I think it's Natla formed as Lara, she blew up Croft Manor because Lara was in it, therefore it MIGHT explain the reason why one of the levels include Lara escaping her engulfed home.
It was a doppelganger that blew up her mansion, thats why Zip got confused and tried killing the real Lara in the first level of the game. He didn't know it wasn't really Lara. I would explain more .. but xD Too lazy :P

actually, there's a debate on the TR Forums on if that actually is Lara or not. If you look at her in the previous game, she looks different. Though in saying that, she has changed loads since the very first TR.

every tomb raider game made, is made based on a model thats hired, this model is known as "Lara Croft" and the game character gets modelled after her, the model goes to gaming conventions etc, anniversary and underworld have a differnt model that the lara croft character is based on, explaining why she looks differnt in every title

It was natla...if you watch the nxt trailer it shows natla returns and lara was in the mansion when it was blown up
