Why would the average person even need to hook up 20 extra monitors? My PC is a few years old, but ever since I got it the battery only lasted an hour - if I'm lucky. And I'm sure MACs suck on games too, but the bottom of mine felt like an oven every time I played WoW on a PC. It's all about preference.
@MaoiMeowi2 It was worse when I played WoW, for sure. I actually think it was that the fan was pretty much engineered to suck things up and clog, so it overheated regularly until I cleaned it out haha.

The thing about Microsoft is that it is not a bad company and they have fine Operating Systems. However, Mac offers more intuitive design, programming, a much smaller number of crashes, complete virus protection, ecologically friendly manufacturing, a great deal of applications to use for business and fun and so much more. Macs are more user friendly and Apple listens to their consumers and customers.
And iGuy, I'm not advocating specificly Windows. A PC can run whatever OS you put on it.
As far as mac goes- I've used it, but only for a short while. It's very pretty. but something prettier is how it looks as my bullet flies through a Zombies head while I'm playing Left4Dead. Can you do that on your mac?

If i ask you to do a Linux terminal commands or run a Gimp on PC. You will say i have to install Linux to use the Linux terminal and run Gimp.

I'm a Mac user for last 20 years right from Power Macintosh Motorola chip, IBM chip now intel. Macs used to have dos card as option. But I have used Windows on a Mac. The Mac price is very cheap now.
For me i have PC from dos to Vista from 1991 and Mac from 1989. Macs are worth for the money. Secret lies in the OS. not Hardware.
the power has to do witht he hardware, the apps are all cloned for windows, and the user interface in new windows operating systems is just as easy to use as a mac. when i was 12 i went to best buy and got to pick out my first computer... the apple laptop froze on me, the windows pc did not... after seeing how intesnse these arguments are a few months ago i went back to get a new comptuer and hte mac runnin leopard froze. the pc with vista did not. the apple lagged on preinstalled cod also.
You are lucky.Windows didn't freeze it died with blue screen for majority of the users while Macs were using Mac OS X.

actaully i found a flaw in that last comment i posted, nehalems are better at multrithreading than the previous i7 but have a .1x slower clockspeed... not a big difference BUT they run cooler than the i7 because they use less power, other than that why pay 200 dollars more on a nehalem when u can spend that money on a water cooling system and then overclock the i7? as well as vid card and ram...

I have tried a Mac, so I know where I stand unlike the most of us. In fact, I am an IT Technician at College, and I use a variety of different computers, hardware and software. I have tried Mac OS X, and all I'm saying is that the adverts lie. It is not a hell of a lot easier to use in comparison, it is less customizable because of the fewer sites that make skins for them. It doesn't do jobs any faster than a PC - and it certainly doesn't open any software that a PC wouldn't.
How are they better? I can tell you how they're inferior:
Poor file management. Long time macos users will generally agree with me that is Finder is crap. Upgrade ability is poor - especially in terms of vid cards. Of course, gamers are SOL on a mac anyway. Poor notebook design makes it much more time consuming to upgrade hardware on a mac notebook. Mac is the worst raper on upgrades that I know of.
Finder is infinitely better than Windows Explorer. Mac uses agree. Micro$oft took a lot of features from Finder and put them into Windows. They copied spotlight too. What does that say? LOL
Upgradability is awesome. I just slide the side of my Mac Pro and can put anything i want in there....memory, graphics cards, hard drives...you name it.
laptops by ANY manufacturer are incredibly difficult to upgrade due to components being welded together. especially on the logic board.
There is no setting for Finder that exposes absolute pathing, and performce is poor due to the great lengths Apple feels it must go to in order to insulate Mac users from the actual file system.
Upgradability of the Macbook Pro is NOT awesome. Why Apple decided to require major disassembly just to pop a new drive into the damned thing is incomprehensible.
As to your *ANY* statement, I can replace the drive, memory or wireless on my Lenovo by removing nothing more than an access door.
absolute pathing on any file can be seen with with a simple preference turned on. just because you didnt see it doesnt mean its not there. there are no measures that you supposedly claim that Apple takes to "insulate Mac users". anything to the file system can be done with the finder or terminal. the MacBook Pro has a simple screw and latch for hard drive replacement. memory is under the battery under a simple hatch

I guess you've never tried Linux, or any of the other operating systems available besides OSX and Windows. I had to use OSX for 4 years at a music college, and I have never come to look forward to it. It's "easy", which means it's designed to give you as little control over your machine as possible.

