This speaks to the song, the video, and many of the comments made here. Usual ill defined deliberately wobbly existential messages of situational versus absolute morality. On point 9/11 was bad, religious extremists are bad but then the message goes off point to imply victims bring it on themselves and then even more comments go for a merry ride against the western culture, who's god is better, evil capitalism, stupid conspiracy nonsense, etc. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Wake up!
All is perfect in this song except the voice and the false words of that politician, that makes me dont care about other people pain and suffering, and to dont even try to listen to this song more than once.

God!!! This video broke my heart!!! See the images of that day bring me a bad sensation :s What happened on 11/9 was terrible, and Im agree with what Mark says on the lyrics.
Great video. Your capture the essence of the song. The victimization of Arab Americaian and other muslim worshipping people was as dispiclable as the acts of terrorisms. You allow yourself to be swept by obsession and vehement partisianship towards subversive causes. It will be your own undoing. Finally, the suicide bomber are idealistic youths with nothing to lose. Only the dream of Allah and the gratification of 100 piable virgins! Otherwise they get brainwished in very impressionable time
if we think that a man in covern can mad that so we are very silly. this is mad in the big power in that world. wher is ben ladin and why thy not found hime. oh silly that world buch as lough at us .
I think that the text 'our desire to die is stronger than all your desire for life' doesn't fit with the video. Those people didn't want to die, they just didn't want to be burned alive...
I know it refers to them, that's why I think the video doesn't fit the lyrics in that part. It's like the video is saying that they wanted to die, like they committed suicide.
I meant that, you put the video of the 'jumping' people where the text says 'our desire to die etc etc' shows up, like these 'jumping' people wanted to die
@arthurock6 This Song isnt about terrorists, even if you mean it with your Video so, but the song is about the Human Race completly ^^ Humans are the dangerous Animal of all ^^ but a good Video ^^
no terrorists, no osama bin laden, just an invention! just bush to have more power, son of a fucking bich , us: open your eyes look to the leaders you will follow, that leaders just control everithing along of america (north, and latino america)
911 was a total inside job. there is more going on than what most people want to believe either due to "patriotic" pride, or they are scared. Either way, these illuminati bastards will fail in the end as indeed, true faith survives!!
i don't know what to say the video is just great. every part, and the music perfect, as well as the words. i remeber 9-11 so clear i wasn't there when it happened but i knnow people ho were, my parents were some of them.
omg this song made me cry its sad to know that a nation its still suffering... so much pain and disgrace thanks to those ppl that only cares for their own interest. Does It worth it?
Having faith is a good thing, and so is the strength religion can give people. Mark isn't arguing that in any case. This song, or any song Mark has written, isn't anti-islam.
The way people misinterpret the words in the holy books (mainly to their own advantage) is the bad thing: religion has been misused as a very powerful and dangerous weapon to justify crimes they commit: enslavement, murder, imperialism and such.
this video is awesome ..i don't know if EPICA wrote this song only for the 11th of September event but the lyrics fit sometimes with the pictures shown in this video...we will take you with us.........

