  • i can usually take him only once, on tuesdays....

  • He is teaching a seminar in Superior, WI on Saturday October 25h...100% of the proceeds goes to the St. Jude Hospital...he is teaching there along with Shonie Carter, Marcello Monteiro, Joey Scarola, Logan Clark, and possibly Rodrigo Gracie.

  • Thats my boy Monson!

  • was the cameraman drunk off his ass or what?

  • Oh look, a little girlyman who wouldn't dare step on a mat but instead would post a comment because that is safe...coward

  • Monson is the man

  • Indiana Jones once fought a guy who looked a lot like Jeff Monson. Fortunately for Jones, a Nazi airplane propeller turned that bald gorilla into hamburger. The poor dude in this vid wasn't so lucky.

  • americanos no bjj nao e' ninguem!!!

  • whats the song in the beginning, thanks

  • nice filming, does the filmer have parkinson?

  • hahaha nice

  • Jeff Monson is a beast!

  • Does anyone know how much the snowman can bench press?? He looks like he could press 500lbs.

  • i think its 135 2 45lb plates

  • That track at the beginning is Ziggy Marley, from one of his more recent albums. I cant remember the name of it. I like this video.

  • I like this video. Does anyone know the name of the song when the video starts playing in the background? If not the name who they think might be singing it?

  • pepper

  • Moson is good, he's won ADCC a couple of times in his weight class. As far as the steroids conversation, I'd like someone to name a fighter who'e NEVER used them. It's part of the game for many many competitors. I like this clip though, I roll up at Gracie barra in seattle when I can get over there and have seen roll with some of the best guys there.

  • wjhy the fuck is it when people see a muscular bloke all they say is "steroids"!!! he's big through hard training!!this ant the fucking WWE!!he's a fucking awsome fighter! he beat fujita(the guy that rocked fedor!!)also he's one of the only fighters that gives a shit about the planet, show respect where its deserved!

  • ummmmmm sorry dude.. fujita did not beat fedor.

koshaka is the only guy thats beat fedor and it was just a cut. Fedor emelianenko-Win Kazuyuki Fujita Submission (Choke) PRIDE 26 - Bad to the Bone

    and here is the loss

Fedor emelianenko- Loss Tsuyoshi Kohsaka TKO (Cut) Rings - King of Kings 2000 Block B

  • rocked = term, not win. Don't be so quick to correct.

  • or my quick correction is is the truth. nice try

  • Um, they are both the truth... rocked is a term meaning hit (with any body part) hard enough to daze the opponent, cause them to lose positioning, or allows for multiple unanswered strikes to be thrown before they recover. Lots of people have been rocked and go on to still beat their opponent. Try watching the fights rather than looking up records... it'll do worlds of good for your credibility.

  • but fujita almost beat fedor he rocked him bad!

  • no one wrecked fedor...other than that i absoulutely agree

  • Yeah your right he's as strong as they come. Lots of hard work and lots of anabolic steroids. He is obviously good though. His submission game is position, point, then stall... Give me a break...

  • Yeah... except for those submissions, but no reason to let a thing like facts get in the way of a good internet fighter bashing.

  • i know jeff really well and patting him on the back is like patting a rock! the dude is solid!

  • Jeff is the fucking man period.....

  • i think he will do better against fedor than against silvia due to the size difference.(but fedor is god)

  • Fedor will be unable to deal w/Monsons power.Give Monson a shot at a real champion!!!!!

  • bullshit..he's got to come up with more than power to beat fedor

  • If he cant beat Silvia he cant beat Fedor. Nuff said.

  • Styles make fights. Sylvia won because he employed a good, if incredibly boring strategy, avoid the ground and use the jab. By the time Jeff was able to get the fight there he had been peppered so many times he had problems seeing and had little gas left in the tank.

Fedor is a GnP monster, but going to the ground with Monson is a dangerous thing to do even for someone like Fedor. It'll be a great fight, and while I love Monson and never count him out, Fedor is the easy favorite.

  • Barnett took him on the ground and dominated him .

Fedor would have no problem escaping Monson's grappling.....We're talking about a guy who BIG NOG the greatest submission artist in history not named Sakuraba could NOT sub at all .....

    Fedor would eat Monson alive

  • Big Nog is not even in the top 5 of the greatest submission artist in the world, in the context of MMA. He isn't strong enough or explosive enough to really force submissions on people and once your opponent knows submissions well and can strike to boot, you have to be clearly dominant in your grappling to pull of the sub.

You've got to respect his heart though. He'll put himself in a bad position to go for something and he just keeps trying to win. For that reason among all others I'm a fan.

  • I'm a big fan of Monson but I'm also realist .

Big Nog not a top 5 Submission artist ?

Name me five guys better than a guy who has submitted all sorts of opponents from Mirko Filipovic to Dan Henderson to Heath Herring to Tim Sylvia.....

The guy is 31-4 with 20 Frickin Submissions and you're calling out not a great submission artist ?

    Is this a joke ?

