you look sooo beautiful in this video and i LOVED the flower in your hair!

  • Hi Amy,

I love watching your tutorials and think you have a fabulous sense of style !!!

  • What do you think of mineral make up? I've never tried it but so many brands are carrying their own version now. Is mineral make up better for certain skin types?

  • I'm actually going to talk about it in the next issue of my online magazine on my website. Check out the website on 24th.

I've been trialling mineral makeup (as in foundation) the last couple of months. I get heaps of questions about it, so I thought it was about time I wrote about it!

  • you are beautiful inside & out

  • And you are a sweetheart!!!! Thank you very much for your kind words.

  • whats the best way to take care of your skin?

  • As long as you cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise, no matter what your skin type! I also do pore treatments- whether it be facials or just using pore wipes.

  • hi there.. i love ur videos... such an inspiration to me.. however im from singapore and yes its reali kinda humid here.. *smiles*

  • I love your looks, it's so cute !

  • you are so pretty, and all this information is DEFINETELY going to usee!

    love the oz accent :D

  • Let me add I'd love to see a very fair red haired model, like me. Especially dramatic evening makeup. Too often I'm told just to used browns and light colors, but I just look washed out. Thanks and I love your videos!

  • No problem. I love fair red heads!

  • Hi Amy, I sent you an email about 3 weeks ago on this tutorial here. I was wondering if you got it. Please get back to me.

    Thank you

  • My email back log is about 1000 emails combined at this stage!!! I'll search through the emails and try and answer it shortly!

  • You seem like a wonderful, kindhearted, and patient person; you are beautiful both inside and out! Just wanted to leave a comment to show my appreciation :-)

    Have a good day, Amy!

  • Thank you so much for such a beautiful comment. You know, I am just going through and reading all the comments, and sometimes it's disheartening because you get the odd really really cruel comment. It's so nice to hear that you enjoy the videos.

  • thanks for this video.

i always watch your videos for the tutorials...BUT a lot for the music. im in love w/ 40s jazz muusic.

  • i wish i lived close, i am african american and i love your video's can't wait for you to find a darker model, i need some new tips/help picking out colors that suit me. :-)

  • I just wanted to share a product i use for my eyeliner. I use Maybelline waterproof liquid eyeliner. And i love it. it has a sponge applicator so its really easy to handle! plus the cost is under $10! just thought ill throw that out there :)

  • What kind of alcohol spray do you use on the brushes?

  • It's from Napoleon Perdis. I think it's something like 98% alcohol with lavender mixed into it. You could probably make your own!

  • Amy I love all your videos! I tell everyone about your tips and I live by them! And I can't wait to see the tutorial on how you do your hair.

  • My name is amy too, and i am proud of that thing, a very good make up girl name is amy too ;))

  • Thanks so much for your videos! You are absolutely stunning!

  • Hello Amy!

    I absolutely adore you videos!

Could you post more hair tutorials as well?

    Thank you for your tutorials

and you are a fabulous artist!

    I adore the vintage era~

  • I'm a Teen who has no idea what to do with makeup! I'm light skinned and it's really hard for me to find "the good stuff". Whenever I buy makeup, it either looks really weird on me or it rubs off easily! (I also have a low budget!) Do you have any recommendations for cheap makeup that doesn't look so cheesy and thats good quality!? Thanks! PS: Your such a pretty girl! :v)

  • The person who knows cheap makeup brands really well is this guy on youtube "alexreedthompson". Look him up! I always look at his stuff and think it looks like he's used Mac, and it's something cheap! He's the man.

  • hey amy... do you apply your eyeliner on after or before you put on your fake eyelashes?

  • Most of the times, after. It's a great way for covering over any dried glue.

  • Thank you for being so nice and sweet! :) I think someone as beautiful as you could be really arrogant and full of herself (as many talented and beautiful people are), but youre not like that at all and I think that makes you even more beautiful! Thanks for your vids, they are really helpful. (and sorry for my bad english :b)

  • whoa you have a pretty oriental face and a british accent i think. pretty hard to find someone like that. very awsome. props

  • Hhaha... Australian accent! I'm half Indonesian, half German.

