  • I recently started reading book and they further I get the more I understand these songs, but the thing is this song keeps playing in my mind, making me forget the story and leaving an image of feanor smahing Morgoth's face in with the hammer of grond.

  • 1 people fear the eyes of the Dark Lord.

    Epic song, btw.

  • Don't fear the eyes of the Dark Lord

  • even in 240p they are epic

  • 3:25 + Mega crescendo!!!

  • Comment removed

  • They never play it live because the audience would spontaneously combust... this kind of epic can only be experienced indirectly by those who are unworthy.

  • Someone disliked this song. They must be of the Telri.

  • Someone doesn't like this song. The must be Telri.

  • @TelevisedEntropy So true lol

  • The Black Foe of the World made an account and disliked this.

  • the curse of feanor...such a deeply desperate and sad song, but also with adrenaline...that makes me thing about feanor's sense of guilt and excitement for the new path he choose, guardians forever:)

  • Greatest BG song! everything is so fkn flawless! \m/

  • I heard that they played live once in Prancing Pony inn in Bree...

  • 1 fellow out of 150 is upset coz they never played it live!

  • Listen to the part when the solo begins at 1:33 it makes me start headbanging ;p

  • Binld Guardian, they are realy the Metal Guardian!

  • The intro to this song blows me away! One of my BG faves!

  • Best Power album of all time when i close my eyes and i hear those songs i travel to the first age !!!!!!!!!!!

  • BG needs to play a show with live orchestra and chorus!

  • The book rules

  • Anyone know why they never play these song live?

  • @AyabieLover20 Because it's too difficult, hopefully they'll do it for the BG Open air :D

  • @gazbg123 They must have been out of breathe when they made it lol

  • @gazbg123

Yeah, this would definitely not sound the same on stage.

  • @gazbg123

If they play it live one day; I think I'll leave the Middle Earth.

  • @AyabieLover20 copywrite infringement...

  • @AyabieLover20 copyright infringement...

  • @riotingferret what????

  • @riotingferret Why copyright infringement? o.O

  • @AyabieLover20 The best track on this album that they don't do is Noldor. When I saw them, they did kickass jobs on Nightfall, Time Stands Still and their finale, Mirror Mirror.

  • @timfortune9 probley because noldor's long lol

  • I love this band.

    I love this book.

    I love this author.

    I love Middle Earth.

    THIS IS EPICNESS INCARNATE!

  • Fantastic.....I am in the middle earth!....the guardians rule!

  • No shred, no classical inspiration, and yet Blind Guardian manages to be as heavy, if not heavier, than any other metal band. No other band can take you to their realm as efficiently as these guys. When you listen to Nightfall, you ARE in Middle Earth.

  • IMO, Nightfall is arguably the best Blind Guardian Album to date.

  • This song makes me want to kill my own family and generally ruin everything in exchange for three shiny rocks.

  • For my 18 years, my ears have been "blind" to real music like this! Thanks for sharing! METAL FOR LIFE!

  • The Guardians are simply amazing. No better way to say it.

  • great!!! :)

  • Amazing song from Blind Guardian. This song rocks from start to finish.

  • so moving..they can really put you to arda as if they came from there...are they elves...:)?..maybe they are....

  • love this <3

  • This is Blind Guardian. This is the passion I fell in love with. I just don't feel that inspiration in their music anymore.

  • @gringochucha While I really liked Night At The Opera, because I first got into BG with their Live album, I agree that a lot of the spirit went out with Twist In The Myth. However, hearing two of the tracks from their new album (from the Voice in the Dark CDS), I am hopeful that they have returned to good form. Voice in the Dark, and War of the Thrones harken back to Imaginations From the Other Side, at least to me. It actually sounds like the classic BG, instead of some new "take" on BG!

  • amazing job david

  • Damn this gives me chills, so much much power i love it!!!! there best song right next to valhalla

  • Whenever i listen to this song it gives me the chills!!!!

    What a great song!

    Blind Guardian I salute you!

  • Tolkien would be proud...

  • I would hope so, but I am not sure.

Take Frank Herbert (DUNE) for example...when Steve Harris asked his permission for Iron Maiden to release a song based on Dune, he said NO and the refusal came with a formal legal threat and a letter ""Herbert doesn't like rock bands, particularly heavy rock bands, and especially rock bands like Iron Maiden."

Considering Tolkien was a devout Christian, the simple fact metal is sometimes associated with the devil would maybe prompt a refusal.

  • Just imagine Tolkien listening to this while writing some Silmarillion spin-off story, once in a while raising his old, bony fists into the air, headbanging o.O

  • traveller in time is way better than to tame a land

  • Comment removed

  • @rogerpenna Just because someone's a christian doesn't mean they're narrow-minded. My mother's a devout christian and the other day I put on some Necrophagist and she found it really interesting.

  • @gringochucha

    no kidding!!!

gee, the simple fact I used the word MAYBE already shows that I am not saying ALL devout christians are narrow minded.

But most DEVOUT christians ARE narrow minded. That doesnt mean ALL of them are.

  • @gringochucha Dude, you can stick your "gee" where the sun don't shine.

    Cheers.

  • @rogerpenna Absolutely not! At least in my opinion. Yes, Tolkien was a devout Christian, BUT at the same time I daresay he was very open minded. Just *imagine* the boldness it had to take to write female Goddesses into a mythical world of Arda - the six Valier - in his time. Then some of the Eldar - Galadriel or Lúthien, for example. And then *gasp* even some of the mortal women, like Haleth or Éowyn. In Arda women were free to choose their own destiny (to a degree, of course, [...cont...]

