It is a solvent and has even less lubricating property than gasoline so it can dry out the cylinder and rings causing wear. I generally don't believe in any "mechanic in a can", but I've used CD2 Stop Leak on two of my 15+ year old cars, and it actually can stop minor seepage caused by old age (they didn't see much use, and the seals would tend to dry up from just sitting around in the driveway too long). If a seal is heavily worn or cracked, of course, only a proper replacement will fix it.
Anybody that uses seafoam is a dumbass, that junk washes your oil from your cylinder walls and destroys your compression rings on your pistons. So no it will not help you at all. Do your self a favor and buy a head gasket kit, pull the heads and clean, polish, and remove build up that way. Did you see how this car is blowing blue smoke after the process, yeah thats not carbon build up its oil from your crank case blowing past your piston rings.

I doubt it would cause that problem. Seafoam is a detergent solvent, but also has the lubricating properties of an oil. Granted, it's a pretty thin oil, but I don't see how running it through your cylinders for only a few minutes would cause any sudden increase in wear and tear.

pouring seafoam in your engine then blowing it right out is not doing much for your engine. in fact you could hydro lock your engine or throw a rod. the seafoam needs to go in at a slow rate through a small vacumme line. the tool i made takes about an hour to get 1/3 of a can of seafoam in the engine. if you can't do it right you need to take it to a shop. less than $100.00

@lt1tyrell actually I put it in my dodge ram (50,000 miles) when i bought it and it didnt smoke. Also an older jeep that didnt. I first put it in a i6 jeep larado that had terrible response and it smoked really bad and the engine started stalling and missing something terrible. was scared I f-ed the engine. after about 5 minutes of running the jeep ran like a dream again. Every since then I have put it in every vehical I have owned. I dont buy all the bs the sell at autozone either. Try it

@lt1tyrell No it doesnt dumbass. I keep the maitnence on my vehicle up to a key, even more so on the engine. Its ten years old and poured some in for the first time last week and got absolutely no smoke. It is clean the ccarbon build up in the engine. Thats what the white smoke is. If you don't know then don't comment.

im sure u have been told this but, u only put 1/3 can into the brake booster 1/3 into gas tank, then you let the car idle for about five mins, then rev it up and take it for a drive, it is supposed to smoke to blow out the junk, but it smoked that much cause i guess you put alot more then 1/3 can into it, lol. Where u releaved when it cleared up

@GusTheBus82 That' doesn't apply. Preventive maintenance is always better (for the consumer) than waiting for something to break/fail.
For instance, when a timing belt breaks you're dishing out more money and have more down time than if you change it in regular intervals.
If you drive until your tire(s) blows you're risking messing up a lot more things and potenitally killing yourself and others than if you do preventive maintenance and change them (when they aren't "broke").

pouring seafoam in your engine then blowing it right out is not doing much for your engine. in fact you could hydro lock your engine or throw a rod. the seafoam needs to go in at a slow rate through a small vacumme line. the tool i made takes about an hour to get 1/3 of a can of seafoam in the engine. if you can't do it right you need to take it to a shop. less than $100.00

the fuel induction cleaning he is talking about is basically the same thing but a little better. the stuff they use is stronger and they put in closer to the intake. it goes in a a bottle the drips it into the intake like an i.v.

I've been hearing a lot about seafoam but kinda scared to use it. It seems like it's so good, for EVERYTHING, gas tank, oil, etc..lol.
I'm guessing the white smoke is the carbon build up that is being dissipated by the sea foam? last oil change I had, the mechanic tried talking me into gettinga "fuel induction" service, which as he described, seems to be about the same as sea foam, supposed to dissipate the carbon build up in the engine, etc. by feeding a solution through the engine and tank.

callme507, I am pretty sure a Z06 would completely smoke a 300zx. If it is such a good car, why did they stop making it? There have been a few bad corvettes over the last 56 years, but it was never bad enough to get canned. Besides a 300zx has 300hp, mine has 425hp stock and the new Z06 has 505hp stock. I have done 12.6 in the quarter at over a mile high. Plus mine isn't some sort of crappy tin foil built japanese car...it's american baby!!! Even my Audi would beat your 300zx.

No see the Corvette is now on it's 55th year. Nissan stopped making the 300zx in 1996. The 350z was based on the 1999 240z concept, not the 300zx. Also the 350z did not go on sale until 2002, so from 1996-2002 there was no Nissan Z car because the car sucked and they couldn't sell enough, plus Nissan was in financial trouble. As much financial trouble as GM has been in in the last year or so, they have still managed to make the Corvette every year since 1953. Corvette wins. Nissan sucks.

Last time I checked the Corvette held the record at the Nurburgring. Oh and that was also a car with a leaf spring suspension and a pushrod engine. Not to mention that the Cadillac CTS-V is also the fastest sedan around the Nurburgring...also with the same pushrod engine. When was the last time you saw a japanese car win an endurance race? Corvettes are perennial winners at LeMans every year, as well as Sebring. Sounds like your theory is crap.
