if we close the epa, the department of labor, the dept of energy, the dept of commerce, the dept, of transportation we can have clean renewable energy and more efficient cars.
funny that you mention the oil companys,Exxon made $10B in profit for the first 1/4 in 2011,the kicker is that they at the same time out of those "huge" profit payed $8B in taxes, which of course nobody talks about, doesnt fit the bad bad oil company sheme
i must say unions did once have a very strong place in the american society. however today that place is so much smaller that the need for such large unions has diminished to almost none. in my opinion the federal government should be the only ones not allowed to contract with unions exclusively. leave the private sector to themselves but why should the public sector be controlled by unions who may not do the best or cheapest job.
Don't fall for this propaganda, the working conditions in countries that do not allow unions are horrible. Unions gave us the 8 hour workday, 40 hour work week and overtime. If you want to go back to 15 hour work days with no labor laws be my guest but I do not.
@xxdiogenescynicxx yeh unions are good. but they had their time. i come from northwest IN. a huge steel mill area. or it was. my uncle and most of my family going back 65 years or so has worked in those mills. the unions did good things then they went back. my grandfather told me he would take a pay cut if that meant they would hire one more person. but the unions bleed companies. don't listen to this joker. the union is not your friend.
'Greed', 'me, my, mine', 'I don't mind stealing from you', 'what else do you have that I can tax?' "what else do you have that I can take', 'don't worry this is not a tax, it is simply a fee'. Hurry and order our favorite slogans today! But wait! For just an additional $18 billion we can double your taxes just for fun! Our amusement as you flounder under the stinking tide of sludge we pump out onto your backs is nothing you should notice. So yeah, I vote no to any Federal tax.

@FenrirLupus Who would be freeloading? The gasoline tax insures that only people who drive pay for the roads it is, in effect, a toll. Imagine if we stopped taxing diesel fuel, the truckers would be freeloading because they use the roads the most. Why should someone who takes the bus pay for road construction and repair? That is why a gasoline and diesel fuel tax are the fairest way to pay for public roads.
@christo930 - No gasoline taxes raise the costs of goods and services for every single person who purchases any US goods and services. So it isn't just a tax on people who drive. If you want a tax like that, you'd look at States that actually have taxes that only people owning automobiles pay. Ba-zing-gah!
@landasn If we made it a toll road it would have the same exact effect. Roads cost money to build, maintain and repair. That money should come from the people who use the roads and a gasoline/diesel tax is the most efficient way of collecting that money.
@christo930 - Who said anything about a toll road. Not, I - I said let the States tax those who own automobiles. IF you honestly feel that only those driving should pay for the roads but I would further argue that everyone in this Country benefits from the roads. Even those who don't drive themselves. They receive goods and services via those same roads. The bottom line is the gasoline tax is a tax that amplifies it's cost. The Feds use it to control us all and force the States to do things.
@landasn People who buy goods that are transported via roads pay for it through the increased cost created by higher diesel fuel prices caused by taxes on diesel fuel. Most states have a gas/diesel fuel tax for maintaining local roads. Taxing cars is kind of silly. Why should someone who owns a car but takes the bus to work (and therefor drive fewer miles) have to pay the same amount of people who drive every day?
@christo930 - Your the one arguing for Federal taxes, not I. You were saying that those who use the roads should pay the taxes. Taxing someone who owns a car or truck, is taxing those who use the roads. The likelihood that someone would buy a car and not use it, is relatively low. However,I for one think that since we already Federal tax income in this Country, also taxing anything else that you buy is double taxation. I think our Founders got very angry about something just like that.
@christo930 - Who said anything about a toll road. Not, I - I said let the States tax those who own automobiles. IF you honestly feel that only those driving should pay for the roads but I would further argue that everyone in this Country benefits from the roads. Even those who don't drive themselves. What do you advise we do? I love most of what you say but you never tell us the next step :). What should we do if we agree and what to make something happen?

