I actually have a lot of respect for the ancients. They created a world and used religion to explain what they could not. Modern day religious people have all the evidence, science and explanations available, but still refuse to accept them.
Today you hear people wanting to travel the globe—to explore different countries and locations. To experience what other cultures have to offer—what knowledge they have. Perhaps maybe—and hopefully—there will come a time where we'll want to travel the universe.
I am strangely comforted in knowing that the devolved will kill each other. The evolved will go on to live in Utopia. That is if humans even survive. Rest assured if they do the old fairy tales will be a thing of the past. What's important to remember is that the Earth will be here long after you've gone extinct. Carl Sagan explained it best with his "Flat-Lander" anology in the Cosmos series. @TheThinkingAtheist The strange thing is, religion actually makes LESS sense today than it did all those years ago. About half the world's population believe in a singular God who is both is moral and justice in an unjustice world, and promising either eternal torment or eternal ass kissing. Back in the days of old, the gods were good, THEY WERE INSANE. Drunken, incestial, horny beings who liked to watch us suffer. Why do we suffer here on Earth? Easy, the gods don't CARE about you.

I actually have a lot of respect for the ancients. They created a world and used religion to explain what they could not. Modern day religious people have all the evidence, science and explanations available, but still refuse to accept them.

I am strangely comforted in knowing that the devolved will kill each other. The evolved will go on to live in Utopia. That is if humans even survive. Rest assured if they do the old fairy tales will be a thing of the past. What's important to remember is that the Earth will be here long after you've gone extinct. Kind of puts those petty differences into perspective, but the devolved don't have a chance.

In fact, many people fear to call themselves non-believers for fear of rejection. Also, are you really that ignorant to believe that anyone wants to make anyone else a homosexual? Think of it this way:
If God didn't want them to, how come they still can, and why am I not a homosexual? Is got prioritizing me? Then he is indecisive and un-just.
But if evolution made the difference, it can easily be explained by our enviroments. Sure, I don't exactly know how or why one would suddenly feel attracted to the sex one can't reproduce with, but I sure as hell haven't been exposed to anything that might change my way.

When they said God was everywhere, what did you think it meant? We are but one organism in the universal body, but our universe is a blastocyst of evolving life within Gods body. Therefore we are all still children of God's mind, body and soul. Combined conscious thought has more influence in reality than a single prayer, but to say he is nonexistent is back to thinking that the universe and ourselves, are all that exists. Adolf Hitler wrote the book Mein Kampf (my struggle) which is a reference to the Darwinian struggle for existence, and held to a strong Darwinian view of man, and he makes it very clear in his book (the term often translated "progress" is actually "evolution"), with the Aryan race being the most highly evolved. He was not secretive about this. Stalin, Pol Pot, and even Saddam Hussein are other major examples.

Stalin was a student of theology until he read Darwin, and became and Atheist and later during his dictatorship he viewed Darwinian-Atheism as his justification for murdering human beings. If humans are not sacred, then there is no basis on which to say that killing them is wrong, in his view. You may show this to a history professor if you doubt my facts.

@GreenSlugg The difference between the Atheist killing someone and the Christian killing someone is this; the Bible says that it is wrong to murder, so the Christian is being inconsistent with his professed beliefs if he murders someone. The Darwinian Atheist, on the other hand, has no basis to say that murder is morally wrong, since he has no objective basis for morality. Morality becomes relative. Some cultures choose to love their neighbor and some choose to eat their neighbor. It's relative.

Its called altruism - the same thing that stops us from killing our pet kittens - members of species advantegeous to the genetic success are favored and protected, which means all humans are naturally altruistic about all other humans - without the barriers of religion, race, nations, etc - there would be far less violence in the world.

Also, as a pack-social species, murder is wrong because it disrupts the smooth functioning of the pack [which now includes all humans of the planet] as well as debases the authority structure that keeps the civilization running - you really dont need the fear of the G-man to stop you from murdering - its in your genes.

@TheKanonHara You're not comparing apples to apples. Science is simply the truth... the core facts of reality that are backed up with evidence. Science, in and of itself, holds no mandatory philosophical claims... therefore, it cannot possibly take away your purpose. The idea of "purpose" is a concept that is strictly philosophical... be aware that there are ways to find meaning in your life without the use of religion. And all religions and religious denominations contradict one another, FYI.

@TheKanonHara You have this backwards, sir. Science changes it's views based on what's observed. Religion is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved. What would you say is more accurate to the truth? Believing that what you put in your mouth will cure your headache, or taking a pill labeled "Asprin" that is a proven pain reliever? I sure as fuck didn't know that I could just eat a leaf out on the ground to cure my migraines.
