There's really no point in even mentioning the name of the current US president when discussing military imperialism, because they are all the same, and controlled by the same power structure. As long as the status quo remains, Americans will never have an opportunity to vote for leaders who will change anything fundamentally.
Concentration camps? Look, Obama has a bunch of socialist clowns running our government and the US is on the edge of an economic cliff yes, but concentration camps in Haiti? Just stop. What could the US get out of Haiti other than more Haitians? The place has been an imploded hell hole since it got its independence. The US is trying to keep the place from turning into the Sudan.
The republican Nazi totalitarian party enabled these problems with 8 years of unfettered erosion of regulations, individual rights and payoffs to big corporate and banking cronies. The Dems are now forced to initiate socialist corrections. Opinions about gold are oblivious to both history and current events. The govt. seized gold during the 30s. Gold sold for $850 on Jan. 21, 1980 and $578 exactly one year later. Gold is controlled by a few rich who manipulate the market.
From the first day the US has sent help to Haiti. $100 Million, and US Citizens have all donated to the food and medical supplies in Haiti. Even Celebrities have given shows to collect funds for Haiti.
If we are killing 1000's of people, the citizens of the US don't know about it.
Then again, the people here are the last to know what is going on. Our government does what it wants, and we are trying to change that. We seldom agree with what the Government does, or even KNOW what it's doing
@Sheila6325 -- yes, you are right....some here in canada have an "anti-american" attitude and that is so wrong as it is the GOVERNMENT that is the problem, NOT the amerian people.......and that is true of almost any place. the bomb that was dropped on hiroshima, did the people that were making it know they were making a bomb? no.
@mysugarpie420 Another issue is the media. So many Americans get false communication, with no other, that it's impossible for them to know what is really going on. It's going to get a lot worse, before American's eyes are open. Then look out, when they see it for what it is, they WILL ACT, Once they KNOW they have been duped, they will fight back with a vengeance. They will protect their families at all costs, and Gov. will be the last worry to them. It scares me to think of what some will do.
You should immediately post an apology about 2:40. Saying he kills 1.000s of people in wars and dropping the word 'concentration camps' is just shameful. For you and for me as citizen of Germany.
historically most wealthy and prosperous nations will show how a small jewel of Oesterreich, and it's impending default, will create a run on the banks.
We expect it to come from Spain and Greece..however, for a country like Austria who has strong BZOe-FPOe support, maybe it would be fitting to default to distance from the EU. I am sure Strache would not mind!
The Anglo-American empire has created and still creates blood-baths world-wide.
However, the blame can be spread around...the disdain will definitely aimed toward the USA, but German, English, and French hegemony and distorted ideologies have exacerbated the climate. It is a collusion of the elite at all levels, to blight the middle class.
This being said, I will make a prediction.. a default of Austria, when it comes, will trigger a panic. The defaulting of one of the......
The Austrians elected the FPO/OVP, however sanctioned Vienna for electing something that "protested" and was against the existence of the EU.
Surely, in poorer eastern countries, they are not being given the save constitutional rights as core-europe. So, isn't this analogous to the legality of the Hitler appointment to dictatorship?
Yes, the USA has blood on it's hands. Kissinger has ruined countries, manipulated civil conflicts, brought about military coups in South America....
I like your vlogs, however one of the reasons I like Austrians much more than Germans is that you become myopic and oblivious in analyzing the history and events of others.
The fatherland has exerted a "legal" but "illegal" hegemony over the smaller states of Europe. Surely, a bailout would be given without any thought to "core-europe".
The fatherland and the EU have exerted illegal sanctions over Austria in 2000.
bernie, obama does not kill thousands of innocent people every day like you keep saying. you are confusing him with a fellow german, his name was hitler.
MY God what about the chance the people are giving, kind and always lend a hand. When most of Europe stands by and watches it seems odd that the people who help are accused of being self serving.
"The only thing the United States has asked of France is a place to bury her dead" General Collin Powell. Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff
As far as common citizen where are the donations and outpouring from your part of the world. Whats the matter can play with the big boy so you pout and blame
@ccharlie100 I think you may be misinterpreting Berni's expressions here. He doesn't look happy to me, especially when he talks about Obama's latest mismanagements - he looks visibly tense!
Maybe you are projecting your own prejudices about Germans in this case, seeing what you want to see?
If we look at the US actions in the Haiti case and understand the geopolitical map of the world we should at least consider it as a possibility that US used HAARP to create the earthquake. It would be close minded not to consider it. Hugo Chavez has already accused the US for using HAARP.
You;re comments are pathetic..."managing haiti in an imperialistic fashion? Killing thousands in concentration camps??...look, there is no other country in Haiti's theater that can provide the logistical support and aid that the US can...we're GIVING them aid...Americans have privately given almost $300 million alone, WE'RE USING OUR SHIPS, HELICOPTERS, AIRCRAFT , SERVICEMEMBERS AND MONEY...TO HELP!!! What a friggen moronic response you have given