@FenrirLupus Tollways are too expensive to run with union change makers making $25/hr plus benefits. While I know there are very small numbers of buses and other fleet vehicles using propane or LNG, the overwhelming majority, over 99% of all vehicle miles driven are by diesel and gasoline. I would rather pay a gas tax then wait in toll lines any day.
Gasoline and diesel taxes are by-far the best and most fairest ways to raise funding for road construction, maintenance, repair, snow removal and salting etc. The more you drive, the most tax you pay through the fuel tax. The more efficient your vehicle, the less you pay. The only alternative is to have the public at large, like those that don't drive and those who drive very little, pay for roads for the people that do drive a lot. Truckers was get a HUGE tax break at everyone's expense.
I say let the tax expire. Besides, they can't really do anything if the House ignores the gas tax extension call. Their excuse? Easy! They have better things to worry about besides taxing everyone to death!
I have a question that might sound dumb, but im being serious, and i know this vid is the best place to ask it. Why can't you just take off one zero from all the currency so now our $10 bill is relatively worth $100 in comparison to other currencies. I'm sure im missing something important here, but I cant figure out why that wouldnt work. Also, i cant understand why it even matters what our dollar is worth in comparison to others' money. so it takes 2 of ours for 1 of theirs who cares?

@jms8220 What you are proposing would be a default on our debt and would raise the cost of imports by 90%. Considering our 60bn/month trade deficit, it would impoverish the nation.
@christo930 yea but see thats what i dont get, the total number figure we spend on imports would be raised, but we'd have more total dollars as well since the government would have printed more to cause inflation, so proportionally it'd still be the same cost...at least in my head that makes sense lol
Great points! I had a friend the other day tell me exactly that: oil companies bought elections. Yeesh! I like this person a lot, but that did make me just a leeetle peeved. >_<

@wolftech65301 "To paraphrase Shakespeare - First, lets kill all the Unions..."
Paraphrase? Is that what you republicans call paraphrasing? Try out and out bullshit!!! ...ahhh. It is " First, lets kill all the Lawyers" (Henry VI, Act IV, Scene II) Man every time you think republicans can't say or do anything more stupid then what they already have they surprise you!! You are deliberate Morons!! ...lol
My brother was a Union worker. He got laid off in Oct. of 2010. The Union bosses only told them that they were being laid off until May of 2011. Fortunately for him, his father is a manager of the company and told him that it was permanent. All of the time that he was there that is how the Union bosses treated them. It was like they were not people but a means to an end.
Here is the straight dope on "big oil" the gas tax. As the gov't puts severe suicidal restrictions on domestic oil exploration, the oil companies must import most of their product. That means they make NO profit increases when prices go up as they also must 1st pay those prices to acquire the oil.
Who does profit greatly by spiking fuel prices? Who incurs no cost from developing & transporting oil? Only the gov't. These prices are pure profit for the gov't w/ its gas taxes.
Good vid Steven. You know, I recommend to everyone on this channel (and everyone not on this channel) Thomas Sowell's "Basic Economics". The book talks about profit margins and how even the companies on the Fortune 500 only have a profit margin of about 6% on a very very good year. That means that when a business charges high prices, it's usually because they NEED to in order to make a profit. People, in their ignorance, often blame greed though.

The Tea Party tries to portray itself as a legitimate grassroots movement. But in fact it is backed by Big Oil and the corporate polluters (like the Kochs).
@jab07 and Obama fluffers are backed by George Soros (Nazi sympathizer and felon) and the corrupt, Mob-tied Union goons. In other words, Democrats are backed by criminals.
We either keep the federal gas tax, or we toll every single highway. There has to be a way to pay for new roads, fixing existing roads, etc. As much as people hate taxes, and I don't want them raised without reason, federal and state roads are not paid for with "magic beans and happy thoughts" either. Gasoline taxes are ways for making people that drive on those roads, pay for their cost. The only other options is tolling them, but I prefer the gas tax.
Boy I sure hope the POTUS borrows some more money from China to stimulate the unions. I don't know what I would do without my borrowed money from China union products, that are also produced in China and sold in here for cheaper than the unions make them.
@StevenCrowder. On the off chance you didn't know this already: As Palin was working the rope line after her Indianola speech, she mentioned to a young woman that she had seen your clip ("the one he did about gas") the day before. Couldn't catch all the words, but it was in reference to your picture on an advertisement for some upcoming event to which the young lady was inviting Palin.
@Shaitan051 They still are awesome.. What fantasy world do live in? What other place without those things do you want to live in? Oh and WTF if a "green job"?? why have they completely failed in Spain and well EVERYWHERE in WORLD?
Oil is used pretty much everywhere and the american tobacco industry has its nicotine stained claws in any country they can get to. Thankfully the NRA hasn't been as successful.
As for where I want to live, where I am already is fine. Canada appears to be a good country also, kinda like America without the psychosis.
Backing up to the German comment: You mean WW2? When you saved us from the Germans that had already surrendered by leveling 2 cities in an already crippled country?

