Are rates of Autism greater ? Or are there more diagnosis of what has only been recognised since the 40's and the spectrum increased in latter years to include what we once regarded as eccentric

Unfortunatly, autism awareness has become mindless celebrity gossip due to people like Jenny McCarthy. She doesn't even know if autistic adults exist which illustrates her sheer stupidity. Yet, many people believe that she should be the voice of the autism community. Many parents of autistic children hate her guts. True autism awareness should be about acceptence and assistance, not gossip or eugenic agendas from groups like Autism Speaks.

I have been campaining for 10 years for Government to realise that people on the Autistic spectrum are not suited to Mainstream education and they do NOTHING! Raising awareness is wonderful but when will someone actually DO something? They all say what we want to hear and smile and nod and say they are all for awareness.....you know they are here now DO SOMETHING to help grrrrrrrrrrrr. xxxJoolsxxx

BarrysDaughter, there are many voices worldwide things are changing, the walls of secrecy and denial will be torn down. Many global voices will united into one consciousness, of pure love, parents have started their own autistic schools because they didnt want their autistic children mainstreamed. We are powerful because we are armed with the unconditional love our children taught us xx
