Both of these cars are absolutely crippled by their automatic transmissions. The is300 is also crippled by it's manual transmission because Toyota's w55 is made of glass. The tsx isn't loosing near as much power through the drivetrain as the is300 so these cars are very equal in speed (even though they are both slow in stock form) regardless of their weight and power differences. Both are outstanding vehicles.

if it was a grey tsx with aftermarket K&N filter or a cold air intake with a throttle body spacer for added HP, then actually use manual and tune the ecu, I say the tsx has a chance... if you think it doesn't go buy the new lfa! or if your a acura fan wait for the nsx to come back because I heard they are going to be competing with lexus' LFA(2012!?)
We are talking about the USA market. IS200 never existed in the states. Also, the IS250 isn't the same as the IS300. The IS300 has a very tunable 2JZ engine while the POS IS250 doesn't have any good aftermarket goodies.

I think it isn't all that performance. This is why it lead to some consumers saying its a "girls car" or "if you want performance get the 350" or "IS250 got no potential". I think Lexus made a mistake by making IS300 into 250/350. The IS300 is better than the IS250 in terms of performance.
The IS250 comes as a Luxury vehicle with sporty name and features. The suspension of the vehicle is soft. Meaning if you ride an IS the ride is comfortable, which I have done. Friend owns one. I also drove it. The steering is numb. Don't have to prove it. You go drive one. Any IS owner knows that the IS handling is a joke.

When the Is300 first came out, consumers bitched about the ride height; A minor issue. They had to revise the suspension. The IS series suspensions are too soft while the TSX's suspension is stiff. Making the TSX handle better. Also the TSX's steering is more direct and responsive while the IS series are not. You know whats a bigger fail other than yourself? A FWD that handles better than a RWD. TSX handles better than the IS and the G from Infiniti. They made there suspensions too soft, which killed the handling.

no surprise here. the TSX has a i4 2.4L engine. the IS300 has a V6 3.0L engine. they weigh about the same but the IS has a lot more torque because of the added displacement. was the TSX the auto or 6spd?
"dhp90" Doesn't even look like 3 cars length. Looks like about 1.5 cars length. 3 cars is really noticeable if it was. Also this is the TSX one before they gave it a face lift + a more powerful K24A engine. The one from 06-08 I believe gets more HP and torque compared to the 05 and under. The 06-08 one would be kinda even with the IS300, if its a 6spd.
TSX gets 32 MPG!

TSX wins! b/c you an't going nowhere if you run outta gas! Sad but true that many V8 Hemi trucks gets better gas mileage than the IS300!!

and I am sure the 250 is just about the same as a the old is300.