Repubs want Americans to pay more for their gasoline, and more for their Medicare, while they want oil companies aka "campaign donors" to keep unfair profits and insurance companies to profit from rip-off premiums.

The NON-UNION jobs That i worked you would always get RIPPED OFF and YES i was the Most Productive Technician they had! The Managers would "fudge" number so you would not get BONUSES for ALL of YOUR HARD WORK!
I come from a working class background. My parents are both members of unions, and we have known financial hardship in our lives. While I agree with you that certain unions are taking advantage of their power, I want to make it clear that unions are not uniformly corrupt, and do serve a purpose in protecting workers from abuse.
You left out the fact government gets royalties. The higher a barrel of oil cost, the government gets more money from it in revenue. One reason you don't see higher margins being put on oil contracts to stop speculators from driving the cost up. It is a hidden tax put on the backs of working class blue collar workers at the pump. Just go look at the governments tax receipts for the last 4 years on oil royalties paid to them.

Hi I'm Steven Crowder... I lived in Canada for a long time so I'd rather Americans give money to Saudi plutocrats who fund Al Queda and dictators in Venezuela than make investments in good roads and mass transit here. I find the country of my residence full of incompetent retards who can't fill potholes, let alone build windmills to generate electricity.
We need to tax the poor and give more money to the rich so they can trade money with other rich people on the stock market.
There's the fundamental problem with your fk'd up brain. Govt doesn't "give" anything. In your little head, it's all the Govt's money & then they decide who gets what.
You belong in another country. We'll keep Crowder
@11111110: ROFL ~ you still can't grasp the BASICS. Nothing is "given" without first "taking". Why is that so difficult for the Liberal brain to penetrate?
And as I said, if you're pissed about tax credits, shouldn't you be in a padded cell somewhere w/Obama giving tax payer money ... cold-hard cash ... directly to his favorite corporate executives' personal bank accounts?
If the fact that nothing is "given" without first "taking" invalidates the things the government has given out, then wouldn't that make it technically impossible for anyone to give, anywhere?
Tell that to the Boeing, Xerox, Archer Daniels, and P&G who got millions in federal subsidies and then paid their CEOs tens of millions of dollars. You Republicans are as incapable of putting two and two together as one could think possible. Meanwhile, I bet you bitch and moan about people laid off from their jobs and getting paid $200/week. I mean, how dare they?
@mullikrk I don't know if you heard, but most repubs hate bailouts. Bankruptcies are necessary for better competition. (the banks may have been slightly different because of the FDIC, but "too big to fail" was a lie). The government still isn't "giving" money because it wasn't ever theirs to give. And when it is "given" we can't bitch if CEOs are paid according to contract. If you don't like the company's practices, you shouldn't have bailed them out.
@fizzingwhizbeee "I don't know if you heard, but most repubs hate bailouts." Well your politicians when in the white house sure do love giving them out...The truth is a bitch to the Republicans....lol
@gettysburgob3 Who's voted for the bailouts the past 6 years? The dems had control from 06-2010. Bailouts are not a democrat/republican thing. Both parties do it for political reason.
@orangeblood307 Yeah I am not the one saying it was .Your issue is with your fellow republicans .fizzingwhizbeee for example" I don't know if you heard, but most repubs hate bailouts." If you hate bailouts then why do keep votong and defending the people who have done more then their fair share? .Or is it just the old book of denial we get from the right all the time...very sad
@gettysburgob3 I'm not denying anything, but you made it seem as if the dems weren't voting for bailouts either. All I have to say is: Ron Paul 2012..... Fuck Obama, Perry, Romney, and possibly Clinton, they're all puppets except for Paul.
@orangeblood307 That assumption comes from you and has nothing to do with me. I do however find it interesting that you skipped over blatant comments by delusional republicans that do what you suggested. Ron Paul is the only honest person on that republican ticket. ,Ron Paul at least has been constant . As far as your Obama comment. I think the rest of the country has pretty much had it with comments from your ridiculous State. I thought you 7 Parry were leaving this country anyway. Please do