your critics to bernie may be correct, but please explain the 1.000.000 victims in iraq. Bush is responsible for that and now he is engaged as the big rescuer. Some day in the future there will come the revenge by the iraqees. And pray that this wont be a nuke !
First of all, we all appreciate the help of the american people.
Second, unfortunately every coin has two sides - and I gave you a glance on the second side. The capacity to listen to others opinions is unfortunately required.
@raincityusa2010 Wrong! The Country OF RECORD who has donated the most to Haiti is Canada, A country who outperforms the USA in all aspects and who supplies 40% of the USA electric power. Quit patting yourself on the back yank, you're not who you think you are and you don't get to be great just by saying it!
Obama is continuing the same foreign policies of sucessive US governments, I think the reason people have lost trust in him is over the health care bill (which relates to a general distrust of big government and the fostering of consumerism through advertisements) and the fact that he didn't fix everything in one year or withdraw from Iraq/Afghanistan.
Joern, here is really a strange thing that happened on Bloomberg TV-Europe today when Charlie Rose interviewed
Prince Alwaleed (influent Saudi Business man):
Mr. Rose asked about the ability of the US to cope with their budget deficit, but as Mr. Alwaleed started to give a (negative) answer, the screen froze!! BUT it has not been a satellite problem as the market info continued to scroll!!??
Strange also because the interview has been made 6 days ago!! Maybe I'm getting paranoid too...
Charles Dumas, research director at Lombard Street Research Ltd.,said to Bloomberg .... prospect of Greece and other countries leaving the euro region is 100% sure !!
I'm preparing for the collapse of the Dollar and the US. People are really expecting everything to just return to normal by this year! Ohh boy. They are in for a big surprise.
It will be pandemonium in the streets when it all goes down hill and they will learn like many in New Orleans did in Katrina that one can't depend on government for any thing.
This is the part I don't get. If you are expecting something like Katrina (social conditions wise), you can't prepare for that. What good will silver do you in an environment like that?
It's you who is going to be surprised. This is not going to turn around for a long time and your silver isn't going to be much good. The real problem is oil production, just nobody has noticed this yet. Oil will likely be over $100 a barrel by the end of the year and production will be under 80mbd and still nobody will understand. It's going to take a few years for people to understand we peaked and it's downhill from here.
i agree that KarlBrkr will find out that his silver will not buy him bread on a black market throughout 2010, because there will not be a system crash severe enough to make that happen. yes, there is no cash in the system, only mark-to-fantasy assets; and yes, we will see ugly developments including market corrections; but no, it will take some time before the USD and the US collapse, if they collapse at all. (not questioning a certain downward trend though.)
I am talking about the people (and there is a lot of them) who are predicting a total collapse in the US. The ONLY way to prepare for that is to leave. People are buying guns and years of food and ammunition.
Can you IMAGINE the property crime and violence in the US if anything even remotely close to Argentina or Germany happened? We have 10s of millions of people totally reliant on the gov for food and other basic necessities. Do you think these people will just lay down and die?
uhm... he who siteth in the glass house, be careful with throwing stones....
I WILL NOT LET A FOREIGNER INSULT OUR PRESIDENT WITH SOME IDIOTIC REMARKS. PS ICH KANN AUCH DEUTSCH UND KENNE DIE EUROPAEISCHE MENTALITAET SEHR GUT. SCHULD HABEN IMMER DIE ANDEREN, STIMMT?
I married into a German family. me bieng from Mexico, and I found out that you can't generalize, there are two types of people in the world : good or bad.
Teacher - What products do you produce that you can base your economy on?
US citizen: a reserve currency and a global military domination.
Teacher - then how will you buy things if you have nothing to sell & make money?
US citizen: through our reserve currency, we can manipulate the debt of the poorer countries which happen to be often filled with mineral assets. Assets we buy through credit. A deal they cant reject because of our military hegemony.
I had been enjoying a glass of red and changed it to hearse....i was going to write something else but the image came to mind.....all the best and good luck.
The German Governments emergency aid for Haiti now totals about $21 million. The Federal Agency for Disaster Relief is supplying 60,000 people a day with drinking water. The German Red Cross has sent a mobile hospital in addition to its mobile health clinic.
You have got to be kidding me. The republicans love to spend money just as much as the democrats, there will not be a default in the next few days, maybe the next few years...
Haiti, America has done more than the rest of the world combined. What do we owe Haiti? We are broke, we have NO MONEY to send them and yet gave more than the rest of the world combined. Even American citizens, the most indebted in the world gave more than the rest of the world combined.
I didn't know there were any senate seats voted on yet. Weren't they just primaries? Chris Dodd is vacating his seat, but not until the term expires and the democrat running might win.
I thought it was just primaries and that the seats were up for vote in Nov, looks like there is a new republican MA senator. I still seriously doubt any default on the debt any time soon.
