@sarno85 Make sure you get "NERITE" snails, as Apples and trapdoors, mystery snails, etc, aren't good for coldwater planted tanks. I've tried them all and only Nerites seem to do well and keep things clean.
Great lookin tank. From the gravle all the way to the crystal clear water. Doesnt look lke you have much filtration for those kind of fish. What kind of filter are you running? Why isnt any algea growing in the tank?
@sarno85 I'm running a 70 Gallon external filter, don't mess with the water more than once every month or so, and I don't overstock. It's basically common sense that makes a good fishtank clean and healthy. I bought a few larger fish since this video and the tank is still just as crystal clear (got rid of a fish or two of course to make space). I also have a lot of REAL plants which help keep the water clean, and some Nerite snails, and freshwater clams, too. Never had an algea problem. :)
@tdotroyalty No more than 1 to be safe. 1 Fancy goldfish. 1 regular comet goldfish (they actually need larger tanks as they can get over 1 foot long easily.) Fancies like Orandas, Ryukin, etc, need 20 gallon for the first fish. No heater, no Cleaner fish, maybe just some snails or freshwater clams for extras. Give them time, the fish will get huge! About a year it should be 5-6 inches if you buy it as a baby and give it 20 gallons. If you get a 30 gallon, you should be able to substain 2 fish.
@RyukinPrincess I have two goldfish in a 25 gallon tank. I just clean it very regularly, and keep good filtration to maintain excellent water quality. It's doable, just requires more maintenance than a larger tank. I do water quality tests every 3 days or so, and keep a ph monitor on the side of the tank, so I can check for any daily fluctuations.
However, if the fish I have keep growing (so far, just one has grown alot in the past year or so) I may need to purchase a larger tank for them.
@opheliamoonstone Exactly why I told the other commenter no more than 1 fish - as MOST people do not want to do as much as you have and clean regularily, take water tests, etc. The less you stock, the easier the care is - especially for beginners. The larger they are, the more waste they produce and fish grow rapidly for the first year and then slow down a little after that. Still, though, when the area is smaller, they won't grow as quickly which is actually a health hazard.
@RyukinPrincess the only thing that can stunt growth is poor nutrition and water quality. The small tank/stunted growth thing is a myth. Trust me. I WISH they would stop growing. Granted, I wouldn't put a big goldfish in anything smaller than a 25 gallon, and only with FANTASTIC water quality. That would just be mean.
@opheliamoonstone Well yes... but the larger they are, the more waste they produce - thus causing poor water quality etc etc... :P most people who buy bowls and small tanks, etc... are the ones complaining about having to change the water too often and them being "dirty" which causes all the confusion in the goldfish hobby as it is ... :)
@1Filmproducer Buy a new pump.. or put it in a cupboard or something under your tank... I've never had a problem with them really before so I don't know. Sorry. I'd suggest a different brand.
@irelandiscool123 Not sure how many Black Moors should be in your "black more tank" ... no more than 2, thats for sure... Anyway, I'd suggest : Hornwort, Saggataria, and Various types of plants called "Crypts". They all grow well.
@buritne : Not long at all - about a month. If you do it right - start with small/a few fish - it's really easy. I also added a handful of gravel from another (smaller) cycled tank I had when I started and it helped.
Nice simple set up

nice tall tank for the goldfish. I think the background defines the fish colors better. Love the ryukins. I used to keep a loach with mine too! haha