@wolftech65301 Agreed but there he is in the Republican debates...To believe that the Republicans have been small government is just Republican fantasy thinking. Say it but not doing it is how they recruit so many. Reagan the darling of the republican party was big government having out spent all 39 of the earlier presidents combined and that he did without a recession! Funny seeing a Libertarian swimming in that pool of fat gov. sharks
@gettysburgob3 Ridiculous state? Where would America get all their jobs if Texas were to succeed? California LOL? We would probably be in a depression if it wasn't for that "ridiculous state". What's wrong with my Obama comment? I just said he's a corporate puppet just like most politicians on both sides of the aisle. You can't argue with that. Ron Paul accepts NO MONEY from special interests, which can't be said about Dictator Obama or any other candidate.
@orangeblood307 Those jobs are a joke in Texas and you know it!! What is they say...."Yes I know Perry has created all those jobs, I have three of them and still can't pay my rent."..lol Frankly you can keep those jobs. You live in the State with the most pollution in the USA. You have had biblical droughts and 300 days of wild fires while republican Perry is guilty of for cutting firer fighters by almost half. You have given us the worst presidents and threaten us with another. NO THANKS
@gettysburgob3 FUCK RICK PERRY! I don't give a shit about him. He had little to do with the jobs that are created here, less regulations and lowers taxes attributed to that. Plus, the private sector is HUGE in Texas. Most pollution in the US, you say? We're not even in the top 10, so check your "facts". California is by far the most polluted state followed by Ohio. You can barely even see LA.
And sorry dude but Chicago gave us the worst President and Bush isn't even from Texas, dumbass.
@orangeblood307 Wrong again fat boy ! It is you who should check your facts but you Republicans don't really care about facts do you You just like flapping your big mouths in the wind and making fart sounds. Texas produces more greenhouse gas emissions than many countries, including the UK! You are number one at being filth Pigs linK /texas-tops-most-polluting-state-list-in.html Sorry if the truth is a bitch dunbass fatso !!
@gettysburgob3 - Only if you actually think that Cabon Dioxide is a pollutant. For me, I think I'd prefer to have liberal propaganda and mind numbing talking points declared a pollutant because it is certainly poisoning many minds in America and driving them towards the Reds, ooops, I mean Greens.
@landasn That is fucking retarded! Carbon dioxide isn't a pollutant because humans breathe it. It's a pollutant because the increasing atmospheric concentration of CO2 (caused mainly by burning fossil fuels, and *not* by breathing) is causing rapid climate change which is endangering public welfare. Thus according to the Clean Air Act, CO2 meets the definition of an "air pollutant". The (conservative) US Supreme Court confirmed this in Massachussetts v. EPA in 2007
@gettysburgob3 - It's amazing how fast someone without a leg to stand on falls back on name calling. CO2 is a trailing factor when it comes to global temperature. Meaning it goes up after temperature rises. As CO2 goes up, so does the size of the biosphere as evidenced by NASA's own data. Classifying CO2 as a pollutant is another means for the Progressives(Socialists) in both parties to control industry in the Country as they see fit. Creating more crony capitalism and making them millions.
@landasn" It's amazing how fast someone without a leg to stand on falls back on name calling."
So you are admitting that u don't have a leg to stand on as u are defending orangeblood307 who was the first to call names & has the same argument .Or in some sociopathic way that does not count to u ?
As for NASA, your talking about an article published in Forbes & both that article & that study have been solidly debunked. Dr. Spencer’s is a über-conservative funded by ExxonMobil . AIN'T FACTS A BITCH
@gettysburgob3 Funny thing is that NASA was on the budget cut list, however amazingly they suddenly find "a hole in the ozone layer" and boom they are back to full funding. How ironic that an organization which was about to lose funding and possibly be shut down suddenly finds a global disaster in the making that needs to be studied by them to determine what the possible effects are. NASA is as much about politics as it is about anything else.
@landasn" It's amazing how fast someone without a leg to stand on falls back on name calling."