    Thank you very much.

  • You are doing free commercial, the companies of the products should pay you back,,,

  • omg , your hair is sooooooo pretty, and I cant believe you say its normally super wavy, and thick and frizzy.. thats like my hair.. hahah but my hair does not look AS pretty as yours..

    but yeah..

sooo what hair products do you use?

  • I use this Tigi stuff.... pink bottle, green top!

  • also, what false eyelashes do you use?

do you use the glue-on or self-adhesive... and what's the difference lol?

  • I use a huge range of false eyelashes, different brands. I use Mac to drugstore brands or lashes you pick up at kmart! I don't ever use self adhesive (tacky or sticky adhesive already on them. Just press them on) ones based on advice my mum gave me about how they used to wear them in the 70s and they'd always come unstuck at the inner or outer corners of the eye by the end of the day. I prefer to use lash glue (like Duo's lash adhesive or Ardell's Lash Grip).

  • Thanks, I'm just a big fan of the full lashes (not necessarily the length) so I was just wondering what kind to get when I go to experiment with false eyelashes =]!

  • Do you prefer liquid eyeliner or pencil eyeliner (or that one with the twist thing ... almay makes it)?

  • Liquid eyeliner on my upper eye when I want to look like I'm wearing makeup, pencil eyeliner when I want a softer more natural look (I love Stila's Kajal liners!). I use the twist crayon type eyeliners too, but I'm now replacing those with the Stila ones! Also I only use pencil eyeliner on my lower eye.

  • can you please do a mod twiggy-inspired look?i know that you've done the halloween one, but i'd really like to see more of her every day mod look. im surprised you havent yet, as it seems like one you would be good at. thanks!

  • I have done a 60s softer mod vid, called "Sixties makeup for the naughties girl". About a week ago I also filmed a stronger 60s mod vid, which is somewhere between the first 60s vid, and the twiggy halloween makeup vid. That will be uploaded on the 27th of Feb.

  • ok so where do you ..."brodcast" from?

and im "teen" and i use the 50's pinup makeup everyday. its amazing

  • love all your makeups!! thanks for all the info an your time.

what nail polish do you wear on this video????

  • It's just a random nailpolish I bought at Sportsgirl, a clothes store here in Australia!

  • Your Gorgeous.

Your like fantasy beautiful, for every girl.

    lol :]

  • can yoo please create a video with a emo prom style makeup because i have my prom comming up in june xxx thank you

  • you're so, so, so pretty! i love it :)

  • Is the Shiseido liner in Soft Black, because the swatch on Sephora looks quite light and the line you drew on your hand is nice and dark.

    Thank you!

    Your beautiful! :)

  • No, mine is black. In Australia we can still get black. When I made this video I didn't realise they'd stopped selling it in the states. The soft black isn't that bad, it's a slightly duller version of the black. If you want something like this in black, try Dior. They have the same pen type ink liner.

  • I'm in the UK and I've been searching high and low for the shiseido liner, or a website to buy it from. All I can find so far is a very un pen-like liner (it's more like a bottle) that costs about £17, but not anything like yours. Any pointers?

  • Try Dior. They have a pen liquid liner in black like this.

  • U r sooo pretti!!!

    Loadsa luv x

  • do you have the website as to where your makeup brushes came from?

  • napoleoncosmetics dot com. Mine are old now, he has new brushes. All of his are good.

  • your so beautiful!!! xxxxx

  • You're wonderful!

Your videos are my new favorites :)

  • i have a question, i just bought a 1 1/2 inch curl iron. but it won't curl all of my hair, just the bottom part. is that what 1 1/2 inch curl iron do or am i just doing it wrong?

    i love all your videos!

  • Searching for a ruler... we're metric here!...

It should work. It may have more to do with styling products and your type of of hair that will determine if it will hold the shape. Your might be heavy and the hair hangs, and hence curls drop out from the top of the head. Or alternatively, your hair might be fine, and not hold a curl easily.

  • Thank You soooo much, you are a savior to girls everywhere. I always felt like the girl who never really knew how to apply her own makeup, never felt glamorous. Now I look fantastic and it is all thanks to you. MUCH LOVE from Las Vegas!!!