We have no money huh? 100 million we gave to Haiti last week, but check this out, the same week, we gave Israel 2,775 BILLION DOLLARS. Thats 27 times the amount we gave Haiti, and America did not and will not give more than the rest of the world. European nations gave over 1/2 billion dollars, and thats 5 times more than the the USA. But we are giving, so that helps alot.
@christo930 Ur absolutely right. Why wud anyone give u a thumbs down? Republicans love fighting wars, giving tax cuts (which is a form of spending) which is crazy when debt is expanding exponentially. In 2003 he signed a bill expanding medicare that was worth 400 billion. Wow. Bush was being guided by former Wall Street Bankers all good Republicans I'm sure. Republicans/Democrats - they all love spending money that they don't have.
republican's do not "love" fighting wars, but there are times when it's a must. this is true of both republicans and democrats. ww1 and 2 were fought under democrats. 'nam was began with democrats and was ended by a republican.
tax cuts are NOT a form of spending. IF the govt makes corresponding budget cuts. also, historically when taxes are cut revenue to the the fed INCREASES. i know that's a bit of a paradox, but its true.
The new republican party can not be compared to the old GOP. What we have now isn't a conservative run gop, but a neocon gop. Traditionally, conservatives believed in freedom and non interventionist foreign policy, today it's the opposite. Use big gov to fight wars, get involved in all kinds of foreign entanglements, nation building, force religion on citizens... The libertarians are the real conservatives and the real republicans.
the gop is the home of the moderate democrat. as for conservatives and libertarians there is far too much common ground to squabble over who wins the title of purest in party.
it easy to understand, but you can't confuse bush policies with conservative philosophy.
conservative principles are the same as they were 200 years ago, whether anyone adheres to them or not. a conservative protects our god given rights, fosters the civil society and defends our borders.
I somewhat agree, but the people calling themselves conservatives are really just neocons and I think they put a dirty stain on the word conservative.
i appreciate your respect for the mantle of conservatism and that's why the philosophy needs to be articulated more thoughtfully. most people don't know what it means which is sad and almost criminal because that is our foundation, conservatism.
Conservatism? Well, the US has not changed their plans from the beginning. Since day one, it is expansion and transfer of wealth, matter and energy, from an exterior to its soil.
Problem: the exterior is thinning. Hence the turmoil. Hard to expand when you have expanded everywhere.
I am with you christo930. Am\erica is still the greatest country in the world and will continiue, and one of the reason is because of its'Good, caring and blessed people.
You ignoreant stupid US American. YOu don't know any single thing about Haiti. You owe this people a lot and you are responsible that they are poor.
There are a lot of videos on youtube that will educate you about the terror the USA spread over Haiti. Not only supporting Papa and Baby Doc but for example Bill Clinton rice trace deal which ruined the Haiti economy.
So shut the fuck up you US no brainer. There are good reasons why Anti-Americanism exist.
America caused an earthquake Haiti? I'd love to know how we did that.
The point is, we did more than the rest of the world combined! We, the most indebted nation in the world, in the history of the world, gave more to Haiti than the rest of wold COMBINED. Our private donations (from indebted citizens) was more than the rest of wold's governments (and citizens) COMBINED.
Bill Clinton brought Aristide back to Haiti under the condition to remove the import tax for US rice. After the remove the local industry was wiped out because they couldn't be competitve with the heavy machinery and Monsanto stuff in the USA. This killed jobs, impoverished the people and resulted in the a food crisis long before July 2008
Yes USA is evil. They destroy countries and they are responsible for a lot of suffering in this world. Face this - Haiti was never a charity.
I have to agree with you that the American gov is pretty good at destroying jobs, usually the jobs of it's own citizens. But the American people aren't bad people any more than any other nation. Do you HONESTLY think we are happy with our gov? Look at the presidency and congress approval numbers over the last decade! Look at the last election and the SCREAM for change from the people, change that never came. Look at what just happened in MA!
If i look at an old John Wayne movie i see that ignorance about history and responsiblity is pretty high. And it still is - you are a proof of it. Looting the whole world with your worthless green paper and then starting to cry when the situation finally is becoming that what you deserve.
Germany had to learn that Adolf Hitler was not an alien but had the support of the people, thats why Germany deserved Dresden. You should face the same for your goverment and supporting people
a john wayne movie is just that --a movie. what is it that we are looting? oil? because that's paid for.
you are right though that the u.s hasn't a right to fuss over an economy that we nurtured and encouraged.
dresden was bombed to pieces because it was a war. no one deserved dresden or stalingrad or gettysburg, but that is the nature of war. it is sick and deplorable, but once it starts it has to be finished.
it's fascinating that everyone downs the notion of american exceptionialism and tells us in so many different ways that we're just like every other nation blah blah blah.
then when a crisis hits ANYWHERE in the world. the first thing everyone says, "what the hell is the U.S gonna do to fix this?"
fuck off get the UN and some sanctimonious europeans to take care of it. madagascar has monkeys they lend in times of crisis, check with them.
