Hey again! I am using Looper and enjoying it a lot but problem: Say I play a 2 bar bass pattern. Add drums. Then guitar. Okay livable. I add another guitar. They all play back on the same channel same volume, same tone. Really two questions:
1. Are you panning in this demo such that sounds appear on left, maybe your first guitar part so the second one doesn't smack into it, "dead center" of stereo field.
cool man! where do you get the guitarsound from ? is that in abletone as well ? (don't know anything about ableton - sorry if it is a stupid question) .. nice work :)
hey man i just posted a video response, I saw ure setup and was wondering what ure setup inside ableton was, and was curious if there is a more efficient way of doin it, then the way i set it up, thanks
@warchild1976 I have my clip launching quantized to 1 bar, so that when I start a loop recording, whenever I hit the button, it will automatically snap the end of the loop to the next bar which makes it loop up perfectly in time.
@deejayollie I've got the drum parts set up on separate tracks that I can trigger with the APC40, which is also how I arm the different tracks for recording on.
@deejayollie I have the input set up to only let audio through if a clip isn't playing. What I'm recording is the dry input from my guitar, which Guitar Rig makes sound like a regular guitar (rather than the actual output signal from GR), and when I stop recording/start the loop playing, it automatically stops playing any audio from the input channel I'm recording on.
This is great, love the color of that strat too. Check out our video on Loops with Ableton with Jonathan Clark, just click our name and its in our videos since we cant post links on here. But I think with your knowledge, and his knowledge, you could do great things.
@bobyaheadtothemarley I'm using a Cakewalk/Edirol UA25EX interface. It's got a couple of TRS-1/4" combination input, and I'm just running a regular 1/4" cable from my guitar into one of them.
@warchild1976 Thanks for the kind words. The guitar is a stock Made In Mexico Fender Strat running through Guitar Rig 4. I think it was the "Where the streets have no name" preset that I modified.
@matty0h The looping program is Ableton Live, and the synths are some of the built-in presets the Suite version comes with. You can record different loops (which are called clips in Ableton) on the fly, and then set them to repeat until you stop them. The thing I'm pushing buttons on (which makes the whole process much, much easier) is the Akai APC40, which is specifically built to interact with Ableton. The guitar is running through a software-based amp simulator.
@agent314 so you are not using the looper? could you please explain how do your set the clips to record for only a certain amount of bars?(because i've only seen you hit the start recording for the guitar loop) and also, how do you set them to repeat after you have recorded them? thanks! :)
@putokappa What you don't see is that I have a Novation Launchpad offscreen that I'm hitting to repeat them :D
I set them to loop immediately by hitting the play button on the respective clip slot as I'm recording, which starts the loop at the next quantize point.
really cool bro like a marilyn manson and timbaland jammin stuff

This is sick!!!! Love it. Good work. What type of keyboard is that?
SuccessfulPossible 5 months ago
@SuccessfulPossible It's an Axiom49 from M-Audio. All the sounds are coming from Ableton though - nothing onboard on the keyboard.

cool how do you setup the tracks midi mapped to your drum machine and how do you get to the next track to record?

@agent314 Cool thanks for the tip...The only problem is how did you get rid of that Echoing feedback when you used the overdub loop?

@RemcoMusic That's an M-Audio Axiom49. I've since upgrade to an Akai MPK49, and am quite happy with it.
