@dobermann1973 I'm sure if you bought some new tubes and played around with it a lot you could make it sound a bit like it, but if the JCM800 sound is what you're after you'd be better off saving up and buying one of those
@scorpion65100 JCM800 has a more vintage sound its .The JVM has more of a souped up jcm2000 sound plus it has 4 channels 3 modes per channel i know some one said you cant get a JCM800 sound from this amp but you can crunch channel in red mode works great for stock jcm800 tones, the od1 mode in green work best for modded jcm800 tones. the jvm in my opinion is the best amp sise the Marshall plexi.
Good stuff buddy. Just aout to step up and buy my first Valve.
One thing I cant get my head round however...
I understand each channel has a reverb channel. And you can turn the reverb on or off with the footswitch. But lets say you wanted to launch into a lean tone with reverb all of a sudden... Does that mean you have to go from No reverb at all to ON? Is it not possible to have light reverb on my rhythm sound and a different ammount on my lead? Please respond buddy thanks.
@CastAirLead There's a different reverb dial for each channel, and the footswitch remembers whether reverb is on or off for each channel, so you can have different reverbs on for each channel - you can switch from a rhythm sound with light reverb straight to a lead sound with much more reverb, by pressing one button
@evilotto77cheese Cheers for the responce. But what I'm saying is you cant have OD1 Orange with reverb with your rthym sound then switch have to you lead sound which is also OD1 with extra reverb? Your lead channel basically had to be differenty from your rythm e.g OD1 Rthym, OD2 Lead if you want reverb on both?
@CastAirLead Oh no, you can't do that. OD1 has a specific reverb set for the channel. You can switch from green to orange to red mode from the footswitch, but that channel's reverb will stay the same
@evilotto77cheese Ok thanks mate for information. Because I'm upgrading from a shitty Line 6 Spider 2 150w stack I'm used to be able to do that. Do you usually just put on the reverb and extra volume for a lead boost? or do you have your lead sound on a diff OD channel?
@CastAirLead I usually have OD2 Red set up as my rhythm sound, with a bit of extra bass and less treble and the gain turned down, and OD1 Orange as my lead sound, with a mid boost, low bass and more gain. As for reverb, I have a bit more on the lead one but I don't have much on for either channel
I saw you switching between pickups, when there came no sound on the crunch cannel.... Do you also have the problems with th contacts on your epiphone? Do you know if this problem only appears on epiphone guitars or even others... cool video by the way
@slashGNR5721 Well when I play, I like to have the resonance on about 5, presence on 6, bass quite low on about 3 or 4, mids 5, treble 5 or 6, little tiny bit of reverb... and channel volume on about 8, that depends on the situation though. Just play around with it for a bit, see what sounds best to you
like classic marshall tone- zeppelin, acdc, clapton stuff. classic plexi crunch. i already hav my lead tone and all tht jus need that classic marshall crunch
hey great video dude. im 15 and have this amp w/ a 1960a cab. i play at very low volume cause im n my room and my family is watchin tv or somethin. i got my lead, clean, and shredding tone down. im struggling 2 find a good plexi tone. can u tell me which channel, mode, and settings sounds best 4 plexi?? thnks
the only amp that can get the "plexi sound" is the plexi i know from experience( i own a 1969 plexi and a JVM410H both are awesome in there own way but if i had to choose only one it would be the plexi) that sound comes from 2 things (1) having a the volume on 10 (no pre amp gain control the gain on the plexi is mostly from the power stage witch you can only get buy having the volume cranked) on newer amps the gain leans toward the pre amp stage (2) no frills or fx. just volume and eq.
I just sold my JVM. Honestly I loved it, then I played a Splawn quick rod. Everyone needs to try out a splawn, they are what the JVM was suppost to be in my opinion! If not check out the Amber od2 on the jvm!!! Both amps sing, but the JVM is noisy!!
I have the exact same amp. However, I have a full stack. I have the exact same Gibson Explorer. However, I put a set of Seymour Duncan Phat Cats in it. I'd also like to say that you kind of play the same way I do. I would also like to say that I think this is one of the greatest videos that show exactly what the JVM410H is all about.
Would you say it still sounds good even when its turned down this low? Because for that kind of money I want to play it in my home too, not just for gigs.
@EuphorbusBTB The key is in the word 'master' - a master volume on an amp means that the tubes are always pushed, no matter what level the amp is set to. While it's true that when the amp is louder it does seem to have a slightly sweeter tone, this is due to other factors than how much the tubes are being pushed. The old 'volume is tone' addage actually comes from the older tube amps which didn't have master volumes on them
@seb23490 I got mine from GAK. They were £700 online when I bought it and £950 in the shop. I think they've gone up in price since I got it though, it's £945 from there online now
you know before i watched this video i just got done watching this pod one and i asked if you were back at home and if you said yes i was going to ask you to do a video with your explorer and. It turns out your ahead of me

not sure which one to get, this JVM or JCM800 for a full stack using 1960 A+B cabinets, any suggestion?
I know that the JCM is more knob friendly, and probebly less troubleshooting
but whats a better buy?what sounds crunchier between the two?

@jaydog664 Well it's all down to personal choice really - I play a lot of metal and I have OD2 if I'm playing rhythm and OD1 for lead stuff
