  • great clip .. keep it up thanks

  • This is exactly what is missing from soaps of today and had led to their demise! If they only understood what is unique about soaps that is not found in any other form of entertainment! This was beautiful! The Days I remember!

  • Richard Guthre was a neighbor of mine for 3yrs...out apartments were on HOLLYWOOD and FULLER ave.... we had a ball out by the pool.... smoking some pot..and soaking up the sun...eating pizza at night....

    Miss U buddy!!

    Peter C in L.A.

  • I love this. I keep watching it over and over. :)

  • Cool to see the old footage!

  • What a soap! Doug brought so much class to the show--along with the Cary-Reid duo.

  • Does anyone else find it odd that Tommy and Marie are sitting so close together? hmmmm....

  • @charmedbrauden no, Francis Reid, Alice, just died earlier this year...a quick google of her name will prove it true... ;)

  • Wow this is great! I hope they use these classic clips for Alice's funeral/memorial. Thanks for sharing.

  • Frances Reid

    Born December 9, 1914(1914-12-09)

    Wichita Falls, Texas, U.S.

    Died February 3, 2010 (aged 95)

    Los Angeles, California, U.S.

  • Frances Reid rip 2010

  • Would love to see even EARLIER episodes, the rest of the pretty ladies of the late 60s to mid 70s. Carla Borelli (one of the many MARY ANDERSONS), Mary Frann (AMANDA), Patricia Barry (ADDIE HORTON WILLIAMS) , Susan Flannery (the FIRST LAURA ) and the two long-running SUSANS ( played by Bennye Gatteys and Denise Alexander).

  • I think that if Days has a memorial for Frances Reid - Alice Horton on the show that it would be great if they could do this song in memory of her. To me Frances Ried - Alice Horton will Never be Forgotten by the Days of our Lives Fans.

  • Wow, this brought back memories of the days I used to watch the show with my great grandmother. I'll be crying for a while.

  • Wow, stumbled across this by accident and it brought back so many memories. I grew up in front of a TV and the Horton's just seemed like a part of our life. Wesley Eure and all of the cast were masters of emotions with the ever changing fast twist that you looked forward to seeing just how it things could possiably work out! The one thing you new you could count on not changing on Days Of Our Lives, was the Horton's and their amazing love for each other.

  • now they're together in heaven. Even if they weren't lovers in real life.

  • This is one of my favorite videos with the Hortons because it shows most of the original set of Hortons. so moving especially now that Frances Reid has died, things will never be the same without Alice Horton around. = ' (

  • In Memory of Frances Reid...Always.

    R.I.P.

    December 9th 1914 - February 3rd 2010

    XOXO

  • Today, this has more meaning that most could ever know.

In memory of Frances Reid, we will be loving you- ALWAYS!

  • i wish they would do more singing on today's days shows. they have a lot of potential especially with chloe and stefano - it would be much more f un to see that than the depressing story lines!

  • Does anyone remember Rosemary Forsythe (seen here) as Laura Horton, and her last scene was as she was about to try hanging herself from the bedroom light fixture? I thought she was awesome and a bit dark as Laura, before the character later became campy. Does anyone remember the surrounding story? Thanks for the video!!

  • Thanks so much for this... My mom got me hooked on this soap and this is the best years of the soap i can can recall that this was Tom and Alice's favorite song. ...Thanks again.

  • this' so sweet ;))

  • I was mad that John and Marlena did not get a big sendoff or something other than 2 witnesses for a wedding and see ya.. so if they don't do justice for Frances Reid, the show can just ... well you know.

  • Julie was having an affair at the time if I remember correctly, or it might have been Doug. She was the "Sammie" when she was the younger star.. that is why she can spot trouble a mile away now.

NBC is having so many problems, no ratings.. TOO many times did DOOL let a star go instead of paying them what they wanted, only to have to pay to get them back later on. Sad.. Tony, Anna, Steve and Kayla, Chelsea... are all going soon.. I think the show has maybe 2 years before it's cancelled.

  • Maybe not even that long.

  • If this was 1979, Doug and Julie were divorced. Julie had gone into a deep depression following an accident that burned her face (obviously fixed by the time of this party) and pushed Doug away. In her despair, she had run off to get a quickie divorce. Doug was soon tricked into marrying Lee Dumond, but he and Julie started having an affair and remarried in 1981. The teenaged Hope showed up soon after that to take over the supercouple mantle with Bo.

