  • Samus was not authorized to see that message.

  • *accidentally runs into an enemy without shoulder ramming*

    Enemy: "C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER"

  • cool!

  • After watching this video, I've realized that there's no fucking way I'm doing this.

  • Oh god, I remember doing this. I think I spent 6 hours over a couple months attempting and reatemting; If you plan on it, I'd HIGHLY recomend using an emulator. Having to walk back every time is an absolute dog.

  • 2:28 As of today, 89,671.

  • @112fredrick thats the joke

  • lol they should do this in more metroid games

  • umm.... im sorry, but unless you hack, or have no life and have been through this game more times than i have (not likely) you cant beat the sections necessary to get to here with only 3 energy tanks. Reference: running from samus X, the plant boss, the spider boss, etc. no way.

  • @akatony1992 I'm sorry, what's that? I can't hear you from way up there on your high horse!

  • @ToastIsWoosh I'm not trying to be rudeor stuck up. I'm serious. I honestly see no way that he could get where he was with 3 energy tanks. He has the gravity suit, which means that he would've had to do the scene where you have to run from SA-X right after the spider boss (space jump boss).I've beaten the game in 1hr 12min, and I can tell you from experience (about 40 playthroughs), that he'll hit you about 4 to 6 times, and each hit takes a whole energy tank. You'd die with only 3 energy tanks.

  • @akatony1992 SA-X isn't that hard to escape at that point. Proper use of Ice Missiles and a little practice should make it fairly easy to get through without taking a hit.

  • @sheepykoli but the main problem, especiallyfor a low hp run, is that you cant see him when you drop down, and if he's facing you you're gauranteed a hit, which is why a 1% is nearly impossible. I'm not saying its impossible, but why would he show us the secret message sequence break when he's on a playthrough where he didnt collect more energy? Why not do it on a playthrough that you have enough health to make mistakes? he's not doing a 1% so it doesnt really matter if he collects items or not.

  • @akatony1992 - I don't mean to interject, but I'd just like to say that 1'12'' is INSANE. Care to post, or suggest a similar run? I'm curious as to what it looks like now! xD

  • @TheVengefulTortoise its one of the things i'm working on. Trying to figure out how to film it. XD Anyways, yeah, my game has one data save at 1:07 and another at 1:10. It takes 5 min (average for me) to beat SA-X / Omega Metroid, so my final times are 1:12 and 1:15. Once I figure out how to film it I'm gonna not only do a speed-run video, but a 100% video

  • @akatony1992 - Nice! Looking forward to it, then! ;)

  • @akatony1992, If you're still trying to figure it out, let me tell you:

First, get the program 'visual boy advance', and a .rom file for fusion. Then download and install:

    Lagarith lossless codec

    meGUI

    Virtualdub

Load VBA, open the rom file, and look in VBA's tabs for an option to 'record .AVI.' choose Lagarith lossless when prompted, and record. When done, load in Virtualdub, do edits, sync the audio and video framerates, then render it in meGUI. I can tell you how to do those if you want.

  • @akatony1992 If you don't suck at it, you can make it through Fusion with 99HP and <= 15 Missiles.

  • @Phazonaddict the person that did that admitted that he used an emulator with which he could perfectly time every single movement he made. Same as the people that got 100% in 57 min. If you use an emulator, or maybe waste about 20 hours of your life respawning at the last save point after you die you might be able to do what's done in this video. I believe the actual trick is possible, but the likelihood he got there with what he has is beyond miniscule.

  • @akatony1992 The movements in this video certainly took TASing unless you were a god, but except for Yakuza and Nightmare (whom were absolute nightmares) I was able to beat the game at 99HP/15 Missiles without much issue.

  • @Phazonaddict

how? I've played through this game so many times im starting to lose count, and i still have to collect extra energy on my speedrun just because i never have enough. Do you just retry the bosses until you beat them? Ony mistake and youre dead with 99 hp. ESPECIALLY with ridley and SA-X, and all the SA-X runs

  • @akatony1992 I never said I could do it perfectly, but Nightmare and Yakuza were the only bosses for which I certainly needed to retry a lot.

Final stage SA-X is actually the easiest fight, if only because you're able to charge-beam it into submission, not even giving it a chance to shoot.

  • Well, Deadpool does it regularly, Gilgamesh smashes it (literally) with his face in Dissidia 012, Samus apparently Shinesparks through it, causing Adam to notice us.

  • ...fourth wall:WHAT THE FU- -BOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM-

  • Epic easter egg.

  • NooB U Using Cheat For This Game? Pftt..

  • 0:24 is impossible for any human, this is a TAS

  • @elguaro3 I did this on my advance a long time ago. And I sparked in all of those spots, its kinda difficult, requires good nerves and a steady hand, but its very much possible.