can you expound on this notion that we the U.S. are RESPONSIBLE for haitis plight. hundreds and hundreds of millions every single year and WE are responsible?
are the haitians, in your view, responsible for anything that happens in haiti?
you're right in theory, but it is hard to see how filling up some marxist warlord's swiss bank account is a sound investment.
the u.s has gotten wealthier but so has everyone else. as for the pouring dollars that is ceratinly true, but again they are voluntary transactions and everyone benefits.
is humanitarian aide then not really humanitarian at all but soley self serving?
do you believe the world would be a better place w/out the united states or do we do ANY good in your mind?
Empty words. Every current transaction can be described as voluntary. You have to invent examples to get a realistic unvoluntary transaction. Mutual benefit? But the same.
A guy crosses a guy. He has the power to beat the life out of her. She has the power to satisfy his lust.
Whatever happens, including a rape is a voluntary transaction and mutual benefit: girl has her life, guy his pleasure.
The US hundreds of military bases certainly help to
Fact is the US primary objectif is to avoid a vaccuum of power near their shores in fear a powerful country seizes the opportunity to deploy their military.
Everyone got richer? Wrong. Many areas of the world are on the track to be emptied from their real wealth without the capability to take advantage of it.
The rate of extraction and transfer has increased over the last 60 years
you are now suggesting that obama moved into haiti to thwart the enemy from gaining the upperhand in the region. of course cuba is always happy to entertain anti-american radicals, but you're entitled to your opinion/
obviously china or a band of jihadist setting up a base camp in haiti is not a pleasant thought, but i think the prospects of such a thing are and were remote.
you mention a straw man argument and my "unsuprising shame", but i wasn't really arguing anything and i certainly did not not reference anything that brings me shame.
i picture the u.s as a victim?victim of what? and what of U.S. imperium?so not to be a jerk, but i have no idea what you are referring to or talking about.
The recourse of the government by fear tactics is an unsurprisingly shame.
You know, the story, the US bleeding to help others and stuff, victim of their own will to do good around the world only to be rewarded by ungrateful behaviours and stuff.
as the U.S. diplomat and spokesperson, i would say that we give and that we help because we are compelled.
that does not mean we are entirely selfless filled with nothing but altruistic motives, we are human afterall, but the impetus to go to haiti, to indonesia, to mexico and even to iran after an earth quake, is because it is simply the right thing to do.
we may feel that way because of 200 years of biblical underpinnings or because it is in our genes, but whatever it is...it is.
Classical strawsman. You appeal to an hypothesis (by the way which is based on the government by fear, an unsurprising shame but still a shame for a US citizen) to oppose it to a concrete situation.
What is known is what the world is under US imperium. Nothing else.
Currently, the US is exchanging a debt against real wealth. Dont try to picture the US as a victim. It is silly.
People who are exchanging in the US are on the dangerous side. Not the US.
i would say that you are advancing an argument of victimization. the rest of the world is mere victim to the u.s. dollar and u.s imperium. that even when we give $ we are doing nothing more then enriching ourselves.
having said that, no one in the u.s expects or even wants accolades, but to be accused of trying to occupy a nation while digging in tons of rubble for survivors is a bit off putting.
if we do nothing...criticism would come fast and come fierce. then again if we do something then we have our motives scrutinized.
this doesn't make us victims. it makes us irritated. how should being accused of nefarious motives make a person or a nation feel? pleased?
You might have a point though: a common US citizen might also give in order to buy the feeling you describe and be able to say what you say. A likely hypothesis that should be tested. After all, it is only paper money and stuff...
In the case of the US, it is all done in terms of self service. For the case of humanitarian aid, the world is vast and provides many examples to compare with.
Once done, the conclusion is one: the US helps where their self benefit is.
As to the US being blamed if doing nothing in case of Haiti, of course, they would. In the US and the world, there are people who totally agree with covering up self serving purposes with humanitarian aid.
And the US not pushing its domination interests through a natural disaster would anger them, especially if a rival nation had seized the opportunity to fill the gap.
The world opinion is not uniformous. Some people find disgusting that a nation can use a natural disaster, the misery of a
i really don-t know what to say. your condescending & arrogant and you have nothing substinative to say. "the u.s is self serving" yes, we got it. the u.s sucks.
incidentally, how many years before italy is ruled under sharia law? i believe native italians are become the minority in a couple of generations. is that right? no mind, at least it's not the americans, right?
So many times we seem to be "helping", when what our gov't is really doing is setting up to take over the "helped" country- we've done this all over the world, and I'm sick of it. Berni is right, I'm afraid.
good idea, the chinese have always been known for their crisis management techniques. they just shoot everyone. problem solved.
do you think china can't help now? what is stopping them? not us.
incidentally, what kinda sick, twisted and perverted thought train are you on where you are thinking of haiti in the context of strategic positioning for global hegemony?
the fed does that already, and for quite some time.
