I dont get it... the negative aspects of the GTA are the price and its handling. So the ultimate solution would be the 147 with the 2.0 l engine and 150bhp.
Ive driven all three and the Alfa is by far the most fun and the hardest to control. Love it! Cheaper than the other two second hand and in my opinion is the best looking. This is the only time I have ever agreed with Clarkson on Top Gear as well.

no they not great on fuel unless on motorway the best u will see is 30ish mpg
and they are built quite well, i have the 156 gta version an it over the 100k mark an still goin strong, if u r goin to buy one get on the AO forum, it really is a nice place to be

I'm gonna buy it one day - car is great! In Poland Alfas are pretty cheap because polish drivers just loooove ugly Golfs and Passats and they're afraid of big engines. So you can buy 147 GTA in price of Golf 4 TDI. My country is truly fucked up :)
PS. And I'm gonna install limited slip in my GTA for sure :)

interestingly according to evo magazine and much testing the focus rs was quicker to 60 and 100mph than the alfa 147, although to be fair there is a broad power range on the focus, some are 215bhp some as high as 235! depends if you get a good one i suppose!

@jamesadams117 it will cost you too much to keep on the road so what will end up happening is for all its beauty it will just end up draining your pockets. That's why they don't hold their value on the used car market. Nobody wants a car that spends more time in the shop than on the road. Your frustration will eventually make you wish you got something more practical.
@bronxboyXXX i bought a 147, its an absolute money pit....still love it more than the bland bmw 1 series i had before !! but it is an unreliable money pit but still best car in the class for drivers as opposed to motorists !
@lemonsnice I never owned a 147 myself but I can see all the tell tail signs. I too was a teenager once who fell in love with Alfa Romeos, Triumphs, Jaguars and a Mitsubishi Starion Turbo and learned the hard way. Now days if it Doesn't say GM or Porsche I'm not all that interested.

I like the tuning company Autodelta - thanks to them, you can combine the Alfa Romeo soul and passion with genuinely exciting performance. Making it a proper Alfa Romeo; not just a Fiat with a nice badge.

Incidentally, have you seen the Autodelta 147GTA Super? Has a supercharged, 3.7 litre V6, 400 BHP. 0-60, under 5 seconds. Top Speed: 180. Quicker than a BMW M3.

beating the m3 isnt easy.....0-60 is 4 sec and unrestricted will hit 193mph...the m3 is a good fast car...its the benchmark for its price bracket, and the benchmark for its class..but the 3.7 alfa is a special car ...not many people have got a car like that.

@1521joe I don't like what Fiat did to Alfa Romeo and Lancia. Lancia used to make amazing stuff, like the Stratos, O37 (last RWD car to win the World Rally Championship) and Delta Integrale. Now we've got the rebadged Fiat Bravo, aka the Thesis.
In the 50s Alfa Romeo was the greatest Grand Prix team of them all. Enzo Ferrari began his career there. In one race they were so far ahead the driver pulled over to have his car cleaned before crossing the finish line. Why can't they do that now?

There is nothing wrong with Fiat. Fiat fixed problems from the past with Punto 2 and newer (rust, safety, squeking interior, minor problems that bugging all the time). Even older cars like Tipo are very reliable.

@lemonsnice I never owned a 147 myself but I can see all the tell tail signs. I too was a teenager once who fell in love with Alfa Romeos, Triumphs, Jaguars and a Mitsubishi Starion Turbo and learned the hard way. Now days if it Doesn't say GM or Porsche I'm not all that interested.

@jamesadams117 I got a 147 as my second car and it cost me just over 1k to insure. Still have it; bloody love it! I've had it 3 years now though and I'm looking at the GTA ;)

I know it's an old clip but still fabulous. I've driven one and the body control really is as bad as they say. But in a straight line it's wild! And the noise...Unbelievable! EVERYONE. Stop driving boring cars, it's the law.

@alfistii1 Well, Alfa's owned by Fiat right now, and this 147 GTA is basically a Fiat with a big engine and a nice body on it.
Alfa Romeo should hark back to the old rear drive sports cars. I want an Alfa Romeo, not a rebadged Fiat.