I thought you said it's against extremism in any religion? So why does it focus on Islam and Christianity? The last episode of Christian extremism was the Crusades, and Muslims everywhere are wholeheartedly criticizing the terrorists among them.
I don't think the song was meant to be taken to such a literal exterme as it's presented here, other than to say "think for yourselves, have faith in yourself, you don't need reasons to be blindly given to you."
it wasnt bin laden its a conspiracy for the us to try to take over the world and also if any of you are religious it also could signal the end times of the world.
So , i think this vid. anti muslim.I listen rock/metal. Religions are same in the source of them. We dont need to compare them. And i dont believe "True Faith".Because every religion is True Faith for their believers.
Religion in like a drug used by tyrants to control people. However,I can't say that religion is always bad,but you can't deny that most religios groups do more harm than good and you CAN'T deny that killing others in the name of "God" is wrong!
I don't judge people by their faith, but I judge them if they hurt others and think it's the right thing to do. Btw, did you know that lot of things in the Bible are borrowed from persians, hebrews and sumerians?
First of all, sorry for my bad english, I'm italian...
I think Mark is against the Extremist, I'm sure he would never say something bad against a religion in general. He's trying to say that all the religions that tell us to kill the "infedels" are wrong. He wrote some lyrics about Islam because at the moment there's a big problem with terrorism. But I think he's an intelligen guy, and he respects other cultures as well. So I don't see him as the anti-Islam at all.
The thing that makes me the most angry is that people don't take a moment to realize what religion's consist of. People are imperfect and all religions consist of people there for of course people are going to make bad decision. Christianity does not claim that the people are made perfect in there actions threw Christ's blood merely forigiven. People will have free will and that never changes thats why we have people like Bush who abused the word evil for his own purposes.
Have to agree with you there. People judge religions on the fact that some have caused war and suffering. In Islam, this is only because of a small minority of believers. In Christianity, it was a mistaken world view, held hundreds of years ago. So many religious people want nothing more than a peaceful world, and several are actively anti-war. Please, don't judge the majority on the actions of the few.
these lyrics made me thinking that I don't want to be touch in any religion anymore. its just useless hope... I believe it helps some people, not me. But religionstuff like this, is fucking disgusting and pitiful.
Some times it's more obvious then other times but it won't change reality. If people wish to believe what this video is actualy saying that is fine but it will not change reality. If a blind man cannot see jail then perhaps to him it is not real?
I agree with you. This thing makes me very mad. I try still make this reply without lots of swearing. Now I don't know what to believe... This happened because of religion "blindness" by AQ or by USA government? lately second one has been on view. I really don't know anymore. Whatever it is they really don't give a *uck.
Yes I agree with Rofflecopterman, this song isn't anti-islam only! This song is an anti religion song! All religions are the same, the extremist of the 3 religions have the same bad though which are hurt innocent people
This song is anti-religion. Religion /is/ extremism: anybody that follows their holy book exactly as they're "supposed" to will be a murderer, among other things. Religion is extreme. Those who take everything literally are not extremists, necessarily: they're merely religious. Other people who are less religious may be less murderous, but that does not change the fact that religion is a bloody enterprise.
i apologize then, i misunderstood that part. I think the US is one of those VERY religious countries. It's unfortunate because Americans can be some of the nicest people i've met. But that overly patriotic attitude and the "us against them" attitude is not helping world peace. I could not put things better than what this song and John Lennon's "imagine" have done.
You are then still missing the point of the song which is about Extremist. Religion it's self is not bad. And ever one needs to have faith in something. And the US jsut so happens to have many different religions. Mark against Extremist with in religion. But that's not to say he does not have faith. Because if you have faith in any thing it's still in some way a religion.
the video you did is ok.. shows a bit of both sides, which is cool, but the end is clearly what made me dismiss this video. Why put the American flag when the lyrics are "by making up your own mind"?
Clearly, religion is in the wrong, on BOTH sides. I dream of the day we'll be free of this plague.
All religions (intended as organizations) sucks!!!
I believe that everyone must to make their own road to "heaven".
In different times, so much of those "houses of God" were blinded by power and money, leaving to make the things that are forbidden by they. And everytime stomps people and their self-esteem with texts that obviously never were writed and selected by divine hands.
So I'm in agree with Mark and Façade of Reality, Seif Al Din and Forlorn Hope (After Forever).
Seif Al Din that takes a shot at Islam. Or the Extremist. It's sad. Becasue the people who first started said religions most be kicking themselves for how wrong ever one is getting it. But that's what happens after 2000 some odd years. What the people first said get's so messed up that no one knows what to believe.
It's sad that people see islam as a bad religion. :/ When it has nothing to do with terrorism, nor with killings of people. Since it is forbidded. Extremist people, (wahabi people) like osama bin laden just use it as a weapon, as something to kill people with. They can say its the deed of god, but they are the ones going to hell. Good point Shakira.
You do know that this whole song is anit-Islam right? And it's about how those have have used Islam as away to kill other right? You also do know that Mark dislikes all religions right? You also know that the song Seif al Din is also anit-Islam. The whole point of the song is how the exterm side of Islam has taken over the whole religin. That is the Façade of Reality
I was going to watch this on the off chance that it might be an interesting perspective on the "events of the day" presented by an intelligent observer, but then I see the word "whole" spelled "hole". I think I'll pass...
I'm sorry for being such a dick... Seriously. You get so used to that infuriating level of stupid that it becomes impossible to ignore a simple typo.
That said, here are a few more.
Subjugate
strength
And now I'm going to be critical :) You could replace half the footage of those damn towers with laser guided missle views of 10 times as many lost innocent lives due to the same religious arrogance. I know this was your point, but those towers have just lost thier impact (no pun intended).
Great video, damn that guy that falls from the building, kinda disturbing...