the usd cannot collapse under current circumstances any time soon.
a fall in value of the USD... against what? yes, its value will fall, over time, in waves, depending on carry trades, foreign central banks being locked in to a USD holding scheme, etc. but the question is, what will the other currencies do. it will depend on many factors.
"An unacceptable situation in Haiti as redirected air shipments slow capacity, response and treatment
"What we are trying to do is to expand our capacity to answer these calls. But we need supplies to get to the airport - and we don't know why the planes are being redirected." - Loris De Filippi, the coordinator for MSF's work in Choscal hospital in Cite Soleil"
The Republicans may posture that they won't vote on expanding the debt limit, but believe me they will. The US will not default on its debt (by choice), but the dollar may become so diluted that the US debtors will not take it. FOR EXAMPLE: The Saudi's may demand gold for oil. But, for that to happen, the Saudi's will have to find another protector of the kingdom (China??). There is a crisis brewing, but nothing about this is simple.
Moody's is considering quantifying "social harmony" in a country's sovereign debt rating!!!
the US is deeeeeeply bipartisan right now. whatever democrat party passes in legislature, no republican support and VICE VERSA. it was never like this. but it is reality.
(actually both parties are corrupt, both are the same)
Japan, UK are NOT like this, based on what i read. thus, according to Moody's US is weaker debt rating.
So you say some legislators will filibuster and not allow a debt limit increase causing the dollar default? Chances are zilch on this. quote 'Please reelect me, I just crashed the dollar'.
Having a difficulty in passing more expensive legislature will be a budget plus in my view.
US has given 3 x more then the rest of the world combined, yet ass holes like you want to attack america for being greedy, we suck now becuase of liberal but with out us the whole world would be owned my Nazi's and if not them communist USSR.
defending ur country againt propaganda is not blaming anyone, just the opposite, the freaking world wants to blame america. NO 1 made them denpendent on us. U can't go for the ride & when it's over be made at the driver. To blame america u have to give credit to US for evdeything they have, sound crazy, ok well so is blaming us. Atleast they could pick right shit, how do you tell a coutnry that gave 3x more then the rest of the world combined there not doing thier part & in it for themselves.
Well I'm subd to him, so I don't hate him, but he is knee jerk pandering. Let's say US, they are, is trying to find stragic military value out of this, ..so what. Without us this currupt STATIST country would be more screwd then without. I really don't want to hear from a Swedish guy about the evils of america, if countries like his were more capitalist this dependance & imbalance would never have occurred. They would probably even have a miltiary my sister could not kick the shit out of.
It won't be interesting.... Olympia Snow and John Insane McCain, who are more friendly with Democrats than Republicans, will be happy to help Obama out.
Maybe, Sen Reed will promise the Tax revenue of the state of Texas to Maine residents...
The whole concept of Obama refusing to take action in MANY domains is the design of the global elites who want to discredit the United States and the Fed to evolve into a United Nations controlled world with the International Monetary Fund to substitute the Fed.
Prepare for forced civil free service to make this world a better place. You wont be paid, but some elitists will make themselves very rich.
I also think Haiti is caused by HAARP as an experiment
obamas administration is ONLY: CFR, trillateral commission, wall street, federal reserve, lobbyists, pro wars, pro patriot act and the list goes on. what kind of change should that bring? THERE WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE CHANGE!!!
Jörn, I can say with confidence that the average American has no idea what the USA does with regards to foreign policy, and worse, absolutely DOES NOT CARE. Most have a USA-centric view of the Earth, where if it's not the USA, then it's 3rd world, mud floors and straw roofs. They really do think this way.
Look at some of the blogs at USA Today... constant battles blaming either the Dems or the Repubs. They're all blind to the reality at both are just 2 heads of the same monster.
@SewEyeSea indeed, and if you had grown up in the same school system, you'd probably be no different, unless you had run into something by accident.
I think it is always helpful to remember that Joe6pack's contribution to the evil violent institution of gvt, is not voluntary. He has to pay up or face jail. A loss of interest in what the thieves do with his money is logic. He paralyses them as much as possible by voting them in balance.
All the perplexities, confusion and distress in America arise, not from defects in their Constitution or Confederation, not from want of honor or virtue, so much as from the downright ignorance of the nature of coin, credit and circulation.
John Adams
Gold and silver is on he books and is legal tender the corrupt government fucks knew in 1971 that the globe would get this crisis sometime down the road.
That's how evil they are they don't care if human beings live or die.
I drink too much tea and coffee but this guy always makes me want to drink more. By the way, would love an updated version of your view on the future price of gold, maybe taking into account todays drop in price (due to fear about fiscal/monetary tightening by China). Surely this is all short-term though!
There's really no point in even mentioning the name of the current US president when discussing military imperialism, because they are all the same, and controlled by the same power structure. As long as the status quo remains, Americans will never have an opportunity to vote for leaders who will change anything fundamentally.