  • I recall Julie being burned at a barbeque grill. The fire had become too high, I think. I distinctly remembered that. I was either 14 or 15 years old at the time.

  • Why was Julie sad? This was before my time so I am not sure what was going on.

  • this is one of my favorite DOOL scenes of all time-thank you for posting

  • what happen to the Hortons, it seems as they are disapearing slowly. Days needs to remember the families.

  • I know. I hope Frances Reid is OK. I don't trust them to erite a real funeral for Alice...

  • did Alice Horton die?

  • No. Alice is still alive as is her portrayor Frances Reid. She was last seen Christmas 2007.

  • That is what I thought. But I have not gotten to watch much lately.

  • @kristenburchfield unfortunately the actress who protrayed alice (frances reid) passed away on february 3rd her death has not been written into days yet they plan to air that sometime in may or june

  • @ashnashbffs4eva Oh thanks! I think it is kind of sad that they did not write it in when, when she passed! I hope they write her a good farewell. I would love to see all the old cast members come together for it.

  • @kristenburchfield alices farewell is supposed to air june 23, 24, and 25, and many past characters have returned to pay their respects hope this helps :)

i read it on a spoiler site

  • @ashnashbffs4eva Oh thanks! I am so looking forward to seeing all the old people!

  • @kristenburchfield Yes, last month, we lost our dear Alice, and many vets returned to the show, and will also have several vets back too.

  • this seems really stupid...but john lupton was my grandfather..but i never met him. so i was wondering which one is he?

  • He's the man sitting in between the little girl and the nun

  • Rick Guthrie who played David was one of my best friends. I was so shocked by his early death caused by a bad combination of heart medication (happens ofen) at 45. I miss him.

    Thank you for this clip.

  • Wasn't Michael Julie and the younger

Dr. Horton's son? Michael always thought Mickie was his father but found out it was really the younger doctor Horton (John Lupton). It has been so long I cannot remember.

  • Michael "Mike" was Bill Horton and Laura Horton's son. Mike was conceived out of Rape. Bill had raped Laura....Laura and Bill also had Jennifer...Laura was institutionalized for 17 years a few years after jenn was born.

  • I loved Days during this time. never missed it. Julie was always so dramatic.

  • The original Hope is there. She went off to camp as a child and came back as 20 something years old Hope. What happened to the child Hope and what's she up to now?

  • This is beautiful

  • I just ran across this. I know very little about the series, but Mac Carey was the nicest guy in the world. I went to Beverly High w/ one of his sons, my father wrote a series he did called "Dr. Christian" at a studio called Ziv. And Wesley I know -- just got a nice e-mail from him acknowledging a birthday greeting I had sent. I doubt if anyone would care, but "Always" was written by Berlin for a Marx Bros. show called "The Coconuts". George Kaufman had it thrown out, cause he hated it! R.J.

  • Wow! This is a fabulous clip. Trish (Patty) and David (Richard) were my first favorite TV couple. So great to see them together and happy here. I also loved Mike (Wesley) and Margo (Suzanne). I cried and cried when Margo died of leukemia. It's hard to believe how invested I was in the characters back then. Really wonderful stuff. Thanks for posting.

  • Also present is Julie's son David Banning(Richard Guthrie) and his wife Trish(Patty Weaver), Hope Williams(Natasha Ryan), Dr. Tom Horton, Jr. (John Lupton), Michael Horton(Wesley Eure), and his wife Margo(Suzanne Zenor).

  • This is actually 1979 because Dr. Tom Horton, Jr. is sitting beside Marie and the only year John Lupton and Lanna Saunders were on together was 1979 plus he left in 1979 and she came on that year so it has to be 1979. But yes how wonderful to see the Hortons. God what happened to this show?! Julie, Doug, Maggie, Mickey, Tom, Alice, Marie, Tommie, Trish, David, Bill,Laura, Michael, Margo...EXCELLENT. Thanks! Soapnet should play the reruns..its one of the only soaps that saved them.

  • This is very sweet...how I love these classic moments! =) Thank you for posting it.

  • This is much earlier than 1990.

  • Yeah I guess you're right. Doug went gray in the 80's

  • this is in 1980
