I think Sally took to much LSD and Ectasy when she made this cartoon i mean i have seen Peewees Playhouse before but i think she had taken more than three times as much as Paul Ruebens when he did do PeeWees Playhouse.
@laughingsal does it? that's what I try to do an artist meself! :D I saw this once years ago at an animation festival, and it stayed in the back of my brain for a couple of decades now I guess, as something I had to some day see again. this one, and Make me psychic! <3 I feel reunited with long lost family seeing your work again.
The inspired don't need something as simple as drugs to create things that bend the walls of reality. The world gives enough weird ideas to the sober mind.
@Casanuda This doesn't even come close to comparing to the things tripping off lsd or dxm can inspire in you're mind. I'm not condoning drugs, but don't knock something until you've tried it. If you don't want to, great, but don't knock people for doing it. Cause they've seen things you can't imagine in ur wildest dreams.
Wait... How on EARTH did you come up with cartoons as abstract as this? I'm not trying to be offensive or accuse you of anything, but this just seems to me like something someone could only come up when they're on acid or some other hard drug. So how?????
@dragonholder411 I have a good imagination. The thing about animation, especially with a great track, is you can picture the whole thing in your mind, and then storyboard it, and it's as if you've already made the animation- the creative part is all in those early stages.
I have said this to you before, You are a "National Treasure". I have purchased from you long before there was a YouTube. May you live long and smile.

@JSBUnitedVideos Pretty much. I figured that would be a pretty pointless and dull thing to say with all the other comments making it obvious. So I didn't.
I just discovered this, and your body of amazing work in general, via a fellow I watch on youtube called rblueboy77. Combine some of the most creative and engrossing animation I've ever seen (and I watch a lot of cartoons!) with the musical style of Mr. Catchy-yet-creepy tunes himself, and I simply have to add this to my favorites.
rblueboy77 also goes by the name CR and also is featured on ThatGuyWithTheGlasses(dot)com. So chances are, when he puts the video you're talking about up on that website, that's pretty much twice the publicity Ms. Cruikshank will be getting.
I just love it. You have a lot to be proud of, Sal. I think the lizard really does look a little like Danny and slinks around the way he would onstage :)
I knew it! He sounds a bit like that skeleton dude from the Corpse Bride. =D
How was it working with Danny Elfman to make the music for your animations? What do you personally think of the music in your cartoon? (sorry for all the questions) XD
Danny was very friendly and inspired. He was just getting started with computer created movie scores and enjoyed the experiment I think. I love the music. It was hard for me to mix it down so the dialog could also be heard.
No, we lost touch. He became quite a famous guy working all the time. I did the cartoon @ss backwards, animating a big part of it before I had any voices. That's why they don't say much. The frog dude is the voice of Dick Miller, who appeared in many of Joe Dante's movies.
Outstanding creativity. Question for laughingsal - did you story board this and just blend the images together as you were painting the individual frames?
I storyboarded this song because I was lucky enough to get the music before the animation. In the cartoon Face Like a Frog, which this is part of, I animated before I got the track. It's much more fun to animate to an existing track because you can hit the beats etc.
I always thought that nobody before or after could ever come close to matching the spell-binding surrealism of pre-code Fleischer cartoons. Apparently, the Fleischers have met their match, if not their master. This is one of the best cartoons I've ever seen.

So, today I went to the zoo. I saw an amphibious snake-lizard looking hybrid; I completely forgot it's name. It even had a forked tongue; and slithered around it's tiny cramped little water habitat.

Trade-offs on the toxins - the jury is still out on how good looking into a glowing screen for 12 hours a day and fidgetting with a digitizer tablet is for the body. Takes up less space, though, and can be done from low-priced offshore contractor studios. And that is all that counts.
Oh, he is? I didn't know that. Oops. I really don't know about his current personal life. I was just being a know-it-all with something I heard somewhere on YouTube. Sorry about that.
I've watched several of Danny Elman's live performances in the last few days. I now see how much the lizard is like Danny in his movements and even the appearance. Going to an Oingo Boingo concert paid off. :) (What a cool way to do research.)

It's so cool that you got to work with both Danny Elfman and the Cheap Suit Serenaders. Great visual art and great musical art compliment each other so well.

Killer animation in this.

It's so cool that you got to work with both Danny Elfman and the Cheap Suit Serenaders. Great visual art and great musical art compliment each other so well.

I feel the same way, my favorite animation is when it's really synching with the music.

Were you inspired by Ralph bakshi? The animation in this is similar to some of his work.