We expect it to come from Spain and Greece..however, for a country like Austria who has strong BZOe-FPOe support, maybe it would be fitting to default to distance from the EU. I am sure Strache would not mind!

If we look at the US actions in the Haiti case and understand the geopolitical map of the world we should at least consider it as a possibility that US used HAARP to create the earthquake. It would be close minded not to consider it. Hugo Chavez has already accused the US for using HAARP.

i agree that KarlBrkr will find out that his silver will not buy him bread on a black market throughout 2010, because there will not be a system crash severe enough to make that happen. yes, there is no cash in the system, only mark-to-fantasy assets; and yes, we will see ugly developments including market corrections; but no, it will take some time before the USD and the US collapse, if they collapse at all. (not questioning a certain downward trend though.)
yet, silver is a good investment.

@christo930 Ur absolutely right. Why wud anyone give u a thumbs down? republican's do not "love" fighting wars, but there are times when it's a must. this is true of both republicans and democrats. ww1 and 2 were fought under democrats.

The libertarians are the real conservatives and the real republicans.
christo930 2 years ago
@christo930
the gop is the home of the moderate democrat. as for conservatives and libertarians there is far too much common ground to squabble over who wins the title of purest in party.
it easy to understand, but you can't confuse bush policies with conservative philosophy.
conservative principles are the same as they were 200 years ago, whether anyone adheres to them or not. a conservative protects our god given rights, fosters the civil society and defends our borders.

