yes, i know if you don't assist the dog the puppies might end up with hernias. I agree with you but, the dam can lick the puppies on her own. see what you did there? when you tried to take off the membrane the mother kept squirming. chances are, she might hurt the puppies. Hello, Thank you for your response. I have found that when I don't assist, the puppies end up with hernias. The mother is just to aggressive with the cords. I have also witnessed a puppy dyeing when not assisted. Small breed dogs tend to require a little extra help.
