  • you cant solve for y.. there isnt enough given information to solve for it. Thats the answer in its simplest of terms.

  • Note that the last component "7y +10" is an expression, not an equation. What you have done is generate an equivalent expression (equivalent for all real numbers y) to the original expression. You cannot solve for y here as this is not an equation such as 7y + 10 = 17

  • 7y +10 is already the answer. This lecture is about performing equations not solving for the variables. Get it?