Microsoft allow the use of Windows on Mac OS X, because they know they have nothing to loose. Even if people started buying Mac's they would still be buying Windows on CD in order to install it on their computer - thus raking in cash for Microsoft. Apple wouldn't "miss out" if they allowed Mac OS X to run on a PC. People who already own a PC might even buy Mac OS X.
And Macs can make spreadsheets and text documents as well. Comparing what programs they can and can't run really isn't much of an argument anymore. It all depends on what field of business you're in. I know I have a Mac, why, Logic Pro is as good as it gets!

And a point to creating a Hackintosh. I do not condone such an activity because it is illegal (kind of stupid). But doing so involves messing with important files and thus I would NEVER trust it as a stable OS in that form. You can do that for fun and stuff, but point above.

I must admit, I can enforce this, my 400 dollar Quad Core and Edius 4.5 smokes over a MAC with Final Cut Pro. Fully HD/8ch audio compatible and stable as a rock. I'm not sure where they say that MAC is better on video, my experience with video editing on both platforms has been about the same.
Yeah, but you can always run a full version of WinXP or Vista inside of Mac OS X--native, full speed with no emulation. That way you can do your "security mumbo jumbo" in a sandbox on the most secure, most advanced, mass-use OS in the computer industry.

Ummm, no you can't? In order to run Windows within Mac OSX emulation is needed. If you simply want to run Windows on a Mac then one can use a partition editor. How is Mac OSX the most advanced OS in the computing industry? It being the most secure OS is debatable and it obviously isn't the most used OS...
I said "mass-use" as in OS X is the second most popular OS for desktop computers. That's not the same as "most used" Get it right. Second, emulation means mimicking the hardware. Since Intel Mac's use the same hardware with more advanced firmware, it is called "virtualization" You can run multiple copies of Windows or Linux inside each other the same way. Vista is a poor execution of features that Mac OS X has had since I switched back in 2002, that's how it is the most advanced in the industry.
It depends on how many must use a product for it to be considered "in mass use". The term emulation doesn't necessarily refer to hardware emulation. How is Mac firmware more "advanced" than that of a PC and how would that prevent a performance loss when running virtual machines? So you're saying Vista's implementation of features make Mac OSX more "advanced"? How is it better than many of the other OS's out there that are also fairly wide spread such as GNU/Linux?
About 5% of all computers are Macs & climbing. Call it mass use or don't, it's still more common than Linux among non techies. I do like Linux, to be clear. Google "emulation vs virtualization", hit I'm feeling lucky, it defines how those terms differ. Mac's use Intel's EFI which is modern. PC's STILL use BIOS which has remained the same since the first IBM's in the early 80's, with minor extensions for USB, etc. Google "Extensible Firmware Interface" to see why it's more advanced.
Running two OS's still takes more resources than just one, obviously. Firmware doesn't have much to do with it, but the way I phrased it, I see why you thought that's what I meant. My point was they're basically the same hardware w/ different firmware. Alot of Vista features are knock-offs of OS X's that have been around. It's ok though, they've always stole from each other, mostly MS from Apple. PC's would suck way more if they didn't have Apple. Competition is good.

They don't necessarily use Macs. Most major professional-end software is multi-platform or has equivalents on other OS's that do the job just as well.

