@Stickittotheman7891 Thanks so much man, yeah, I was feeling it that night. This tune is so powerful and the lyrics are so heavy and for real. I couldn't help not doing it this way. Besides, I wanted to do a vid that would genuinely be fun to shoot, and off the cuff (but accurate). ROCK N' ROLL FOREVER!
@merlin2k7 I tuned the D-string down on C, the G-string down on F, the B-string down on A and the e-string down on C. If you want a "real" open F tuning you can tune the lower E-string up on F but you don't need this for this song. You don't have to tune the A-string.
@merlin2k7 If you'd like, you can watch the first few minutes of the "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp" tutorial which I recently uploaded. I explain on the video how to arrive at this tuning. Page used the same tuning for both "Stomp" and "Levee".
The tuning used for this song is CFCFAf; Jimmy Page used CFCFAc on "Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp" from Led Zeppelin III, which is an acoustic recording. The only difference I've ever been able to discern from using one tuning or the other is that it's for the riff starting at about 2:35 in this video, using only the A and f strings. I hope this was helpful for anyone who cares.
@achillestrojanhorse@achillestrojanhorse My bad! That was pretty stupid of me, I definitely knew that. I did get them the wrong way around in that comment, but I've never tried to use them that way around... because that would be wrong. Sorry about that. It gets confusing when you use too many alternate tunings. (But, judging by Jimmy Page's music, you can never have too many.)
perfect!
