@thelyniezian - there's a way out of the maze. You get a lot of points for escaping and then get thrown into a different maze. If you see the exit, you'll know it because it's really trippy looking.
What I love about this game is even though it's old, it plays on its age for quality. The environment and sound effects are minimalism at its best, and really create the atmosphere. The only I would change if I could is the look of Rex, because by today's standards he is far too cartoony. Otherwise, the game is timeless. Evans is a genius, indeed.
Yes, computer games have come an enormous distance. 25 years from now I expect we will see some amazing leaps in the way we play computer and video games. Most likely, holographic projectors and images indistinguishable from the real world. It is going to be an exciting time to watch their development. I hope I live long enough to see.
As great as that sounds, total immersion in these games will create a whole new set of problems, like people that never want to leave the games! I remember once playing a DOOM game for too long, and afterwards (for a split-second) thinking I could "reset" something that I did in the real world! Could a First Person Shooter in 3D/5.1 with a helmet lead to a person pulling the trigger too quickly in real life?
is that music part of the game or just added in the video?

Is there actually a way out of this maze, or is it just how long you can run around before getting eaten?

@thelyniezian I think the end answered my own question, of course...

Is it fair to say that the Sinclair ZX81 (with 16k ram pack) had the very first ever 3d rendered game? What came before it if not?

If you liked this game, also try Dungeons of Daggorath, which came out in 1982, but was even better, imo.
I've never played this but it looks interesting.