  • Have you ever used the brown Shiseido Fine Eyeliner? I have dyed blonde hair so I thought it was suit better. If I was to buy two would you recommend the black or the soft black for more dramatic looks?

  • I haven't used the brown Shiseido liner. You definitely could go for it, if you wanted a softer option. I don't mind blonde girls using dark eyeliner (see my videos where Megan is the model). It depends on how understated you would like your makeup to be.

  • About the Shiseido Liner... Is the tip washable? I like the cartridge idea but I was curious about the tip due to hygiene reasons. I wouldn't want to keep the tip if you use the same unwashed tip for as long as you have the pen.

  • I use my alcohol spray to clean the tip. I am very very very gentle with the liner, and keep brushing the tip between tissues till I'm satisfied!

  • you're great!

  • I've been looking for recommendations for a good foundation primer - I'll check out the MAC stuff and see what I think. Who doesn't love MAC anyway?

  • Also try Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer. It's really good too. It has an amazing texture, but in terms of end result, I think it's similar to Mac's.

  • U are relly cute ^_^ love ure makeup!

  • i absolutely adore you. <3!!

lol and i love your accent.

  • french music... i love christophe mae :D pretty good stuff ;)

  • i bought the shiseido eye liner in black today, and i love it!thanks for sharing! i live in canada and it was 35$ plus like 5$ for tax, so it was 40$ but it is soo well worth it!! once again, thanks!

  • Hello again :) I was just browsing around on YouTube and I came across Christina Aguilera's videoclip called: "Save me from myself". I love, love, LOVE her make up there! It's so nice and subtile (You have a clear view at 02:19). Could you do a tutorial on this look?

  • I know! I've been addicted to the song, and faved it so I could do the makeup look!!!! I will do it soon.

  • Thank you so much!!! My hero!!! <3 *giggles*

  • I was wondering.. do you ever clean the brush of the Shiseido liquid liner? I got it for christmas, saw it in your videos and it works absolutely fantastic! It's pricey, but worth it! Also, the Shiseido Liquid Liner was renamed. It's "Shiseido Fine Eyeliner" nowadays. I asked about it in the store where I bought it (Mom paid, otherwise it wouldn't be a present) and even asked about the name. They told me they changed it so there :)

  • Actually, I think it's always been Shiseido Fine Eyeliner.... sorry, I keep forgetting to name it as that.

Yes, I do clean it from time to time, especially if I use it on a client. I take my alcohol spray and spritz a tissue, then wipe the tip several times.

  • I might start doing that from now on, although I just use it on myself so I won't do it very often. I'm just afraid to wipe off too much eyeliner off the brush, it's kinda pricey so that would be a waste.

I'll search town for some alcohol spray.

Oh yeah! I emailed you the other day with my photo and you said that pinks and pastels would go for me and I responded that I'm not into pinks. I decided to give it a try anyways and it actually does look better than expected! Thanks for the tips!

  • I hope you can post some looks for latinas like me, because there are looks in magazines for african american girls, and they think we can use that but our skins are diferent so.. I hope you can post looks for us. thanks so much. Btw..I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!:D

  • I understand. I have a south american friend who I think will model for me. I'll definitely do a video for latina girls.

  • I posted this comment yesterday and you already replay.. THANKS!!!!!

  • love it love it love it!!!!!

  • OMG. what great video! this gives so much..

i learned allot.. thx allot.. keep up the good work!! KISS

  • What is the alcohol spray you use for your brushes? Btw I love your videos, i cant wait to try some of them out ;)

  • It's just alcohol (something like 98% alcohol) and scented with lavender. It's from Napoleon Perdis.

  • hey ummm how about a valentines day look...?

thanks u do wonderful tutorials!!!!! i especially like the one thats about the 40's like what christina aguilera wears.

    thanks again!!!!

  • Yep, we just filmed a Valentine's day look, and I am in the process of editing it!

  • you are absolutely beautiful!

thank you so much for the tips, i especially love your breakfast at tiffanys look video.

id love to know if you have any tips on the best shape to pluck your eyebrows and how to go about it because mine are the absolute bane of my life at the moment!