Money does not matter. In one way or other, every USD emitted by the US flows back to its motherland under the form of real wealth.
Dont forget that the US has been pouring USD all over the world for decades now and has received real wealth in exchange.
Humanitarian aid is no different.
TheCZMan 2 years ago

you're right in theory, but it is hard to see how filling up some marxist warlord's swiss bank account is a sound investment.

theMETALDOVE 2 years ago
Voluntary transactions? Everyone benefits?
Empty words. Every current transaction can be described as voluntary. You have to invent examples to get a realistic unvoluntary transaction. Mutual benefit? But the same.
A guy crosses a guy. He has the power to beat the life out of her. She has the power to satisfy his lust.
Whatever happens, including a rape is a voluntary transaction and mutual benefit: girl has her life, guy his pleasure.
The US hundreds of military bases certainly help to
TheCZMan 2 years ago
foster mutually benefitial transactions. Funny one.
Any action can deliver good as a side product.
Fact is the US primary objectif is to avoid a vaccuum of power near their shores in fear a powerful country seizes the opportunity to deploy their military.

as the U.S. diplomat and spokesperson, i would say that we give and that we help because we are compelled.
that does not mean we are entirely selfless filled with nothing but altruistic motives, we are human afterall, but the impetus to go to haiti, to indonesia, to mexico and even to iran after an earth quake, is because it is simply the right thing to do.
we may feel that way because of 200 years of biblical underpinnings or because it is in our genes, but whatever it is...it is.

without trying to be provocative, your assertion is that the U.s. is essentially raping the world. raping them by purchasing their goods and services?