Not only he is the very best one but he is the most innovative and deadliest I've ever seen .

He is pure poetry in motion .

  • Oh, I'm sorry I thought we were talking about Big Nog. Poetry in motion, what? That is just ridiculous. Nog in sport JJ looks great but in MMA? Sure he got the wins, and that is the important thing, but if you want to lay the title as one of the worlds very best you need to do more than just win with a sub, you have to pull it out of your ass so quick and efficient your opponent can't mount a defense, or you link so many submissions up transitioning from one to the next just overwhelming him.

  • Wait the submission against Mirko CroCop who was beating the shit out of him wasn't "out of nowhere" ?

Ask Filipovic what he thinks about it, he is still wondering what happened to him .

    Maia better than Nog ?

the guy is vastly unproven at the top level and you're ranking him ahead of Big Nog because of Jason O Mac ?

    Sorry but No

He is vastly superior to all of these guys with the very exception of One Sakuraba San who is the greatest sub innovator ever

  • you don't know shit

  • He certainly hasone of the best mma half=guards I've ever seen. Effortless turnovers, and an insane arm-in guillotine.

  • Renzo

    Sakuraba

    Sakurai

    Sato

    Shamrock

    Aoki

    Filho

    Maia

    Penn

Now I'm not saying they could beat Nog, but if we are looking at top flight sub and position skills and the ability to pull subs out of nowhere or hit moves no matter what your opponent does to defend, these guys all rank equal to or above Nog in MMA in my book.

  • Could Monson submit Big Tim ?

Hell No, he failed miserably .

While Big Nog pulled out the sub out of nowhere (again) and a beautiful one .

Ask any MMA specialist and fan about Big Nog and they will shit their pants by just the prospect of thinking of another beautiful Nogueira's sub .

Yes Poetry In Motion, I'm sticking with those words for the greatest submission artist in history alongside Saku

  • saku

    sakurai

    shamrock

    sato

    aoki

all get the fuck outta here. not on nogs levle. the rest yes

  • Sakuraba has subs on the people who reinvented jujitsu. When was the last time Nog submitted a Gracie? Sakurai and Shamrock in their primes linked submissions together better than just about anyone. Sato with his flying armbars, triangles, and reverse triangles put him on a different level in the late 90's. Aoki has just as many 1st round submission victories as Nog has, but fewer fights total... doing in 6 years what Nog did in 9. I think that qualifies him as being his equal.

  • yeah he subbed royler after avoiding the ground with him.

he refused to go to the ground with royce and admitted he was better. shamrock said on the ultimate fighter his jiujitsu isn't good, he is a leg locker and brawler. aoki is good, but he isn't as good as nog. sakuraba best sub win is renzo.

sato got destroyed as well as sakurai in the abudahbi

  • I was very clear about subs in MMA. When Renzo's only submission loss is against you that says something. I meant Frank Shamrock, not Ken. Ken is a brawler with a couple of leg locks, all he ever was, all he'll ever be. Frank Shamrock in his prime was pulling off slick submissions and flowing from one sub attempt to another. He put on clinics back in the day (sad to say he is far from the fighter he used to be, more concerned about a payday and clowning around than really fighting).

  • Sak's loss to Royce was when Royce was apparently juicing, if I tied up with someone and realized they were way stronger than previously thought, I'd probably avoid the ground too. Why should any intelligent fighter go to the ground against another expert until they have the upper hand. Re: Royler - He avoided going to the ground before he subbed him... is that like he was for it before he was against it? It doesn't matter that he avoided the ground if he eventually subbed him.

  • Nogueira doesn't have near the credentials that Jeff Monson has in grappling.

  • nog has no grappling credentials at all at international ,but level but monsen is a terrible mma fighter, slow as a pig with no striking whatsoever.

  • @billysue2 eh? look at his fight with pedro rizzo, he lost but he showed good striking against a awesome striker. plus monson is way faster than some of the sloths like forrest griffin.

  • @MrFlyingMonkeyMan monsens striking is virtually non existant, rizzo wasnt great in that fight either. If josh could stand with pedro that tells you pedro is no brilliant striker.

  • @billysue2 well jeff has 3 pro boxing matchs with 2 wins and a draw, pedro clearly can strike, and barnett is a decent striker at the very least. go back to your brian stann nutthugging

  • if you really no jeff, this song matches him perfectly

  • Monson works that RNC like no one else.

  • But but Fedor is strongg as a DINOSOR!

  • That's not Ricco Rodriguez, that's my coach James Foster.

  • James Foster...Lotus Club? My coach is Marcelo Alonso.

  • shitty filming

  • very underrated monson, type of fighter that needs the right fights,,,,sylvia, total moose and a mismatch!like to see him fight fedor,i think it would go straight to the ground and monsons strong as an ox,although id give it to fedor!!

  • short people power!

  • Jeff Monson Vs Ricco Rodriguez?

  • no,it's from 05' and ricco is huge for 2 or 3 years now...