  • I will definitely do a video talking about eyebrows. My sister has offered to be the model for that!

  • Thank you for the wonderful tutorials!!!

Especially the Vintage and Maire Antoinette ones, they're VERY helpful! i hope to see more!!! =D

  • you rock :)

  • Thank you so much for the advice, I just got the Shiseido liquid liner and will never go back! I was using the MAC pods, they work well but you dont get as clean and dark line as the Shiseido. Thanks.

PS-By the way what brand lashes do you sugest?

  • I use a whole assortment of false eyelashes. Some of my fave brands are Manicare (drug store brand and cheap!), Mac (for more unusual lashes) and Inuovi (great for spidery lashes and half lashes).

  • Looking forward to your upcoming videos! We miss you. =) I was wondering if you could suggest any white eyeliners? Preferably pencils?

  • My white pencil is from Napoleon Perdis, and I like it. Or I quite like Mac pencils. And Stila, but I don't know if Stila has white liners though. I should look into that.

  • thank you for answering the quetions

  • ur so pretty

  • I love your nail polish here! What brand is it?

  • It's from Sportsgirl... a clothes shop here in Australia. It is cute!

  • False eyelashes!!! If I could find a mascara that gave me fullness like that, I'd take it straight to a preist and marry it!

    Thank you!

My makeup in this is very similar to the "Natural and Glamorous Prom Formal Makuep" video. Except I don't know if I wore the Melon pigment on my crease area. Maybe I used a warm brown eyeshadow.

  • Amy .. I'm your biggest fan!! please upload more tutorial videos!!!! Thanks to you I am a pro in putting fake eyelashes! Greetings from Los Angeles,CA.

  • I have a question "How do I stop my foundation from sliding off throughout the day?" Did you said Mac primer? Can you tell me what's the exact name. It's 1 primer to everyone or haveto match my skintone? How do I use that? I have no idea. I have that problem sometimes, I live in a hot place and my foundation just slides off even if my face is not with oil. I would like to try that primer. Do I apply it before the foundation? after? When should I do apply it? I am so lost! Thank you!

  • I show how I use it in my "Foundation Application" video. It's Mac Prep and Prime Skin Base Visage. It's more like a cream, and it's for everyone. I apply it after moisturiser and before foundation.

  • oh! I'm gonna buy that haha Thank you!

  • Wait, did you say the liquid eyeliner you bought was $17 or $70?

Sorry, you're British accent had me thrown off, and I couldn't make out what you were saying.

    :]

I love your tutorials, by the way!

    <3

  • Hahahha... Australian accent! It is about $70 here... and $27 in the states! Something to do with the australian dollar and our taxes or something.

  • Oops, my bad!

    It's a pretty accent, anyway.

    :]

    And thanks for the clarification!

I think I'm going to go and buy myself some, now.

    <3

  • You always use such amaaazing music, and I think that you are as flawlessly gorgeous as anyone could ever be!!!

    :D :D :D

You are a true inspiration :)

  • are you gonna put up more makeup tutorials soon?

  • Yes! Just a bit bogged down with work at the moment (no break for me over Christmas!)

  • should u wash your lashes?

  • what brand of liquid liner do you use?

  • Shiseido. I talk about it in this video. I think it's the second question I answer.

  • Have you been to Singapore?

  • Hi, you are wonderful and unique! I'm hispanic and was wondering if you could at some point do a tutorial on pretty makeup for latinas as well. Thanks!

  • I've got a mexican friend whose going to model for me soon!

  • Amy, your videos are great and you are such a gorgeous girl! Your videos are the reason why I got into makeup in the first place! For Christmas I got a lot of things that you mentioned in your 'what every girl should have in their makeup bag' like the shiseido inkliner, Napoleon #37 loose dust, etc..

I just wanted to let you know that your videos have helped me soo much! I might send you an pic soon on the smokey eyes I gave myself and my sister. Once again, thank youuu!

  • Oh cool! Please do!

  • Omg do u live in Sydney too?! Me too =]

    lol

You and ur friends r so pretty hehe

  • My Bad! Shoulda finished listining to the video first:) Sorry

  • Who is the first song? I really like it.