  • I think games should do more stuff like this. The only other one I can think off the top of my head is in Metroid corruption, where in the intro, the garbled texts say you die in French. USELESS KNOWLEDGE!

  • That was so COOL!!! Crazy!!! Thank you SO MUCH for posting! Do you know of any tutorial vids for this technique? I totally want to try it! Also, is it necessary for 100% completion? Again, thanks! :D

P.S., people call this a sequence break, but it looks like you were backtracking, not moving forward. Is it because you were going somewhere that was blocked off after a certain event (minimal spoilers please) :)

  • @TheVengefulTortoise it is not required for 100% completion in order to get 100% u must collect all of the items in the game. if u want help with this task look up my friend xzero9091 he has several videos of me and him collecting all of the items i think u will find them very helpful

  • @metalgod542 - Ah, thanks for the info! :)

  • @TheVengefulTortoise Sequence breaking is simply reaching specific areas in a game (or places that trigger events, called "flags) in a way that the developers did not intend you to do. This can go from reaching the final boss of a game within 2 minutes of starting a new game file, when you'd normally spend 20 hours before reaching it, to this little gem in Nintendo history. In this case, you DO backtrack, but you're expected to reach that point later on. And thus, the developers had fun.

  • @Mackster44 - Ah, I get it now! Thank you for that reply -- quite a concise definition! :)

  • 4th wall broken

  • This was one of Chuck Norris's dreams

  • I love that you can actually Sequence break this Message in the American Version.

  • AWESOME....

  • Is it a sequence break if the programmers planed for it? And, where is the 4th wall in this game now!?!?!?

  • 2:27 goodbye 4th wall.

  • this is the original way this is good but i have over 70 gameshark cheats so this is no problem for me and my fastest time is 34minutes with 0 percent and 54 minutes with 100 percent and if anybody has a gameshark and wants the codes just leave a comment and you can use all of them but if you want to beat the game then you can only use 15 to 20 codes

  • Holy crap you have to keep your Shinespark charge for that whole underwater area o_O

  • Youtube has sort of ruined hidden secrets in games.

  • Wow. I didn't think Nintendo actually called it 'Shinespark'. Very interesting.

  • I know one other damn annoying way so the thing Is just to get further without diffusion but both are hard as hell to pull off

For the other way just do it normal WITHOUT downloading diffusion(which is only possible by a bug)

  • You are very good at this game

  • Dude, that was the best metroid playing action I have ever seen!!! That was just outright ridiculous..... But awesome!!!!!!

  • It's 2 days after watching this video and I'm only just realising...

    I can't do this.

  • @NeverendingTwilight4

When did they break the other 3 walls?... jk, i know what you mean XD

  • i tried it for 234958475839390284 days and a can't do it FUCK

  • It's like they know it's a Game. WTF!!!

  • @jepr91 That's called, "breaking the fourth wall."

  • @jepr91 NOW LETS BREAK THE 4TH WALL

  • You go back to it and say "No" at "Confirm mission objective?" and it will say something totally different!

  • SPOILER ALERT!

  • The trick, as people are asking, is this. When Samus builds up enough speed she gets that glow. It allows her to shoulder ram through certain obstacles at high speeds. However, you usually LOSE the aura after you perform one ram.

However, if you ram into a slope, Samus will keep her aura. So the author continually "rams" short slopes with high precision to keep the charge to go to an area and break through the wall.

0:20 and 0:24 look especially impossible for this trick.

  • @Ranemoraken this is the sort of commentary that needs +100 thumbs.

  • @Ranemoraken Another important factor of this trick is that Samus automatically engages the shoulder-ram when she jumps, unless she's doing a FLIP. Being careful not to just jump straight up is an important factor to the trick since that would force you to go into a shoulder-ram even if you aren't near a slope you can abuse.

  • Lol, breaking the fourth wall are we. Stop killing catgirls!

  • 4th wall 4th wall 4th wall

  • I like that the government official is one of the talkers.

  • I remember hurting my thumbs every day for weeks trying to succeed. Made it all the more awesome when I did. Probably close to 5k failures, though it's been years...

If you have a LOT of time to kill, getting to the secret message is very rewarding, and I highly reccomend you try it yourself, if you still have an old cartridge of the game.

  • You kept the boost... how?

  • @Rhino1004 shinesparking into a slope causes samus to keep running on the slope, allowing you to shinespark again. this was incredible, dude.

  • help im stuck in the water part without the red door

  • man did i wish i finished this game, it scared the crap outta me back when i was 12

  • whats the cheat or whatever to do that?

  • @21sizeman its not a cheat you just need to be really good at shinesparking

  • Adam: I wonder how many players will see this message...?

Samus: What the hell are you talking about?!