No I just know and am for science...not the stupidity of blind ignorant denial....Yeah Texas ain't burning either just keep telling yourself that 300+ into it. I feel sorry for your children old man
@gettysburgob3 Lol, do you notice how you just name call without giving any evidence from credible websites? Do I anger you that much? Haha typical liberal pussy.
@orangeblood307 George W. Bush was Governors of Texas. To be Governor you need to have lived there. To have lived there and been elected there makes him from Texas . You are just in denial!!
@orangeblood307 He was your Governor and elected by you that makes him as Texas as the death penalty... ....enough said. ..Just deny until you fall off the face of the earth...right? I bet you still think the world is flat too....sad to be you tubby!
@orangeblood307 A fag...no I am not from Texas with a cowboy hat ( all hat no horse) and wearing tight pants around my big fat ass like you..lol As for Crowder videos Bubba I been on a few not all like you .By the way I work on computer at our family run business SO why don't you throw that cowboy hat away and loss some weight and go fight the fire before your house burns down fatass!! .They should call Texas the waterless wild firer big mouth fatass state...lol
@gettysburgob3 Well, where the hell are you from? I guarantee your state is no where close to being as productive as Texas. Let me guess, your pussy ass lives in California where all the other panzees live? If not, you should move there. I also work on computer at our family business but at least I'm productive at work and don't live on Crowder videos ridiculing people who disagree with you.
BTW, you're on every Crowder video I've ever been to, no joke.
@orangeblood307" Well, where the hell are you from?" Are you serious? You can't figure that out? lol

@gettysburgob3 Yeah, I'm on youtube while I'm at work but don't get on for even a second when I'm off, nor do I get on here for the sole reason to argue with people(unlike you). @orangeblood307 YOURE fucked up & delusional..I researched u & your all over the place & fucking with people day & night. It is u who comes at people with fact less ignorant stupidity backed up by an army of moronic, repulsive, lying, bitter hate filled assholes that have made all that shit they carry around in their cuts their politics. Proof again is that it is you that is on YT all the time. In the last day something like 30 moronic comments I see as u spread your shit REALITY SUCKS. BITCH
@gettysburgob3 Lol, WOW.... I'm fucked up and delusional? I'm not the 1 going around researching people like a psychotic nut! Did your crazy ass notice that I'm not on YT after 5pm or before 9am? It's called bored at work dipshit, just like you're so fucking bored you went and researched me! Lol I feel special.

YOU ARE RIGHT YOU ARE SPECIAL JUST LIKE YOUR MOMMY HAS ALWAYS SAID.LOL
@gettysburgob3 I never said I was fucked up and delusional.... You do know what a question mark means, right?? But, I do feel special that I have some loser searching my every move, kind of like how you do with Crowder..... @orangeblood307 "You're a tough guy behind that computer, aren't you?" Yeah I am nobody a fat old fart like you would want to fool with in real life either...now go clean your adult diaper we all know you shit yourself ... : )
@gettysburgob3 I even read where you're talking about me on another website lol.... You were acting like a child: "well orangeblood called me names 1st".... Wow how old are you? I just called you a dumbass, no need to get your panties in a wad haha.
You even watch Crowder on ehotwaterheatingDOTnet?? Wow, if you hate on him so much, why do you watch?
@orangeblood307 "I even read where you're talking about me on another website lol." Another website WTF...name it!! ahhhhh...You are stoned. Your talking about the time you and I were arguing ON YT and one of your tea bag kiss ass friends complained to me about calling you a name. and that that meant I lost for calling names first dahhhh. I mentioned to the fuck up that you had called names first so that you lost..Is that what your whining about YOU MUST BE 12 ahhhhh
@gettysburgob3 You we're talking shit about me on ehotwaterheatingDOTnet.