Think about it, macs are usully made for media use, but thats not saying that pccant do that. There are a billion good programs for media use that you can use of a pc, 3ds max, maya, photoshop, adobe premier. Plus macs are expensive for their specs.
The worst part about PC's is not so much the hardware, though Apple's is much more well designed. It's Windows, straight out. Boot the same machine into a good version of Linux & it improves 10 fold.

Little details that make them so much more refined than your average Dell or HP. Just smart things like the way drives mount & connect in a Mac Pro. The way everything is streamlined as opposed to looking thrown together. Every part of a Mac has been carefully designed. PC's are a commodity, not much consideration goes into how the cables are routed or how efficient the air flows around the components. They're just average. Which is fine, but I prefer something more.

My fiends and I are starting out a 2000m2 venue in London which according to the 3 big companies which are not only investing in the project but also helping in every way possible, consider it "beneficial for the area". Why buy a Vaio in the first place? A mac can't run Windows faster through a virtual machine than a PC can boot to Windows assuming they have the same system specs. Also Macs are typically more expensive than PC's if you shop around (ESPECIALLY if you self-build one).
By the same token building your own PC is cheaper than buying one ready made with the exact same specs, so that argument is sort of flawed. Compare them with ready made PC's like Dell or whatever, not custom made ones.

PC's tend to get more software in specialized fields (or so I believe) as well as games. Mac's can probably run them through a virtual machine (e.g. Boot Camp) but I don't really see the point in getting a Mac if you're going to run PC programs often.

The thing about Microsoft is that it is not a bad company and they have fine Operating Systems. However, Mac offers more intuitive design, programming, a much smaller number of crashes, complete virus protection, ecologically friendly manufacturing, a great deal of applications to use for business and fun and so much more. Macs are more user friendly and Apple listens to their consumers and customers.

As far as mac goes- I've used it, but only for a short while. It's very pretty. but something prettier is how it looks as my bullet flies through a Zombies head while I'm playing Left4Dead. Can you do that on your mac?

The fact of the matter is that when MAC users are asked if they can do a certain task only a capable PC can do, they fall back on the old "we can run windows on our machine." Which I am pointing out is completely ridiculous because of the incredibly high price at which you spend for a MAC, you would end up running windows anyway

If i ask you to do a Linux terminal commands or run a Gimp on PC. You will say i have to install Linux to use the Linux terminal and run Gimp.

I'm a Mac user for last 20 years right from Power Macintosh Motorola chip, IBM chip now intel. Macs used to have dos card as option. But I have used Windows on a Mac. The Mac price is very cheap now.
For me i have PC from dos to Vista from 1991 and Mac from 1989. Macs are worth for the money. Secret lies in the OS. not Hardware.

the power has to do witht he hardware, the apps are all cloned for windows, and the user interface in new windows operating systems is just as easy to use as a mac. when i was 12 i went to best buy and got to pick out my first computer... the apple laptop froze on me, the windows pc did not... after seeing how intesnse these arguments are a few months ago i went back to get a new comptuer and hte mac runnin leopard froze. the pc with vista did not. the apple lagged on preinstalled cod also.

You are lucky.Windows didn't freeze it died with blue screen for majority of the users while Macs were using Mac OS X.

Mac user completely understands how exactly and all benefits a Windows Machines can do. But, the fact people don't understand is what Macs do. The main drawback was lack of latest games.
In 80's Mac used to have more games and apps. in 90's I used a G3,G4 macs and i also need to have windows PC for just games. Now I dont have to buy PC any more with bootcamp.

actaully i found a flaw in that last comment i posted, nehalems are better at multrithreading than the previous i7 but have a .1x slower clockspeed... not a big difference BUT they run cooler than the i7 because they use less power, other than that why pay 200 dollars more on a nehalem when u can spend that money on a water cooling system and then overclock the i7? as well as vid card and ram...

I have tried a Mac, so I know where I stand unlike the most of us. In fact, I am an IT Technician at College, and I use a variety of different computers, hardware and software. I have tried Mac OS X, and all I'm saying is that the adverts lie. It is not a hell of a lot easier to use in comparison, it is less customizable because of the fewer sites that make skins for them. It doesn't do jobs any faster than a PC - and it certainly doesn't open any software that a PC wouldn't.

