I find bikes to be more of a waste of space then cars. Sure, you can go fast from one place to another.. but that's all you can do. You can't haul anything with them, and you can't bring your friends with you.
I see that you go much faster that the other cars, scooters, and motorcycles. What is the speed limit for those streets you ride on? Are there only a few patrolling cops, because I haven't seen any in your videos. I wish it was like that here in the U.S. I don't think you can even filter through traffic here in the U.S. like you do there in Taiwan. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
the cars you are talking about are people who want their cars to appeal to be faster than the average consumer car but in general they are a bunch of inexperienced kids trying to be louder than the next and frankly its annoying, the only good loud cars are those that are that way because of REAL modifications and not just a fart can strapped on but i agree, the fastest bike will always beat the fastest car because of acceleration

i find that "brraaaaahhhhh" sound you hear so much comes from the ricer community of cars who put on big ass fart mufflers as i like to call them but they have no balls when it comes to racing time being they think they can scare everyone else away with thier 4 inch muffler they put on.
I agree and i don't.. bikes are obviously fast but there's alot of cars out there that can keep up with them.. try racing against a Ariel atom (supercharged) i doubt many bikes would find it easy to beat it and that's a pretty cheap car.. but thats the thing about bikes there pretty cheap for alot of power but.. car control is hard to master and i'd say you would need balls to drive 100 mph though trees on a rally stage or something..
I have a bike and love it, but I think cars are good for some situations and locations. Going offroading on a Jeep Wrangler or "real" SUV can be fun. And drifting on cars like old rx-7s can be fun too. Not to mention just casual driving since you're basically relaxing on a leather chair while moving.
i think ppl who buy fast cars just buy 4 the look cause if its for the speed their fuckin dumb cause u have 2 go the speed limit and it just kills ur engine but on a motor cycle u can at least maneuver through other cars.

well depends were you live... by me i would like a bike cause its short distance and crowded. But Up in my summer house i would want a car because i can go faster for a longer distance without getting tired. It really depends for me. After i Buy a new diesel truck i wanna get a bike!

alot of people that i know with fast cars, like M3s RS4s and even one guy with a ferrari 360(he did buy it second hand though :) ) have fast bikes as well, like fireblades and R1s, nobody has a ducati though.
I think that they much do that because having a fast car, at least gets you some of the motorbike feel, compared to a normal hatchback civic or something, and they also have the real thing, so they have the best of both worlds, just to point out, i dont have a M3 or R1 sitting in mygarage

In my vehicle fleet, I have a Kawi ninja and a 350z (among others). My fast car gives a different but equal thrill compared to my motorcycle. Being pinned to the comfy bolstered seat accelerating and cornering fast while holding the road on 4 wheels is awesome. On the bike, pushing turns, leaning, and rocketing off the line is awesome. I don't think it's fair to knock one, both give great excitement. I guess I can't be a pussy if I do both, right?
@13mordeth I love cars and bikes =D but yeah hate the 84 honda that someone jammed a huge muffler on and thinks they're fast, and sports cars are cool and all but with the amount of money spent on a lambo. I'd rather spend that building up a solid car that goes faster for half the price, weather your taste be muscle cars or import, and also like you arlready said, you could always get a really great bike at a fraction of the cost =]

Im friends with quite a few street racers, me and a bud of mine are the only ones in the group that aren't all about "OMFG HORAZZ POWAAAR IN MAH INTREGA" Im all about bikes, and i would love to race them on even a Ninja 500 and show them they truly suck. Car racing, I don't see the point of it..people spend 20,000 dollars to get their civics as fast as a Ninja 650, not even a 600RR lol.
Kind of a damning, probably inaccurate accessment of those who drive fast cars, don't you think? People enjoy and are good at different things. I'd say it takes a similar, but still different skillset, to go fast on a car as opposed to a bike. Also, the feeling, also while similar, are still different. Preferences aside, I don't mind the idea of having crumple zones and a rollcage if I make a mistake. I don't really think that makes me a "coward".
I gave you a "thumbs up". Good points. Fast cars in America and Canada make a lot more sense. But in Taiwan (the 2nd most densely populated country in the world) there isn't any space for fast cars. And therefore not too much point to them. And considering the high number of bikes/scooters on the road. It makes driving a car fast all the more dangerous.
I've seen Porsche Turbos stuck in traffic in Taiwan all the time. It's, frankly, a crying shame. That said, I also know what it's like to drive a scooter in Taiwan. I can't imagine going two or three times faster on a full-sized bike. While you might have a point concerning the danger of driving fast cars, I have seen shattered helmets roadside. I can't imagine it being more safe driving a fast two-wheel.