@1521joe He's a lot better than someone I've had a few dealings with. If you think ALFISTI1 is annoying, you should look up someone called YouLance29. He'll go on any car video, and then say "ALWAYS REMEMBER THE ZR1 IS KING!!" Even if the video has nothing whatsoever to do with the Corvette.
I like the tuning company Autodelta - thanks to them, you can combine the Alfa Romeo soul and passion with genuinely exciting performance. Making it a proper Alfa Romeo; not just a Fiat with a nice badge.

his problem is that hes a fantsist with mental issues...and i actualy have that wich he desires...an alfa :))

You don't need to keep telling us. I've checked alfistii1 - he's actually made a lot less comments than you. Just an observation.
Incidentally, have you seen the Autodelta 147GTA Super? Has a supercharged, 3.7 litre V6, 400 BHP. 0-60, under 5 seconds. Top Speed: 180. Quicker than a BMW M3.

yes ive seen the autodelta gta...that work cost 19k.
beating the m3 isnt easy.....0-60 is 4 sec and unrestricted will hit 193mph...the m3 is a good fast car...its the benchmark for its price bracket, and the benchmark for its class..but the 3.7 alfa is a special car ...not many people have got a car like that.
actualy..not many people can afford an m3 neither

Lancia, Alfa Romeo...they're just shadows of their former selves. Thank God for Autodelta - they help them capture some of their former greatness.
I agree with you; the Alfas and Lancias today are essentially rebadged Fiats for more money. I hope a company starts tuning Lancias.

@1521joe I don't like what Fiat did to Alfa Romeo and Lancia. Lancia used to make amazing stuff, like the Stratos, O37 (last RWD car to win the World Rally Championship) and Delta Integrale. Now we've got the rebadged Fiat Bravo, aka the Thesis.
In the 50s Alfa Romeo was the greatest Grand Prix team of them all. Enzo Ferrari began his career there. In one race they were so far ahead the driver pulled over to have his car cleaned before crossing the finish line. Why can't they do that now?

@NobleM15fan Give Fiat time, patience my dear fellow! Don't you remember only a few ago, Fiat were almost bankrupt! It's going to be slow, steady recovery process. Already the signs are good! Look at Abarth! been revived! Ferrari are 'at their best ever' setting new standards in the Supercar Category. Maserati are doing very well at the moment! Fiat are making desirable cars again (500, Punto Evo etc...). Which leaves Alfa Romeo and especially Lancia requiring attention!

@SSSSssscccireaaaa7 Fair enough, and I don't mind if a car company's owned by another, just so long as the cars they make still adhere to what the company founder wanted. Alfas today, they look good, but as a driving experience most of them are rubbish. Even their 8C was awful - bone breaking ride and wayward handling. Not a very good noise either. Why can't they go back to rear drive sports cars? That's what made them famous - not psychotic handling hatchbacks.

@NobleM15fan Well yes, you make a fair point. I think it will take time, given Fiat's circumstances only a few years ago! The Giulia & 169 should be winners and sorted first time! If you look at the new Giulietta it's had excellent reviews! praised for it's new engines (multiair), excellent chassis, build quality etc etc....This model starts a whole new generation of Dynamic and Quality Models. I think it's been very apparent for a long time Alfa Romeo and notably Lancia have been sidelined and

@SSSSssscccireaaaa7 That's good - the Giulia does look like a nice car, and unlike the 8C it seems the drive doesn't disappoint. I haven't looked at the 169 yet, but the 166 was a typical Fiat under Alfa's rule: looks good, has soul but is rubbish at everything else.
Lancia is now like Cadillac - was great once, but now they don't really know what they are anymore.

There is nothing wrong with Fiat. Fiat fixed problems from the past with Punto 2 and newer (rust, safety, squeking interior, minor problems that bugging all the time). Even older cars like Tipo are very reliable.

@SSSSssscccireaaaa7 Group A Delta notched up 45 wins between 1987 and 1992, but it was the final version, the Super Delta HF Integrale or the Deltona as it was known, which really made its mark. the Delta had evolved from being a family runaround into the a moody looking machine which was wheeled out of Turin in time for the 1992 season. how Didier Auriol missed out on the 1992 title, having taken what looked like a near unbeatable Lancia to six rally wins in the season is a mystery