    Tabatha

  • Rum and Coca Cola- by Arielle Dombasle

  • WOW you know a lot about makeup, thank you for all you tips, they have really helped me!! I'll be awaiting for the 'teen makeup'!

  • You are so professional! Your fabulous and I just think you're the shit, dude. You should get paid for these videos

  • hey i love ur videos! i subscribe :D.

thanx so much 4 this video. i have learned a lot from ur makeup tips and looks in ur videos, especially this one! i am no longer afraid 2 try false eye lashes! lol

  • your so clever with computers! and pretty tthanks. XXX

  • :):) haha i can be your asian model. haha nah i don't reckon, i don't have a model face. but you can do like two things at once. make-up for teens (aka moi) and makeup for asians :):) i live in aus too ^^

    ♥

  • Where abouts are you? Are you in Sydney?

  • yes i am in sydney. north side of syd. hornsby? know where it is?

  • Yep. Email me some pics!

  • Thank you so much Amy for all you've done so far! The effort & sincerety you've put in is amazing! This sounds crazy but I almost wish you had your own tv show where I can look forward to one make up episode per week (lol, yes I enjoy your vids that much! :P :P) Keep up the lovely work & most importantly, keep having fun with it!

  • AHHHH!!! They've discontinued Shiseido fine eyeliner! I was so looking forward to buying it, and now I don't know what to do... Do you know of any other similar products? I know I could find it on ebay, but I'm not sure about the refils... Well, anyway, great videos!

  • Ok, so the crazy thing is I can still get the proper black liner here in Australia. They knew nothing about the soft black option at the department store I went to! I am going to find a good replacement liner for everyone though.

  • Covergirl has a liquid liner kind've like Shiseido,...

  • thanks Amy !!

  • Oh one more question Amy... i'm in sydney... and you said mecca cosmetic sells stila products? where is exactly mecca cosmetic in city or suburb?

  • I know of Mecca cosmetics in Bondi Junction shopping centre, and in the city in David Jones next to Mac. You can get Stila there.

Also in the city, in the arcade under Sydney Tower, in between Angus and Coote (I think that's the jewellery store there) and Chic collections (the nice formal dress shop), there's a stand that sells discount makeup. They have a whole bunch of Stila stuff there too.

  • hi Amy, I am currently using Mac Prep and prime to make my make up last longer, but it seems that it will get a bit oily in the afternoon. do you think it's because my skin type or because the amount i applied? what's the right amount? (i used 1 pump only)

have you ever used Napoleon autopilot primer? if yes what do you think about the product? which one do you prefer? Mac or napoleon primer or maybe body shop matte finish as you mentioned in this video?

    thank you :)

  • I use 2 pumps of the prep and prime. I don't have a problem with it getting oily, so maybe it's not the primer for you. I haven't yet bought the Nap autopilot primer, but I was playing with it instore yesterday. I think they're beautiful. I am going to try it next.

  • thanks for the video, but how often do you clean your brushes?

  • I shampoo and condition roughly once a week. It depends on how often I've used them that week. For instance, I haven't worn makeup for about a week, except a bit of mascara and cream blush. So I won't probably wash my brushes till next week.

  • hi amy!i just watched your video now and i think that you're really good when it comes to make up.i have only one question,i have acne scars on my face, its really a problem on me and i need to cover them up perfectly and naturally with foundation or concealer, but how can i do that?can you please teach me how to cover it?thank you

  • I don't know if you've checked out my foundaiton application video, but this technique I use on everyone, and it covers up everything!!!

I know about scarring, I don't have acne scars, but I am prone to scarring. Something abnormal with the overproduction of melatonin or something. So I am very conscious of covering scars.

  • I wrote it earlier today but thanks for these tutorials. I'm an oriental woman (adopted from Thailand) but not many make-up artists or cosmetics clerks here are able to answer my questions or even find me the right shade of foundation (still haven't found one) or help me with my lash problems. You're very helpful.

  • I really suggest mac foundation for asians. I used to have the same problem. Being eurasian, my skin is a mix between my german mum and my dad's dark Indonesian skin. Once finding Mac, I've never turned back. They get it... they understand!