It's not sad man, it's REAL.
People don't wake up for what's happening - our world is in a complete state of social and political chaos.
It's not Islam; it's hunger, it's the child dying, it's the poor people, the ill people, all the helpless ones.
And with it, the big ones who don't give a fuck for it.

I agree with you. This thing makes me very mad. I try still make this reply without lots of swearing. Now I don't know what to believe... This happened because of religion "blindness" by AQ or by USA government? lately second one has been on view. I really don't know anymore. Whatever it is they really don't give a *uck.

I have faith that the sun will rise after it sets. Does that make me a follower of Egyptian religion?
On a more serious note, Epica rules.

Relign isn't bad. It's gives hope to a lot of people. Only the people who use relign for excuses are the 'evil'.
That's how it was and how it will be...
--- Epica is in my opinion the best band ever, I really hope the LiveDVD of Paradiso will come out one day ---

religiao é o mal do planeta... deveria ser exterminada da face da Terra...
todas as guerras tem um princípio religioso, desses fiéis fánaticos hipoctras, q poluem esse mundo..

Yes I agree with Rofflecopterman, this song isn't anti-islam only! This song is an anti religion song! All religions are the same, the extremist of the 3 religions have the same bad though which are hurt innocent people
benji7121 5 years ago
This song is anti-religion. Religion /is/ extremism: anybody that follows their holy book exactly as they're "supposed" to will be a murderer, among other things. Religion is extreme. Those who take everything literally are not extremists, necessarily: they're merely religious. Other people who are less religious may be less murderous, but that does not change the fact that religion is a bloody enterprise.

Is this song is anti Islam really??
cause I'm Muslim I need to know :\

i apologize then, i misunderstood that part. I think the US is one of those VERY religious countries. It's unfortunate because Americans can be some of the nicest people i've met. But that overly patriotic attitude and the "us against them" attitude is not helping world peace. I could not put things better than what this song and John Lennon's "imagine" have done.
:)

You said all. =D

You are then still missing the point of the song which is about Extremist. Religion it's self is not bad. And ever one needs to have faith in something. And the US jsut so happens to have many different religions. Mark against Extremist with in religion. But that's not to say he does not have faith. Because if you have faith in any thing it's still in some way a religion.
shakira124 5 years ago
Shakira: i think YOu are missing the point of the song if you think it's just directed at extremists. REad the lyrics.

the video you did is ok.. shows a bit of both sides, which is cool, but the end is clearly what made me dismiss this video. Why put the American flag when the lyrics are "by making up your own mind"?
Clearly, religion is in the wrong, on BOTH sides. I dream of the day we'll be free of this plague.
epica30 5 years ago
You understood almost the entire video.. my opinion on it.
But I put the american flag in that time, cause I wanted to "say" that The USA makes a lot of people minds.
So this is it =D

All religions (intended as organizations) sucks!!!
I believe that everyone must to make their own road to "heaven".
In different times, so much of those "houses of God" were blinded by power and money, leaving to make the things that are forbidden by they. And everytime stomps people and their self-esteem with texts that obviously never were writed and selected by divine hands.
So I'm in agree with Mark and Façade of Reality, Seif Al Din and Forlorn Hope (After Forever).
ratonil17 5 years ago
Seif Al Din that takes a shot at Islam. Or the Extremist. It's sad. Becasue the people who first started said religions most be kicking themselves for how wrong ever one is getting it. But that's what happens after 2000 some odd years. What the people first said get's so messed up that no one knows what to believe.
shakira124 5 years ago
It's sad that people see islam as a bad religion. :/ When it has nothing to do with terrorism, nor with killings of people. Since it is forbidded. Extremist people, (wahabi people) like osama bin laden just use it as a weapon, as something to kill people with. They can say its the deed of god, but they are the ones going to hell. Good point Shakira.

thank you shakira124 your the only one that gets it
Jpsurwic 5 years ago
You do know that this whole song is anit-Islam right? And it's about how those have have used Islam as away to kill other right? You also do know that Mark dislikes all religions right? You also know that the song Seif al Din is also anit-Islam. The whole point of the song is how the exterm side of Islam has taken over the whole religin. That is the Façade of Reality
shakira124 5 years ago
I made MY point of view.. the music is only the soundtrack..But people can also have their own intepretations about the video... ;)

I was going to watch this on the off chance that it might be an interesting perspective on the "events of the day" presented by an intelligent observer, but then I see the word "whole" spelled "hole". I think I'll pass...

Sorry! I'm not american.. and it's right.. that was a terrible mistake.
One more time, sorry.. I already changed it.