How are they better? I can tell you how they're inferior:
Poor file management. Long time macos users will generally agree with me that is Finder is crap. Upgrade ability is poor - especially in terms of vid cards. Of course, gamers are SOL on a mac anyway. Poor notebook design makes it much more time consuming to upgrade hardware on a mac notebook. Mac is the worst raper on upgrades that I know of.

Finder is infinitely better than Windows Explorer. Mac uses agree. Micro$oft took a lot of features from Finder and put them into Windows. They copied spotlight too. What does that say? LOL
Upgradability is awesome. I just slide the side of my Mac Pro and can put anything i want in there....memory, graphics cards, hard drives...you name it.
laptops by ANY manufacturer are incredibly difficult to upgrade due to components being welded together. especially on the logic board.

Nonsense.
There is no setting for Finder that exposes absolute pathing, and performce is poor due to the great lengths Apple feels it must go to in order to insulate Mac users from the actual file system.
Upgradability of the Macbook Pro is NOT awesome. Why Apple decided to require major disassembly just to pop a new drive into the damned thing is incomprehensible.
As to your *ANY* statement, I can replace the drive, memory or wireless on my Lenovo by removing nothing more than an access door.

absolute pathing on any file can be seen with with a simple preference turned on. just because you didnt see it doesnt mean its not there. there are no measures that you supposedly claim that Apple takes to "insulate Mac users". anything to the file system can be done with the finder or terminal. the MacBook Pro has a simple screw and latch for hard drive replacement. memory is under the battery under a simple hatch

No, they just use PCs to do their work. Apple fanboys, though, waste time to sign up seem to have a real hangup over being better than PCs, calling themselves "genius." I've been to apple stores. I guess you've never tried Linux, or any of the other operating systems available besides OSX and Windows. I had to use OSX for 4 years at a music college, and I have never come to look forward to it. It's "easy", which means it's designed to give you as little control over your machine as possible.
I'm definitely not a Windows fan, but my god, if you've only tried 2 things, you can't say that one of them is THE BEST EVER. You're also supporting a corporation every bit as greedy as the other.

It is not free, they throw it in with an extra $79 added to the price of your already too-expensive computer. If you do not beleive me, go on google, type in iLife, then click on the link that takes you to the Apple page.
May I add that PC's are quite capable of running exactly the same video editing software that Mac uses, its VERY rare to find something compatible with Mac but not PC, unless it's been made by Apple but they hate sharing as we all know.

Hardware being iPod, iPhone, iMac etc.
Software being Mac OS X, iLife, Final Cut Pro, etc.
Microsoft allow the use of Windows on Mac OS X, because they know they have nothing to loose. Even if people started buying Mac's they would still be buying Windows on CD in order to install it on their computer - thus raking in cash for Microsoft. Apple wouldn't "miss out" if they allowed Mac OS X to run on a PC. People who already own a PC might even buy Mac OS X.

You are right. Most of my friends spend all their money on the latest Macs and accessories and stuff, it's sad. I use a Mac myself, and have done so for the last two-ish years.
And a point to creating a Hackintosh. I do not condone such an activity because it is illegal (kind of stupid). But doing so involves messing with important files and thus I would NEVER trust it as a stable OS in that form. You can do that for fun and stuff, but point above.

I must admit, I can enforce this, my 400 dollar Quad Core and Edius 4.5 smokes over a MAC with Final Cut Pro. Fully HD/8ch audio compatible and stable as a rock. I'm not sure where they say that MAC is better on video, my experience with video editing on both platforms has been about the same.

Yeah, but you can always run a full version of WinXP or Vista inside of Mac OS X--native, full speed with no emulation. That way you can do your "security mumbo jumbo" in a sandbox on the most secure, most advanced, mass-use OS in the computer industry.