Also, the cars you're racing (IE: souped up civic) aren't necessarily particularly fast. Try four wheel drifting through high speed corners at 100+ mph, I think that's just as extreme as high speed riding. I would say bikes and cars are equally fun, and take different kinds of skills to ride fast. Also, you can get much higher speeds through the corners in a car, but generally bikes are faster due to a better power/ weight ratio. So basically, I wouldn't diss either personally.
Cars are boring and expensive even a 500 cc bike could outrun a Honda Civic. And I went to the Suzuki website and the fastest production motorcycle is the Suzuki GSXR 1300 Hayabusa and it cost less then a stock brand new Honda civic. Cars can go around the corner faster because they can push to the limit where they're just about to slide while bikes can't because sliding means you crash.
First of all bikes get owned on corners therefore around a track they would usually lose to a fast car...obviously in a straight line a bike is much, much faster but when that corner comes up you only have 2 wheels as opposed to 4 fat ones...I have both a street bike and a sports car, plus just watch top gears race. All they used was a porsche 911 which is no where near the fastest car and it beat the bike around a track...

If we are talken about a fast bike and say something like a ferrari or a lambo were to race on a track WITHOUT TRAFFIC, the car would clearly win. The bike MAY get off the line quicker but in the long run the car would win. When the bike gets up to 100mph the rider will have a hard time keeping a straight line. Not to mention a lambo can climb up to 150+ mph with ease. In a big city like Taiwan, a bike will run circles around a car though. Anyways I do think bikes are a lot more fun than cars.

Im into import racing and ive seen it all.. full interior dodge neons beat dodge vipers at 1/4mile tracks, and there are 10second subarus and mitsubishis all over the place nowadays. These are cars that can drive to the track, and drive back home. HAve AWD to you can use them year round, get 20+MPG, can handle 50x better than any car of your era, not to mention they have four doors and can be used to you know.. get groceries and shit.
Also, while its true the majority of civics you will see on the road are just slow, and annoyingly loud cars.. but at the same time there are tons of fast civics and other honda cars, running in the 11s etc.
Im more impressed with a small displacement 4cyl. that makes a ton of power compared to its size.. than a big low tech V8 making 60hp/liter. My subaru makes 150hp per liter.. thats impressive to me.

To each man his own opinion, but to say that drivers who want to drive fast are cowards is a bit chauvinistic. There are plenty of people who ride bikes as well as drive fast cars.
In a way you are right, the trade off between a bike and a car is safety. I like to drive fast, but without the risks inherent in driving bikes. You aren't the only one who rides/drives on the road. I hate that with a flick of a wrist, you can get killed by an idiot driver, and that's why I'll choose driving over riding in a public road.
That's wildly inaccurate. You should watch Top Gear, it is a really interesting show and they outrun bikes on cars all the time. Bikes simply can't corner as fast due to their nature.

there are pro's and con's to both, neither are better or worse
Bike's pace is always going to be quicker in a straight line, but cars will claw it back in corners and braking into corners,
I drive both and like them for different reasons,

alot of people that i know with fast cars, like M3s RS4s and even one guy with a ferrari 360(he did buy it second hand though :) ) have fast bikes as well, like fireblades and R1s, nobody has a ducati though.
I think that they much do that because having a fast car, at least gets you some of the motorbike feel, compared to a normal hatchback civic or something, and they also have the real thing, so they have the best of both worlds, just to point out, i dont have a M3 or R1 sitting in mygarage

In my vehicle fleet, I have a Kawi ninja and a 350z (among others). My fast car gives a different but equal thrill compared to my motorcycle. Being pinned to the comfy bolstered seat accelerating and cornering fast while holding the road on 4 wheels is awesome. On the bike, pushing turns, leaning, and rocketing off the line is awesome. I don't think it's fair to knock one, both give great excitement. I guess I can't be a pussy if I do both, right?