I work for a Scandanavian company so I reap the benefits of a corporate and economic culture that emphasizes human and worker rights. Yeah. I wonder how much money is spent and productivity lost on accidents caused by poor infrastructure, idling in traffic, or poor mass transit systems in the USA. I'm about as far to the Left as you can go and the reason I don't get on the bad big oil bandwagon is because they've made tremendous investments in alternative energy and fuels because they know-- better than this right-wing douche-- that the way we guzzle down fossil fuels is idiotic and unsustainable.
If Americans had to pay for gas like they do for products in a store it would cause riots in the streets. You buy items for $20 you know tax will be added so it will be around $21.75ish.
GASOLINE on the other hand you buy $20 in gas with out adding tax, the cashier rings it up with taxes now it's 27.08. SEVEN DOLLAR IS TAXES!!

Funny to see RepubliCons bitching about Unions. Guess their tiny brains are so easily brainwashed by Fox News that they'd rather stick up for big business and help corporations get richer instead of looking out for their own middle class families. Well what else can you expect from the right-wing
@Streetmastaalex: Perhaps that's because you're too ignorant to understand that union demands cause the costs to rise ...... excess costs that the middle-class & poor ultimately pay

@Streetmastaalex This fellow is a paid puppet. He puts a Canadian oil company pie up of a country that actually taxes the Oil companies up as if it some how matters here. Fact say the Oil companies are making record profits here and even in taxed Canada. The other chart is sneaky .I don't know nor does he explain what study this was. Facts are clear the Koch brothers under many different names have unduly influenced our governments. Just look at Wisconsin TRUTH IS A BITCH
@StevenCrowder I enjoy all your videos. Most make me laugh, but a few (like this one and the one titled "Detroit in Ruins! {Crowder goes Ghetto}") make me nod in agreement and beam at having learned something new. Please make more of these Nodders. (That's not to say. "Please make fewer of the Laughers.") Thank you.
I am a hard working member of a public union. I'd say you have no idea about our job security but I'd be wrong... you have a very good idea. It's insulting what my peers get away with and continue to make good money with good benefits. In the public sector I'd still be employed while my peers... well not so much.
@Frdmstang I appreciate seeing someone else acknowledge that publicly. I'm a member of the Teamsters Union and it's pretty much impossible to get fired unless you steal something. One guy called in to work 7 fridays in a row, which resulted in him getting "written up". I later found out that when one gets "written up" they are asked to sign the referral accepting culpability, but nobody HAS to. It sucks because I appreciate my union bennies but I know it's a big scam on businesses
Frdmstang - your whole union rests on democrat pension ponzi-scams and forcing the masses to support your early retirements! You answered why people hate unions now. You admit your peers get away with laziness and yet because you do not call the news or film them doing wrong? YOU ARE PART OF THE = "$CAM-A-PEN$ION $UCK-YOU-ALL-BU$TED-BROKE $Y$TEM"! ..you just want your big fat pension and will ignore that your keeping that pension rests on the rest of our broken backs and your keeping QUIET!
@Frdmstang It is terrible... I've seen many many teachers just through my education that have abysmal performance and still remain employed because of these unions.
It makes hard working people (like you) not want to care because you receive the same amount of benefit despite putting more effort in.
This is the why large officiating bodies (ie unions/government/corporate ) never seem to know what's actually going on at ground level...
Keep doing a good job though sir. We appreciate it
You are idiot if you think first that Fox news tells the truth ....second if you think a pie chart (Canadian oil pie chart at that ... You scammer ) by big oil is going to tell the truth..well if so then I got some swamp land in Florida to sell you. You would find more truth in Dick Cheney's book then in any chart this bought and sold scammer will show you. But these days you can get paid to lie thru your teeth just ask his buddy HowTheWorldWorks..This guy is just stupid shit for stupid people
@frankiecanuckLibrary I always smile when someone talks Fox News down. It's personally satisfying to see people get riled up about Fox News. Even the current but soon not to be President talks Fox News down. So inappropriate to see the President of the United States pin one particular news station down.
I don't know why you felt Fox News had to be brought up, but it seems if you want to accuse one news station of not telling the truth, you must admit the same for the liberal media as well.
@10com40cal I always smile when and laugh at the stupidity of people like you who believe what Fox has told them. The president of the United states has put Fox news down has he?. Do you have the quote or a link or is pulling bullshit out of your ass for the sake of bull shit all you got. Try again !! Fox news and its owner the Australian con man and proven criminal Rupert Murdoch are not news put a circus of lies and beyond any bias But if u watched real news you would know that wouldn't you?