Ummm, no you can't? In order to run Windows within Mac OSX emulation is needed. If you simply want to run Windows on a Mac then one can use a partition editor. How is Mac OSX the most advanced OS in the computing industry? It being the most secure OS is debatable and it obviously isn't the most used OS...

I said "mass-use" as in OS X is the second most popular OS for desktop computers. That's not the same as "most used" Get it right. Second, emulation means mimicking the hardware. Since Intel Mac's use the same hardware with more advanced firmware, it is called "virtualization" You can run multiple copies of Windows or Linux inside each other the same way. Vista is a poor execution of features that Mac OS X has had since I switched back in 2002, that's how it is the most advanced in the industry.

It depends on how many must use a product for it to be considered "in mass use". The term emulation doesn't necessarily refer to hardware emulation. How is Mac firmware more "advanced" than that of a PC and how would that prevent a performance loss when running virtual machines? So you're saying Vista's implementation of features make Mac OSX more "advanced"? How is it better than many of the other OS's out there that are also fairly wide spread such as GNU/Linux?

About 5% of all computers are Macs & climbing. Call it mass use or don't, it's still more common than Linux among non techies. I do like Linux, to be clear. Google "emulation vs virtualization", hit I'm feeling lucky, it defines how those terms differ. Mac's use Intel's EFI which is modern. PC's STILL use BIOS which has remained the same since the first IBM's in the early 80's, with minor extensions for USB, etc. Google "Extensible Firmware Interface" to see why it's more advanced.

Running two OS's still takes more resources than just one, obviously. Firmware doesn't have much to do with it, but the way I phrased it, I see why you thought that's what I meant. My point was they're basically the same hardware w/ different firmware. Alot of Vista features are knock-offs of OS X's that have been around. It's ok though, they've always stole from each other, mostly MS from Apple. PC's would suck way more if they didn't have Apple. Competition is good.

Little details that make them so much more refined than your average Dell or HP. Just smart things like the way drives mount & connect in a Mac Pro. The way everything is streamlined as opposed to looking thrown together. Every part of a Mac has been carefully designed. PC's are a commodity, not much consideration goes into how the cables are routed or how efficient the air flows around the components. They're just average. Which is fine, but I prefer something more.

ehh also with a mac ur hardwear choise is . apple apple apple apple, which is expensive. but windows are too bugy so lets fo to the middle field, linux, works good(without bugs) can be run in the same machine with windows. the only thing u have to do is reboot when u want to use windows. or get wine so u can just simple get the windows stuff running on ur linux.

y hate macs? they r much more efficient than vaios, I mean its cheaper, runs windows better>.> seriously, I had a 2k vaio and it just broke on me, repair was 800 bucks. and yeah, u do look trendier ~~ lotz of ppl in skool got macs ~~

Why buy a Vaio in the first place? A mac can't run Windows faster through a virtual machine than a PC can boot to Windows assuming they have the same system specs. Also Macs are typically more expensive than PC's if you shop around (ESPECIALLY if you self-build one).

By the same token building your own PC is cheaper than buying one ready made with the exact same specs, so that argument is sort of flawed. Compare them with ready made PC's like Dell or whatever, not custom made ones.

The thing is, those mac vs. pc movies says that mac is as good as pc on working stuff.
the picture i get of this is
a good argument for pc would be that more games and software comes to pc and that it's easier to update the hardware on a pc.

PC's tend to get more software in specialized fields (or so I believe) as well as games. Mac's can probably run them through a virtual machine (e.g. Boot Camp) but I don't really see the point in getting a Mac if you're going to run PC programs often.

nah kid, theyre in different markets, ever see a computer with WINDOWS on the outside, besides in reference to the software? Windows supplies only software, Apple makes computers. Apple at the present is seeing a staggering increase in market share, Apple and Microsoft work together on software compatibility and have been friendlier since Macworld 97 but Mac doesnt neeed extra money to stay in business, just look up their stock AAPL
