Have been watching your videos to try to learn more about my car.Been having lots of frustration over noises! Brought in to a mechanic and got my drums, pulley, belt, brake pads and shoes all replaced (said it would fix loud 'cracking' noises made while I would brake.) A week after, very low noise made while braking. Brought it back-mechanic said ball joints. When I left my car starting making very loud squeaking noises while driving, he said the noise would go away? Totally confused.
@sncl9252 get a second opinion, and basically, don't use that guy again, He obviously does not road test cars to see if they are fixed. MANY things can make noises, he should havbe tested it.
hey scotty can u help, ive been having a problem with filling up my tank of gas lately. when i put in like $20 worth of gas.. within a wk its depleted.. and i think there's something wrong with the gauge..because when it DOES get low near E .. i start driving and the needle goes up a lil.. any thoughts?
@Blokheadz probably need a new sending unit in the gas tank. As for gas mileage, fill it up , drive on the highway somewhere, and fill it up then. See what the real mileage is.
@Toyota4Runner4Ever read the sticker on the dipstick. If it says it never needs changing under normal driving, change it every 100 thousand miles anyway. If it says nothing, change it every 30 thousand miles. Scotty
@scotty i changed the traany fluids i think last novenber and disconnected the valve body electric connect, then sprayed it with sensor/electric cleaner. i began to think cause of the milage tht mab i do need a more synthetic blend but dont want to mess it up if wht the other guy says is true.
@omarG19100 sometimes they just wear out like that. But, if you change the tranny fluid and filter, put in fully synthetic fluid, AND a quart of lucas tranny additive, it may get better. See that work quite often. Scotty
love this...ok I have a geo metro 95 hatch back 3 cylender my tranny went..5 speed..how hard is that to rebuild yourself does it take any special tools or do parts have to be pressed on...or is it farly easy???? my boy friend wants to do it but had these questions. thank u Linda
Hi scotty? what do I study to build High performance motors and race cars I want to 1/4 mile race cars in my home but dont know where to start can you help me??? or point me in the right direction, hopefully in monday im going to college to get some infon in some automechanic clases and welding to take care and thank you very much in advance your buddy hecliffthecat
today it appeard the CEL. its on a nissan sentra 2002. the codes said that its the MAF and the o2 sensor. replaced the MAF and didnt help at all. any ideas?
Can a car be damaged from too much oil and cause it to have too much pressure, thus resulting in something being blown, then, being pushed further down road, til it smokes and stalls, then oil is completely gone, and think rod bearing is now loose or broken??? My brother did this to my car, now it's broken down in VA. Any help on what might have happened?
You need to find an older mechanic with the scanner and software to read that old thing. Once he puts his scanner on, he would select ABS system, and the code or codes would just pop right out on the screen. Scotty Kilmer
@TheTarrMan check near the brakes on each wheel to see if your abs wires to the sensors by the wheel are snapped....thats a common issue....and is a free/ cheap fix.

@scotty oh ok cuz the engine have like 180,000 on it and someone told me not to change the fluids or it ma not shift. Is this true?
omarG19100 8 months ago
@omarG19100 Yes, it could cause problems. If it shifts fine now, leave it alone. But if it's working poorly, heck, it's worth a gamble then. Scotty
scottykilmer 8 months ago
@scotty can you tell me how to improve smooth shifting in a automatic tranny? Sometimes i get a thump when shifting.

@lindacrnll forget rebuilding that, they are VERY complex. Try a low mileage used junk yard tranny. Scotty

@Fierythefaerie You've got it. Too much oil will blow seals, then all the oil can leak out and boom. Seen it happen many times. Scotty Kilmer