@FenrirLupus Who would be freeloading? The gasoline tax insures that only people who drive pay for the roads it is, in effect, a toll. Imagine if we stopped taxing diesel fuel, the truckers would be freeloading because they use the roads the most. Why should someone who takes the bus pay for road construction and repair? That is why a gasoline and diesel fuel tax are the fairest way to pay for public roads.
christo930 5 months ago
@christo930 - No gasoline taxes raise the costs of goods and services for every single person who purchases any US goods and services. So it isn't just a tax on people who drive. If you want a tax like that, you'd look at States that actually have taxes that only people owning automobiles pay. Ba-zing-gah!
landasn 5 months ago
@landasn If we made it a toll road it would have the same exact effect. Roads cost money to build, maintain and repair. That money should come from the people who use the roads and a gasoline/diesel tax is the most efficient way of collecting that money.
christo930 5 months ago
@christo930 - Who said anything about a toll road. Not, I - I said let the States tax those who own automobiles. IF you honestly feel that only those driving should pay for the roads but I would further argue that everyone in this Country benefits from the roads. Even those who don't drive themselves. They receive goods and services via those same roads. The bottom line is the gasoline tax is a tax that amplifies it's cost. The Feds use it to control us all and force the States to do things.
landasn 5 months ago
@landasn People who buy goods that are transported via roads pay for it through the increased cost created by higher diesel fuel prices caused by taxes on diesel fuel. Most states have a gas/diesel fuel tax for maintaining local roads. Taxing cars is kind of silly. Why should someone who owns a car but takes the bus to work (and therefor drive fewer miles) have to pay the same amount of people who drive every day?
christo930 5 months ago
@christo930 - Your the one arguing for Federal taxes, not I. You were saying that those who use the roads should pay the taxes. Taxing someone who owns a car or truck, is taxing those who use the roads. The likelihood that someone would buy a car and not use it, is relatively low. However,I for one think that since we already Federal tax income in this Country, also taxing anything else that you buy is double taxation. I think our Founders got very angry about something just like that.

One other thing...The states charge their own gas/diesel tax as well, to take care of non-federal highways and local county roads.
christo930 5 months ago
Gasoline and diesel taxes are by-far the best and most fairest ways to raise funding for road construction, maintenance, repair, snow removal and salting etc. The more you drive, the most tax you pay through the fuel tax. The more efficient your vehicle, the less you pay. The only alternative is to have the public at large, like those that don't drive and those who drive very little, pay for roads for the people that do drive a lot. Truckers was get a HUGE tax break at everyone's expense.
christo930 5 months ago
I say let the tax expire. Besides, they can't really do anything if the House ignores the gas tax extension call. Their excuse? Easy! They have better things to worry about besides taxing everyone to death!

Why can't you just take off one zero from all the currency so now our $10 bill is relatively worth $100 in comparison to other currencies. Also, i cant understand why it even matters what our dollar is worth in comparison to others' money. so it takes 2 of ours for 1 of theirs who cares?

Here is the straight dope on "big oil" the gas tax. As the gov't puts severe suicidal restrictions on domestic oil exploration, the oil companies must import most of their product. That means they make NO profit increases when prices go up as they also must 1st pay those prices to acquire the oil.
Who does profit greatly by spiking fuel prices? Who incurs no cost from developing & transporting oil? Only the gov't. These prices are pure profit for the gov't w/ its gas taxes.
VictorLepanto 6 months ago 5
Good vid Steven. You know, I recommend to everyone on this channel (and everyone not on this channel) Thomas Sowell's "Basic Economics". The book talks about profit margins and how even the companies on the Fortune 500 only have a profit margin of about 6% on a very very good year. That means that when a business charges high prices, it's usually because they NEED to in order to make a profit. People, in their ignorance, often blame greed though.

