  • i see no evil in masturbation or visual aid, but I can't find pornography that isn't disgusting. It is all absurdly sexist, unrealistic, vulgar, crude, and twisted. If you are shameless enough to let your mind go down that path it can be very arousing but it is not healthy. It distorts your understanding of women and your own sexuality in very harmful ways and leads to addictions. It doesn't feel true in the short term, but in the long term the more pure minded person has better sex.

  • @NoTrueFace1 - You are correct. Pornography distorts what people view as, "OK". There are many individuals that say they have done things that they regret, sexually, because they lowered their morals. It is important to keep our logical thinking part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex, in control.

  • Excellent series. Thanks for all your hard work. Men on my website have been making it clear that porn is behind a lot of erectile dysfunction, social anxiety and general desensitization of the brain. Fortunately, these problems also clear up as someone lets go of the addiction. See "Cupid's Poisoned Arrow" blog on "Psychology Today" for their stories.

  • @reuniting Thank you for your comments.

  • I don't know what you think about Dr. Drew's Sex Rehab show but I find it helpful and insightful. The people on the show suffer from past abuse and trauma. I don't know if my addictions stem from a similar place or if others do. I don't know if you touch upon that area. Thank you very much.

  • There is a lot of good insight and very good stuff that goes on but unfortunately, there is a lot of drama and also many triggers on the show for a lot of people.

We have found that a lot of people struggling with serious addiction stems from childhood trauma but not all.

  • @digitalpenciler a lot of what Dr. Drew says and does is wonderful stuff. We do have a problem with the way it is commercializing someone's problems. We also think the advertisements are extremely in appropriate and is a trigger for many addicts.

Just because you blur out an image does not mean it won't affect someone in a negative way and Dr. Drew should know that. His side kick is actually more helpful to the patients than he is, in my opinion.

    Many addictions stem from childhood.
