoff - Hub Design - (.140) Stock# STDOFB

It says it can be tapped with a 2-56 thread screw, does this require drilling?

  • That is what I ordered and used here, and it fit without any modifications. I had to drill them out to use the stock screws, though.

  • Very nice idea. I dont like how Benchmade made the spacers on the 710, because on my model it is not exact concised. Which size are the spacers? Where do you buy your spacers?

  • Thanks for the video. I got the exact same barrel spacers for my 710 and they also work well on the 806D2 and the Spyderco Military.

  • Thanks for the feedback. That's good to know that they work on the Military, too.

  • awesome video!, dnt know why there aren't more views! great lookin picture too