EPA in 2007
AIN'T FACTS A BITCH BUBBA !
gettysburgob3 5 months ago
@gettysburgob3 - It's amazing how fast someone without a leg to stand on falls back on name calling. CO2 is a trailing factor when it comes to global temperature. Meaning it goes up after temperature rises. As CO2 goes up, so does the size of the biosphere as evidenced by NASA's own data. Classifying CO2 as a pollutant is another means for the Progressives(Socialists) in both parties to control industry in the Country as they see fit. Creating more crony capitalism and making them millions.

AIN'T FACTS A BITCH
gettysburgob3 5 months ago
@gettysburgob3 Funny thing is that NASA was on the budget cut list, however amazingly they suddenly find "a hole in the ozone layer" and boom they are back to full funding. How ironic that an organization which was about to lose funding and possibly be shut down suddenly finds a global disaster in the making that needs to be studied by them to determine what the possible effects are. NASA is as much about politics as it is about anything else.

@11111110 No. That doesn't mean we should continue renewing teh contract. You don't have to void contracts to get on a sustainable path, you just have to stop promising in the first place things we can't afford.

@2010GOP "You belong in another country"
I work for a Scandanavian company so I reap the benefits of a corporate and economic culture that emphasizes human and worker rights. The thought had passed my mind to do exactly what you mention but I guess, like people who were born in the ghetto, I do call this home and have some affinity for it. I suppose objectively I must be out of my mind, but I grew up in this banana republic with people like you. I just have to make due with it.

@mullikrk Lol, wow.... Do you have a life? Since you seem to live on Steven Crowder videos. You have no clue about basic economics and I can tell by your comments that you're not very educated either, can you hear yourself? You sound like an indoctrinated moron.
Obama's already tried to invest in "good roads" with his last stimulus, which was a disaster.... The federal government shouldn't be wasting time and money investing in roads AGAIN, that should be left to the states.

Yeah. I wonder how much money is spent and productivity lost on accidents caused by poor infrastructure, idling in traffic, or poor mass transit systems in the USA. I'm about as far to the Left as you can go and the reason I don't get on the bad big oil bandwagon is because they've made tremendous investments in alternative energy and fuels because they know-- better than this right-wing douche-- that the way we guzzle down fossil fuels is idiotic and unsustainable.
mullikrk 6 months ago

Streetmastaalex 6 months ago
@Streetmastaalex: Perhaps that's because you're too ignorant to understand that union demands cause the costs to rise ...... excess costs that the middle-class & poor ultimately pay

@2010GOP Guess that just offsets the money we allegedly save from these corporate whores destroying american jobs by sending them to chinese sweatshops. How much are you willing to save? Apparently the 50 cent difference in your goods is worth millions of American jobs to you

@Streetmastaalex: It doesn't offset shit. Typical Liberal who fails at basic math & basic business/economic principles ..... to the point of embarrassment. Get an education for shit's sake. Your stupidity sickens me.

So if this law isn't renewed, will gas prices will drop roughly 30% or does that percentage go straight to the states?

Frdmstang 6 months ago 33
@Frdmstang I appreciate seeing someone else acknowledge that publicly. I'm a member of the Teamsters Union and it's pretty much impossible to get fired unless you steal something. One guy called in to work 7 fridays in a row, which resulted in him getting "written up". I later found out that when one gets "written up" they are asked to sign the referral accepting culpability, but nobody HAS to. It sucks because I appreciate my union bennies but I know it's a big scam on businesses
thekurgan89 6 months ago 4
Frdmstang - your whole union rests on democrat pension ponzi-scams and forcing the masses to support your early retirements! You answered why people hate unions now. You admit your peers get away with laziness and yet because you do not call the news or film them doing wrong? YOU ARE PART OF THE = "$CAM-A-PEN$ION $UCK-YOU-ALL-BU$TED-BROKE $Y$TEM"! ..you just want your big fat pension and will ignore that your keeping that pension rests on the rest of our broken backs and your keeping QUIET!
memama2 6 months ago 5

10com40cal 6 months ago 3
@10com40cal I always smile when and laugh at the stupidity of people like you who believe what Fox has told them. The president of the United states has put Fox news down has he?. Do you have the quote or a link or is pulling bullshit out of your ass for the sake of bull shit all you got. Try again !! Fox news and its owner the Australian con man and proven criminal Rupert Murdoch are not news put a circus of lies and beyond any bias But if u watched real news you would know that wouldn't you?
