  • Where was this concert?

  • Terrible recording but the voice's still bring me to tears Brava

  • Don't worry about being rude to a shitbag like Nighfighter74 ,he's just a piece of human garbage not fit to be spoken to decently. Hope the cunt gets cancer of aids and dies slowly. fucking filth

  • The're going to need a lot more balloons than that to get them up...

  • I was there too, but I think this might have been 1981 and not 1980. As I remember it, in 1980 it rained and the singers (Domingo was one, he was in SF for Samson and Delilah) stayed with only a piano. In 1981 Caballé and Horne were in San Francisco for Semiramide. Their concert had a warm sunny day. In any case, this is wonderful. Thanks for posting it!

  • i remember also, i was stage left....almost crying from their wonderful voices. the entire program was fantastic....from bacarole to la wally.....and the drinking song....what a wonderful day that was

  • Мне это исполнение понравилось больше всего :) они очень хорошо владеют голосами и их голоса очень хорошо гармонируют. Они обволакивающие, купающиеся в прекрасной музыке :)

  • I can't listen to this song without cry. It's so terribly romantic... It touches my heart everytime. The young M&M (Marilyn and Montserrat) are wonderful.

    Viva Offenbach for ever!!!

  • Wow, these ladies know how to do it! Thanks so much for posting this!!

  • Those two were hilarious and amazing together.

  • @scratchingcat I totally agree !!!

  • Omg. they've got balloons! haha <3 this so much. What great ladies who truly love opera. Opera dorks make the best opera singers :)

  • Nightfighter74. "great weight???" I'd call you an idiot but that would be rude. They are big and beautiful and talented beyond anything you could ever hope for, you jerk! Oops, that is rude, sorry.

  • Why are they holding those balloons? Is it to find them if they got lost in the crowd?

  • Why don't you criticize their music? There always has to be an ignorant person like you writing about an irrelevant topic comment just to get some attention and feed from the negativity of other people. I don't know what's wrong with you to insult people that you don't even know. Sadly you'll never grow up to understand what all of us are trying to tell you because you choose to live in ignorance and you are in only control of that.

  • @Nightfighter74 Why are you even watching this video you moron?

  • wow motserrat caballe es un encanto de señora!

  • Everyone search in utube_____ Montserrat Caballe "Casta diva" Norma Orange 1974_____

You'll be listen THAT PERFORMENS for good....

    I guarantee it !.

  • Check the one from Madrid in 1971 - her very best Casta Diva in Youtube. The one from Orange in '74 is terribly out of tune - although she does that amazing diminuendo in the Bflat a the end of the final cadenza.

  • I absolutely adore these two ladies, two of the greatest singers of recent memory.

I know Caballe recorded this for the Italian film 'La vita e bella', so was Horne the mezzo for that track? I remember singing Caballe in the credits but damn I can't remember who the mezzo was! Anyone help?

  • the mezzo-soprano is Shirley Verrett :-)

  • NO cara

  • No...the mezzo is Marilyn Horne

  • shes black lol

  • Comment removed

  • I was referring to the question who the mezzo in "La Vita e Bella" is (see some postings before)...and it is Shirley Verrett. Sorry for Confusion

  • I was referring to who the mezzo in the movie "La Vita E Bella" was (somebody asked it)...and it was Shirley Verrett...Sorry for Confusion :-)

Btw: Why does stupid youtube not accept my postings from time to time?

  • Beautiful. Wonderful and different. These two were quite a pair. I loved the tenderness of Horne's arm on Caballe's shoulder.

  • I was there that day....I can see myself in the audience. I would never have imagined that I would ever see this performance again. Thank you so much. The sound was amazing, especially Caballe's high pianissimi which carried like a tiny silver bell on the air.

  • Great singing, but what else could we expect from these two ladies? Their voices always sounded so well together. But why the balloons? I loved when Marilyn starts to wave her balloons at 1.40 and then Montserrat's face looking at it so amused!