Adam: oh crap uh... I mean... nothing Samus go get back to work!

  • Forth Wall Breakage FTW!

  • Fourth wall, what fourth wall?

  • @KDavisJr86 when the game talks to the player

  • i figured this out as i was 8 :O

  • wow at an easter egg ha any was thats kool i mean wtf samus sud never have knon that they want to experement of the liquid thingys

  • rofl best secret video game message ever.

  • ummmm, wow, I would never be able to that, how long did it take you to pull that off?

  • I remember how long it freaking took me to finally get here. I was so proud, I saved it as a separate file.

  • You're really ridiculously amazing. I'm ALMOST done it before, but after reaching the final area where you jump and boost through the wall, and FAILING, i just gave up XD.

Incredible work. Pat yourself on the back...again. For me.

  • Holy crap it's the only sequence break in Fusion! lol

My respect for this game increased, if just a little.

  • is this hacked because it is impossible to keep shinespark that long

  • Forever secret...

  • Can someone explain to me why it is so difficult to get back to that room?

  • @FriedChckn13 You need to Shinespark through the wall at about 0:40, but you don't have enough room nearby to charge it, so you have to do it from further away and keep it by Shinesparking into those tiny slopes to get running at full speed again and storing the charge repeatedly.

  • That.. was intense.

  • I was trying to do this using Ice missiles instead in the room where you're suppose to use the diffusion missile. I can't do that at all...

  • Hax shinespark is hax.

  • "That's our Samus Aran!"

This is the part where I emulated canned laughter.

  • @ElfySan This comment should be featured on the fucking YouTube image for everyone to look at, and when you click the text, it plays the cheesy laugh tracks from the 50's.

  • bump

  • and awaaayyyy!!

  • I thought I was cool for being able to Shinespark all the hidden areas in Zero Mission. This, however, makes me a loser. ;_;

  • So what is the secret plans???

  • @ZAPPSOFT Probably raising cloned metroids in secret. (you accidentally stumble across them later in the game)

  • i dont get the dumn secret message how can you@3!""$·"! get it!!!??

  • What is the shinespark?

  • "I wonder how many players will see this message...?"

    As of September 8, 2010, 59,636. You're welcome Adam.

  • @Last4xis and...as of 1.5.2011, 75568.

  • "I wonder how many players will see this message"?

Well thanks to the power of Youtube, Everyone.

  • The only way I've seen this message was using that 'other' method. (No not Action Replay before you ask..)

I don't have the thumbs nor patience to Shinespark. But by god, I did try!

  • haha it asked how many players will see this message, well computer...alot now! XD

  • Samus is on her period seens she did a shine spark

  • This took me 2 hours, and a heart attack. But was worth it.

  • I love how Adam is just like, "... Okay seriously, Samus, stop screwing around." at the end there.

  • thats not difficult

  • What happened then? Did u finished the game normal or different?

  • Damn. Ever tried sparking past that 1% missile?

  • 1:59 "As a reward, let's fill her"

    I agree! :D

  • The convo was cool and all but it didn't explain who the hell that guy is...

  • Never was able to get the shine spark down.

  • Shin Getter's Shine Spark > Samus's

  • is this some kind of cheat? I dont mean the shinesphere i mean the fact that u have only collected 3 energy tnaks but am clearly over halfway through the game hence the screw attack .

  • @luvnotwar26 no. you have to be really good to be able to get this far with only 3. i can only do it with 4 total

  • lmao nice job

"that trick with the shinespark was very... ingenious.

(she's very pro at speed boost that's how :)

Dude: "that's our Samus Aran! How magnificent! Truly Magnificent!"

  • i dont get it, your just holding the charge, and your in the navigation room with a charge, besides the secret message, i dont get it???

  • That's pretty cool. I'm a Prime fan, so this Shinespark is foreign to me, at best. But it certainly is cool. Shame you can't own bosses with it.

  • Dude you have Skills !!!

  • wow

  • That was the same guy who was talking to the computer before Samus went to Sector 6... who is he?

  • so...what do you have to do to get it?

  • that is impressive.... i know much about metroid, but i cant controll it that good. although my friends say i am the best metroid player they know. well.... i know all kinds of enemys and endbosses....

  • I would never had seen this by myself, this shinespark trick is so hard to do for me. When I played through the game I didn't even know you could do it or that you could crouch while boost running.

Then I saw what you were supposed to do with it to get 100%, and I was like... ok, I'm not doing this, some people are made for this, other aren't :p

  • Epic win

  • how did you get this message?

  • @abautyproductions you have to get to a navigation room without collecting the diffusion missile upgrade (upgrade that makes your missiles have area of effect)

  • u probably don't want to know...

