The 32 Ford's weren't a particularly great car by any means, neither is the Civic, but they have both served to be a platform that has time and time again proven itself as an entry point for nearly every type of racing and they deserve equal respect in the world of performance motoring.

Nos if not used properly can cause a lot of damage, woulden't be worth it imo just to win a race. I guess you could say I have sort of a bias for it same as you do for turbos. I just love the sound, I love the sound of my own car or a Supra more so than anything supercharged/procharged what have you. I've always liked turbocharged cars in general though.
@TheOmegaeyes I mean permanent NOS in the sense of forcing your motor to work harder by external means(used loosely when talking about turbos,Im aware they're integrate to the motor).Forcing more air and pressure into your motor is not part of its normal operation even if designed that way, the turbo is merely a key accessory if you will. A supercharger is just like putting in a more aggressive camshaft, adds more power by built means. But regardless, everything is opinion really.
@SpankDeath unless you are creating boost you are in vacuum and that is the same as a normally aspirated engine,so no more or less wear than it came from the factory so long as you are'nt heavy with the pedal all day long everyday.

@60SecondAssassin1 Alright I'm going to break it down for you. Turbos are not SUPER expensive, the entire setup is. You test your turbo frequently by unbolting your intake and attempting to move the impeller wheel with your hand. if theres any play in the wheel, it needs new bearing, which you can figure out at an early stage if you do routine maintenance.. turbo rebuilds are not hard, either. You just need the bearings to be good and your oil line to it for the turbo alone.
@60SecondAssassin1 You said boosting any motor is asking for trouble, trouble causing damage, and damage costing money. Do you pay for your repairs with bananas? Cause I dont. The ONLY reason you could infer that a turbo motor is less reliable is because a) more parts to maintain b) more hp/tq and therefore stress is now applied to the motor. Factory turbos are less powerful (smaller) generally which is why you wouldnt run into problems as much as someone running 3 bars.

You are the typical Honda owner with their VTEC IS AMAZING and crazy hp/l facts about Hondas. Nobody cares about boring 14 sec cars. Point is like I said: when building a car, 3 choices: Reliable, Cheap, and Fast. Choose 2 because its impossible to have 3.

Dynos don't measure WHP in final gear. Unless its a power glide or what not. Its usually done in 3rd or 4th gear. Most people use 4th over 3rd because it gives the Dyno a longer string of data to plot the graph with. WHP wont change really in other gears

I respect any car being able to pull hard and go fast, I've driven my buddies subaru wrx and I admit it was fun as hell. But regardless I dont like turbos, it's an opinion not a fact that they're a nono. In the end though Ill be the first to say "damn that car is fast" turbo or not, but theres also that ricer community that think all american cars suck,theyre no better.

@SpankDeath Forced induction whatever source it may be is nice. I really don't agree that a turbo is like permanent Nos as you say though. Nos if not used properly can cause a lot of damage, woulden't be worth it imo just to win a race. I guess you could say I have sort of a bias for it same as you do for turbos. I just love the sound, I love the sound of my own car or a Supra more so than anything supercharged/procharged what have you. I've always liked turbocharged cars in general though.

@TheOmegaeyes I mean permanent NOS in the sense of forcing your motor to work harder by external means(used loosely when talking about turbos,Im aware they're integrate to the motor).Forcing more air and pressure into your motor is not part of its normal operation even if designed that way, the turbo is merely a key accessory if you will. A supercharger is just like putting in a more aggressive camshaft, adds more power by built means. But regardless, everything is opinion really.

@60SecondAssassin1 a k20 is not more reliable than a b20. you realize the b20 motor is identical to the b18 but w/ a greater stroke, correct? its all the same. b18s are very reliable and you are misinformed. any nonvtec motor will generally be as a rule more reliable than a vtec motor because vtec heads shear the oil. the reason you turbo rather than go n/a 4 banger is because youre going to sink 5x the money into n/a for nothin.

@60SecondAssassin1 Alright I'm going to break it down for you. Turbos are not SUPER expensive, the entire setup is. You test your turbo frequently by unbolting your intake and attempting to move the impeller wheel with your hand. if theres any play in the wheel, it needs new bearing, which you can figure out at an early stage if you do routine maintenance.. turbo rebuilds are not hard, either. You just need the bearings to be good and your oil line to it for the turbo alone.

The ONLY reason you could infer that a turbo motor is less reliable is because a) more parts to maintain b) more hp/tq and therefore stress is now applied to the motor. Factory turbos are less powerful (smaller) generally which is why you wouldnt run into problems as much as someone running 3 bars.

@60SecondAssassin1 Do you know that on the <4 sec 1/4 mile dragsters that the differential is done by the time they run once? the cam lobes are grinded down partially due to them beating against the lifters so hard and so fast. if they win, the car pays for itself, if not it dont. Point is like I said: when building a car, 3 choices: Reliable, Cheap, and Fast. Choose 2 because its impossible to have 3.

Dynos don't measure WHP in final gear. Unless its a power glide or what not. Its usually done in 3rd or 4th gear. Most people use 4th over 3rd because it gives the Dyno a longer string of data to plot the graph with. WHP wont change really in other gears
