Now, let's move onto a metaphorical country where conceiled weapons are mandatory and require yearly training to make sure you can use firearms correctly and as accurately as possible. Branching off from there, for such a country to exist it would need two things: 1)more gun training facilities, and 2)extensive firearm production.

Nuclear power is great until you have to dispose of tons of radioactive tools, machinery, clothing, construction materials, etc used in building the reactor. The average amount of violent crimes in Britain per year is 1,158,957. As of 2010, Britain had a population of 62,262,000. For the US, however, in 2010 we had 1,246,248. However, we have a population of 308,745,538.

We always have an idea that the world will somehow bring itself into a state of total peace, but the sad fact is that there will always be nations that have conflicts with one another over some interest, and as long as interests conflict, there will always be war, and with some nations being weaker than others, there will always be corrupt leaders and corrupt government.

@cornskid You present an interesting, though I feel unrealistic, point of view. You can't just keep burying highly toxic, scalding, radioactive waste in the soil and expect nothing bad to happen. You can't have hundreds of Fukushima power plants and expect a safe environment. There is absolutely no reason to pursue nuclear energy when we have a limitless supply of energy from solar and geothermal. Use that same desert to generate solar energy and our energy problems are virtually solved.

Knowing North Korea I dont think we should be worried. If they would be determined to blow up someone with a nuke they would probably have to resort to sling shooting it, or delivering it on a truck covered by tarp. Nuclear power is great until you have to dispose of tons of radioactive tools, machinery, clothing, construction materials, etc used in building the reactor. Then what happens when you de-commission the reactor? They don't run forever. Gotta find a salt dome somewhere to stash it all for ten thousand years

Chernobyl positively killed 56 people; no other identifiable deaths or "bumps" in mortality statistics, including hard and soft cancers aside from thyroid cancers or in birth defects, are known. Thyroid cancer deaths (4) are included in the 56; perhaps 4000 people got thyroid cancers but were cured.

@Redbatray You're wrong again. Do you know how many close calls there were in the Cold War? There were at least two cases in which the order was given to fire nuclear bombs on the United States. In one case, the guy who the order was given to didn't believe the US actually sent nuclear weapons headed to Russia, so refused to send a retaliatory strike. The other case was in 1962. The US cornered a Soviet nuclear sub. The Soviets, thinking the war had started...