  • wow u shud teach how to play metroid fusion

  • @elgato9o pres butan 2 go

  • @HMRising ?!

  • dude your a pro man

  • 4th wall at the end?

  • Hear that sound? That was the fourth wall shattering into a million pieces. Well done, though. I certainly couldn't have pulled that off.

  • The 4th wall is not only applicable to games. This expression was originally born in Theatre, where in some plays the actors would say or do something so everyone would be aware that everything was not real and there were people watching it.

I think US people can see this in "Whose line is it anyway?".

  • how did you keep the shinespark for so long? it usualy last for 5 seconds....?

  • 2:28. the computer is a jerk.

  • Remembered when I did this on GBA emulator... was easier on keyboard though....

But this would never happen if it wasn't posted online... Get it? I mean who would think of all those paths to go through with shinespark...

  • @koldproxy people with to much time on their hands... lol

  • still man... this one was way out of the box to even think about it

  • @koldproxy

The one who WOULD HAVE posted the video? Get it?

  • lol what i meant was that if the information wasn't posted online, i dont think anybody would have done this trick....

  • @koldproxy

And what I meant is that if somebody could do a video about it (but he does not upload it and show it to us), it obviously means that somebody already did the trick (which means that not nobody would have done this trick...).

Get it now? XD I know, it's just nitpicking so, nevermind.

  • @koldproxy Are you sure though? A lot of people play through Metroid games with the express intention to complete it without getting a majority of the items. In a way, it was bound to happen eventually. At least, I think so haha.

  • "i wonder how many players will see this message"

    over 43,000.....

  • Talking to the players, talking about players, talking about things that don't exist in the game's universe plot but in ours. Like some npcs in games that say things like: "Press the A button" and such.

In Earthbound and some other games there are npcs that say that kind of thing but then say "I don't know what this means, what is an A button?" in order to not REALLY shatter the 4th wall.

  • Lol they did break the fourth wall doing that in super paper mario. Some guy says "to flip dimensions press the A button. What is this A button you ask? Don't worry, the people watching over us know what I'm talking about." Best wall break ever lol.

  • The 4th wall is the monitor screen that separates you from the game. The computer talking about "players" is breaking the 4th wall of the plot.

  • 4TH Wall ADAM!

  • ZOMG the 4th wall is shattered.

  • Metroid fusion has to be one of the greatest video game experiences of all time.

  • That was awesome! Games should do that sort of thing (adding random messages for very unnecessary tasks) more often!

"I wonder how many players will see this message...?"

    =D

  • I once blew a whole afternoon trying to pull this off.

    Good times.

  • but then how do you get the missile?

  • the point is that this allows you to skip the missiles

  • Comment removed

  • it took me days to do this always failed that second to last one with the power bomb

  • Lol how do you shinespark for so long?

  • do a shinespark against a hill and press in that direction and instantly down. In Super Metroid, Samus would just continue the shinespark up the hill. In Fusion and Zero Mission, she goes from flight to running mode. pressing down would "save" the shinespark again, restarting the counter.

And Ive never been able to do shinespark like this. I envy the players with such skills. Great job :)

  • You clearly are the greatest Metroid Fusion player in existence. Ever. I should be taking notes.

  • I've never been able to do this.

  • Amazing of how you got that far with only 3 health bars!

  • The metroid fusion sound track has alwayz spooked me out ....man reminds me of the good old days.

  • wow dude how did you find that thats genius

  • FOURTH WALL ABSOLUTELY BROKEN

  • Hahaha.

  • @B3LiiZ32 I've seen it broken worse

  • @B3LiiZ32 whats the fouth wall? i dont get it

  • @marlan35

An easy way to think of the fourth wall is as a TV screen, or in this case, a game screen. It's what we look through to see into their "world." Well, when someone in a TV show, movie, game, etc, acknowledges the audience, it's referred to as breaking the fourth wall.

  • @marlan35

Breakin the fourth wall means when a game is aware that its a game. In this case, the fourth wall was broken by Adam saying "I wonder how many players will find this message", meaning the game is aware its played, but its only a easter egg, meaning that isn´t realy canon. I mean, what Metroid fan doesn´t want the series to a real universe and not some stupid connection between game and player.

  • @marlan35 It is the wall that keeps fantasy from acknoledging reality.. TV shows and Video games, sometimes tend to break it.

  • I wonder how many players would see this message without the internet.

  • @B3LiiZ32 Lol its almost like Alec in the begginning of Mother 3 XDDDDDD

  • @B3LiiZ32

    Using shinespark

  • @B3LiiZ32

It was that power bomb she used :D

  • 4th wall broken! I love this, you don't see this kind of easter eggs in Metroid games very often,or in Nintendo games in general.

  • Hey, it's Justin Bailey!

  • IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!