  • @jouzinka

that was his fiction, based on old european myths. ANother thing is reality. Many catholic priests and monks do study and are fascinated by old mythology. That doesnt mean they arent devout catholics and separate strongly between fact (christian god) and fiction (mythology). Not that I think the christian god is a fact. THEY think god is a fact :)

Anyway, in the end, Iluvatar is like god, the arda and minor gods are angels, Morgoth is satan, the fallen angel.

  • @rogerpenna ... I'm not really sure what you're reacting to. =:) I can find other parallels with Bible. Fingolfin crossing Helcaraxë with the Noldor = Moses with the Israelites.

Only Tolkien disliked allegory with a passion, yet people are constantly trying to stuff it into his books. If he wanted to make Ilúvatar an ultimate God, he'd write the people of M-E to pray and/or sacrifice to him and otherwise worship him. The simple fact that he didn't speaks volumes in my eyes.

  • @jouzinka Unless you count the people of Numeanor who actually worshipped at the Temple of Eru once a year. It was during such a gathering, after it had been corrupted by Gorthaur the Cruel, that Eru utterly destroyed Numeanor and removed Valinor from the world, while making Ea round.

Besides the simple fact is that most of the people of middle earth haven't heard of Eru, instead men worship the different Valar as varying gods and powers of the earth.

  • @zappbrannigan420 Worship? Perhaps. But being aware of their powers and praying to them regularly, offering and sacrificing to them are two different things.

  • @jouzinka I have to wonder if you actually read the thing, Tolkien actually said: "And men have called them Gods..." implying that yes, men consider them divinities and have acted upon their worship foolishly, while those of Numeanor actually knew of Eru and worshiped him. Even Feanor took the oath that should not be taken by swearing it on Eru's name. The concept of the holiness of Eru is not an alien concept, and Manwe communicates with Eru silently many times, seeking his wisdom, ie, praying.

  • @zappbrannigan420 I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. As I don't see communication = praying. Likewise calling someone Gods and worship them as such are two different things. The only instance which I can remember of actually praying to someone is Fingon praying to Manwë to guide his arrow to kill Maedhros when he was imprisoned on Thangorodrim. Also, nor Eru nor the Valar ever *demanded* to be worshipped, unlike the deities that we know from our world.

  • @zappbrannigan420 praying is not communication...unless u get a response,which means u should seek help m8 :)

  • @MaRaX93 Thats an interesting point of view, I guess you never read the Silmarillion, when Manwe prays to Eru, and recieves responses then?

  • @zappbrannigan420 Manwë is praying to Eru? That's news to me too. At which part? I *do* remember reading that only Manwë knows (more like feels) the will of Eru, which would suggest a certain communication, at least one way. But I do not remember about reading Manwë praying to Eru.

  • @irimawen Reread destruction of Numeneor.

  • @rogerpenna [...cont...] but Haleth was valiant and she openly lead her own people and never took a husband). That's a daring thought to conceive for a writer from the beginning of the 20th century, I'd say, so... if he knew BG, I'd say he'd at least consider their request. =:)))

  • @XandaSuffield TolkienApproves.jpg

  • Best album Blind Guardian ever made!!!

  • @captain0redbeard

One the "must own" albums of the 90's!

  • SocialDemocracyFTW

    definatly!!!

along with Bathory's Hammerheart and Twilight of the Gods

  • Is. Is that Morgoth w/ the Silmarils????

  • This song is the DEFINITION of power metal!

  • Haven't heard this in years.

I forgot how thrashy this song was - LOVE IT.

  • thought they played at the BG OA festival but just loioked it up and doesnt look like it

  • they wanted to, but Thomen injured himself.

  • I know, but "corpse caught fire when he died" sounds badass.

  • Do they ever play this song live? I can't find any videos of them playing this one live. I am curious to see if he can hit these notes live, it is fucking high.

  • As far as I know they've never done it live. =/

But he hits some pretty high notes on the 'Live' album, in Bright Eyes and Under The Ice, so he probably could. I've always heard that they don't do this one live because it so hard on the drummer, but I don't know how much truth there is in that.

  • This is fucking worth of headbanging.

  • Feanor: So manly his corpse caught fire when he died.

  • His inner flame consumed his corpse, yes

  • So. Cool.

  • I love this band and all there songs but i really am startin to regret it...they keep introducing books that i feel obligated to read after hearing the song for some "Strange" reason. On the upside, they are all Badass books.

  • If you like this cd, you have to read the Silmarillion. It will give a whole new meaning to the lyrics.

  • WheßßßßI read this before this song. But when you hear the song and you have read the silma, this is amazing!

  • best book ever written!

  • you=ignorant

    you=naiv

    -_-

  • I leave mercy behind...behind...behind

    Perfect song

  • masterpiece!

i will take part..in your damned fate!

  • The Silmarillion is the book they based this entire concept album off of. I'm trying to read it. I'm on about the 19th chapter right now. It's extremely good, but it's pretty hard to read. I liken it to the Old Testament of The Bible. (Another good book :p)

  • Verry true. Btw I think what makes it so hard to read is that there are thousands of names. I soppose it would be a lot easier to comprehend if one spends more time reading the passages that describe who is who and where is where as well as the connections between people and places - like the Valaquenta and Chapter 14. I can't be sure though. Maybe I'll try this now that I'm re-reading the book.

  • Dont mind the names . Just read the story.. Important names and places youll have to remember are repeated and its prety easy not forget them. So just read the story..

  • In the last pages of the book there is a huge genetic tree showing all names etc.

A suggestion I could make is to make a copy of those last pages and have it with you when reading the book (better than constantly flipping over IMO).

  • Yep. Wait 'til you get to the latter parts of the book. It's basically the Book of Kings.

  • just read it again after a while, than it's a lot easier^^

    And again and again...

  • Yeah Blind Guardian kick ass , Ive seen them live when I was 17. And the best thing that happens to me in my life was singing the bard's song with the crowd
