thanks a lot for the great lesson, I am much much closer to get it right now...I would like to ask a favor since you turned out to be a good teacher...
could you please make a video explaining the very last drum solo?? (the one that goes along with the guitar solo)
hey !!! grandioso video , siempre tuve un problema con esta cancion ... y sin duda creo que ahora me sera mas facil ejecutarla .... una felicitacion por tu trabajo desde mexico =) ....
You, sir, are a born teacher. Excellent vid dude. I picked up the drums 6 years ago, (I need to put them down, there're very heavy) and had hit a wall, skills wise, until I found your tutorials here. I am reborn. Salutations.
@Graveltongue Thank you sir. I'm really pleased you found this video so enjoyable. Might I suggest a daily dose of vitamin DRUM to get your rhythmic health back together again...I have NO ideas what that means but I'm pleased you're back into your drumming anyway. Happy drumming to you! Rob
@ctuth Practice, practice, practice mate....come one, you must have known this was coming! ;) Oh, also try to maintain a loose grip as tightening up is part of the speed problem drummers face. Hope that helps a little. Rob
@DrumsTheWord Damn, I really had that coming haha.. I managed to get it to the songs speed now, but only on snare or toms... I keep messing up when I switch.
Back to hard solid practicing then, thanks for your quick reply and keep up the good work!!
Hey Rob, great lesson. One question: how long was "ages" for you? I'm right on the cusp of nailing this herta but I have to build up speed usually. Thanks for all you do!
@0509killer Good question. It took a good couple of months of solid practice to get it up to speed but it can take more or less time depending on where a drummer is at technically. Thanks for your interest in what I do! :)
hey rob! i just clicked on the link that says drum notation but it linked me to a page of how to play "my hero" not the tabs for this solo... :( i hope you can give me the notation :D
Awesome tutorial, great teaching. I've been listening to this song for days now. Please please do the drum solo in the later part! Many thanks and can't wait for the next part of this tutorial!
@HuGeEO1 Well, it certainly won't hurt to have a go. Take each part slowly and see how you go. Let me know how you get on or if you have any questions! Rob :)
@roryando hah, He's doing something he loves, so hes happy :) and, He's british :P so i love him.. Hes happy and british, and he plays the drums.. soo.. hes amazing
Love all of your video's, only been playing a year and have had no... 'real' lesson, your videos have helped me allot. Please, if you have time, could you do some paramore lessons? Maybe misery business? And the great escape by we are scientists as I can't find a tab for it anywhere, struggling on understanding how the chorus goes, everything else is gooood. :)
@JacksonKovacs I actually show you how to play the main groove to Assassin in my eBook which you can download from my website...but I might do a full lesson also. Assassin does kick arse! Thanks for your interest :)
@Lisa17989 Thanks for the love! The drums on this recording are high in the mix and played super clean by Grohl so are quite easy to transcribe. Also, my "drum ears" have developed over time and are now quite good at picking out drum parts. This would have been impossible for me to have worked out years ago though so I guess it also comes with experience. Thanks for your interest! Rob :)
Thank you *so* much for posting this! That herta lick is still kicking my ass, but this has been so helpful in showing what the heck I should actually be doing :)
@danbomber46 But he doesn't on the recording and that is what I'm teaching you in this video. Also, music videos cut together different parts of the song and so aren't always accurate records of what drummers actually play....believe me, otherwise my job would be MUCH easier! :/ Thanks for your interest and input! Rob :)