is the world 50 years into the thousand year reich? does the soviet empire encompass the globe? or maybe there is global peace and harmony.
theMETALDOVE 2 years ago
Classical strawsman. You appeal to an hypothesis (by the way which is based on the government by fear, an unsurprising shame but still a shame for a US citizen) to oppose it to a concrete situation.
What is known is what the world is under US imperium. Nothing else.
Currently, the US is exchanging a debt against real wealth. Dont try to picture the US as a victim. It is silly.
People who are exchanging in the US are on the dangerous side. Not the US.
TheCZMan 2 years ago
@TheCZMan
i would say that you are advancing an argument of victimization. the rest of the world is mere victim to the u.s. dollar and u.s imperium. that even when we give $ we are doing nothing more then enriching ourselves.
theMETALDOVE 2 years ago
Yes. You event even admitted that in theory every USD given to the outside was meant to flow back under the form of real wealth to the US.
Distributing USD is absolutely not detrimental to the US. On the contrary. It is an action of charity exerted on themselves.
TheCZMan 2 years ago
@TheCZMan
cont.
having said that, no one in the u.s expects or even wants accolades, but to be accused of trying to occupy a nation while digging in tons of rubble for survivors is a bit off putting.
if we do nothing...criticism would come fast and come fierce. then again if we do something then we have our motives scrutinized.
this doesn't make us victims. it makes us irritated. how should being accused of nefarious motives make a person or a nation feel? pleased?
theMETALDOVE 2 years ago
Thanks for the laughter.
TheCZMan 2 years ago
As to the US being blamed if doing nothing in case of Haiti, of course, they would. In the US and the world, there are people who totally agree with covering up self serving purposes with humanitarian aid.
And the US not pushing its domination interests through a natural disaster would anger them, especially if a rival nation had seized the opportunity to fill the gap.
The world opinion is not uniformous. Some people find disgusting that a nation can use a natural disaster, the misery of a
TheCZMan 2 years ago

Others see in it a too good opportunity to be wasted and would resent if it is missed, especially if a rival seizes the opportunity.

Funny one. The US is the most urged to help Haiti because of Haiti's strategical location off the US shores.
Just give China a chance to do and get a military foothold there. They will help much more than the US.
TheCZMan 2 years ago
@TheCZMan
good idea, the chinese have always been known for their crisis management techniques. they just shoot everyone. problem solved.
do you think china can't help now? what is stopping them? not us.
incidentally, what kinda sick, twisted and perverted thought train are you on where you are thinking of haiti in the context of strategic positioning for global hegemony?
theMETALDOVE 2 years ago
Global hegemony? No. It is well known for now more than 200 years that Haiti is a strategical military location off the US shores.
If you think that the US is ready to let China get a military foothold in Haiti, you are dreaming about the nature of your own country.
The US is already stressed at the idea that China could implant a navy base in Yemen so in Haiti...

when the fed monetises treasury debt, is that when we will see a collapse or fall in value of the USD?
krist300 2 years ago
the fed does that already, and for quite some time.
the usd cannot collapse under current circumstances any time soon.
a fall in value of the USD... against what? yes, its value will fall, over time, in waves, depending on carry trades, foreign central banks being locked in to a USD holding scheme, etc. but the question is, what will the other currencies do. it will depend on many factors.

Give a look at here w w w msf org.
Why redirect medical supplies?

PS) I am nearly certain the 400Billion will be issued.
toddhawley 2 years ago
The date is tomorrow. If the money is not issued, I would look for Jan 31 for the deploy.
If it is issued, the transition will be mid-late April.
Spend it if you got it-
Regards to all- keep your head

So you say some legislators will filibuster and not allow a debt limit increase causing the dollar default? Chances are zilch on this. quote 'Please reelect me, I just crashed the dollar'.
Having a difficulty in passing more expensive legislature will be a budget plus in my view.

I'll bet you $100 that the US won't default in less than a year from today and I doubt that there is even any risk of a default in a year.

It won't be interesting.... Olympia Snow and John Insane McCain, who are more friendly with Democrats than Republicans, will be happy to help Obama out.
Maybe, Sen Reed will promise the Tax revenue of the state of Texas to Maine residents...

@ABETRMAN
I also think Haiti is caused by HAARP as an experiment

hallo jberni,

I drink too much tea and coffee but this guy always makes me want to drink more. By the way, would love an updated version of your view on the future price of gold, maybe taking into account todays drop in price (due to fear about fiscal/monetary tightening by China). Surely this is all short-term though!

What is the difference? None.
There are no politicians who run anything. It is the industrialists and big capital owners who say jump. And then they jump......
