Interesting, well I am an Information Security student doing an assignment for my writing class regarding the "life of a software engineer". So I found your videos here useful thanks.
Math is only important when you have to apply it. Discrete mathematics is the most important oriented math used in software development. Sure, if you're in the field of game development then you need more than that. However, programming in general is not only about math, but logics and algorithmic thinking. It doesn't harm if you learn math by your self. Remember, it always depends on what you are going to program!
I would appreciate someone's insight. I 10 yrs in investment analysis and would like to enter into career of financial software development. How should I go about taking this new career path
I'm computer science student , and your words really encouraged me in studying programming languages. Thank you very much for this. I really wish to become a good programmer and work in USA :))
Yes $80,000 is enough for living here in the USA. you will live in a nice house and have 2 new cars. and your children will never be needing anything because you can take care of them with this salary. And if your wife works that would put you guys over $100,00.Hope this helps :)
actually thats starting amount. look at your free time.. truck drivers never get new stuff for free, they are always on the road. as a software developer you get more pay and more leisure time the longer you do the job. If you are a born thinker then Software engineer is a fun job that you enjoy with friends and a constant environment.
My definition of a born thinker is some one who has always had an interest in how things work. They like to try to solve math problems or "tinker" with something until they figure out how it works. Or someone who enjoys a mental challenge. These are all great characteristics of a software engineer.

If my math skills are not quite that advanced is it still possible to learn how to program or eventually learn to become a good programmer?

80,000 or 90,000.
Garbage Truck Driver average salary is 55,000 yearly (up to 80,000)
so all these years you spend to learn and to become a developer and finally you can get just that?!

What do you mean "born thinker"? I am one of those thinkers.