@13mordeth I love cars and bikes =D but yeah hate the 84 honda that someone jammed a huge muffler on and thinks they're fast, and sports cars are cool and all but with the amount of money spent on a lambo. I'd rather spend that building up a solid car that goes faster for half the price, weather your taste be muscle cars or import, and also like you arlready said, you could always get a really great bike at a fraction of the cost =]

@13mordeth It's not all like that. Id love to get a fast bike but I'm young so my insurance will be incredibly high with a fast bike. It doesn't help either that I live in New Jersey which has some of the highest insurance rates in the United States. Also, I think a lot of the cars you see are ricers rather than actually fast well-modded cars. I see where you're coming from but IMO what you've formulated your opinion on is mostly just fags who put slip-on eBay mufflers on their cars.

Im friends with quite a few street racers, me and a bud of mine are the only ones in the group that aren't all about "OMFG HORAZZ POWAAAR IN MAH INTREGA" Im all about bikes, and i would love to race them on even a Ninja 500 and show them they truly suck. Kind of a damning, probably inaccurate accessment of those who drive fast cars, don't you think? People enjoy and are good at different things. I'd say it takes a similar, but still different skillset, to go fast on a car as opposed to a bike. Also, the feeling, also while similar, are still different. Preferences aside, I don't mind the idea of having crumple zones and a rollcage if I make a mistake. I don't really think that makes me a "coward".

I gave you a "thumbs up". Good points. Fast cars in America and Canada make a lot more sense. But in Taiwan (the 2nd most densely populated country in the world) there isn't any space for fast cars. And therefore not too much point to them. And considering the high number of bikes/scooters on the road. It makes driving a car fast all the more dangerous.

I've seen Porsche Turbos stuck in traffic in Taiwan all the time. It's, frankly, a crying shame. That said, I also know what it's like to drive a scooter in Taiwan. I can't imagine going two or three times faster on a full-sized bike. While you might have a point concerning the danger of driving fast cars, I have seen shattered helmets roadside. I can't imagine it being more safe driving a fast two-wheel.

Haha, Mordeth I thought of this video a few days ago. I was in my parent's minivan, (dad driving), and we were accelerating up to speed onto a highway. At the same time, I heard a 4:34 roar and excitedly looked around hoping it was a bike. Well, when I saw absolutely no movement all around me I checked for option #2.. Sure enough, there was a civic hatch beside us with a massive muffler. And when I say beside us, i mean beside us, barely pulling away in a plume of smoke. i was in a minivan...

Also, the cars you're racing (IE: souped up civic) aren't necessarily particularly fast. Try four wheel drifting through high speed corners at 100+ mph, I think that's just as extreme as high speed riding. No disrespect, I'm just saying that you shouldn't say that car racing is "for pussies". Have you personally done that sort of thing?

I would say bikes and cars are equally fun, and take different kinds of skills to ride fast. Also, you can get much higher speeds through the corners in a car, but generally bikes are faster due to a better power/ weight ratio. So basically, I wouldn't diss either personally.

First of all bikes get owned on corners therefore around a track they would usually lose to a fast car...obviously in a straight line a bike is much, much faster but when that corner comes up you only have 2 wheels as opposed to 4 fat ones...I have both a street bike and a sports car, plus just watch top gears race. All they used was a porsche 911 which is no where near the fastest car and it beat the bike around a track...

If we are talken about a fast bike and say something like a ferrari or a lambo were to race on a track WITHOUT TRAFFIC, the car would clearly win. The bike MAY get off the line quicker but in the long run the car would win. When the bike gets up to 100mph the rider will have a hard time keeping a straight line. Not to mention a lambo can climb up to 150+ mph with ease. In a big city like Taiwan, a bike will run circles around a car though. Anyways I do think bikes are a lot more fun than cars.

Im into import racing and ive seen it all.. full interior dodge neons beat dodge vipers at 1/4mile tracks, and there are 10second subarus and mitsubishis all over the place nowadays. These are cars that can drive to the track, and drive back home. HAve AWD to you can use them year round, get 20+MPG, can handle 50x better than any car of your era, not to mention they have four doors and can be used to you know.. get groceries and shit.

Im more impressed with a small displacement 4cyl. that makes a ton of power compared to its size.. than a big low tech V8 making 60hp/liter. My subaru makes 150hp per liter.. thats impressive to me.

In a way you are right, the trade off between a bike and a car is safety. I like to drive fast, but without the risks inherent in driving bikes. You aren't the only one who rides/drives on the road. I hate that with a flick of a wrist, you can get killed by an idiot driver, and that's why I'll choose driving over riding in a public road.
