  • i dont even master in my own language ...

  • You also speak a little Dutch? Are did i hear it wrong?:D

  • thank you , it was verry helpful ^_^

  • Makes sense. I'm a 13 year old girl. My friend and I want to move to south Korea after university. She will be a lawyer and I will be a doctor or marine biologist. Which means I would have to learn Latin too -.-'. But what phases would we need to know?

  • This is the same method I use when studying a language too! Whenever I'm talking to my friends in english, like "I went to my friend's party" If i can translate the whole sentence in spanish (for example) in my mind except the word "party",I would look for the translation of "party" right away or later and memorize it.

  • lol common sense

  • Im so glad i seen this vid! I love you!

It made me feel better...haha Because ive spent most of my life trying to learn to conversate with the lang books but they are soooo old fashioned!! I can never put it to good use...i mean unless im around old ppl :)

  • what? why?

  • hi i really want to learn korean..

do u know where i can find such softwear?

    and..what does hahm-ni-da for?

  • LOL "HELLO WHERE IS THE BATHROOM?"

  • i burst out laughing when i read your comment. jesus! hahaha!

  • Labhraíonn tú Gaeilge?? Is tusa an céad duine eachtrach gur chonaic ina bhfuil in ann an teanga seo a labhairt. Maith thú!

  • Plus I also don't think that you can learn languages by merely listening to a recording while you sleep. thats 2 good to be true. People learn languages because they hear it everyday and study it.

  • It depends on that specifc person. not everyone is the same. though i do agree with you.

  • Memorizing popular words is helpful in a sense that you will get a general idea of the topic of the conversation..but if you really want to be fluent in any language and be able to communicate as well, you MUST study the basics like the alphabet to construct words and sentences (like we do in kindergarden) and practicing it everyday with a partner. And I'm not an expert but I think that having a dialogue in lessons are useful because it helps you learn how to respond in actual setting..

  • @jay2004a Ok.. we did a whole server upgrade to koreanovernight! Thanks and check back!

  • you can be a korean/english teacher in Korea. Try that, or go to the military.

  • I think this guy is on to something. Grammar doesn't directly help your conversation skills, learning only main words not crazy specific words, not going thru dramas and becoming flexible. but I'm not sure if night time listening will help either.

  • I think you're full of it. I speak 3 languages fluently and am learning a 4th. You do NOT learn by playing audio while you sleep! I actually tried playing free tapes from library for a few months; didn't help one bit. Studying grammar and sentence structure is crucial if you want to be actually fluent.

  • You're right on that regard. There are several psychological studies that provide evidence that you do not learn in your sleep. Theoretically, that is the time when your brain reinforces all the memories and information from the day (thus why everyone says sleep is a good way to prepare for a test).

  • @knightofthecross what studies would that be? im sure you can supply one reference out of the "several" =P

  • One study (arguably the first) was conducted by Emmons and Simon, 1956 if I remember correctly. What was concluded (from a small sample of words, mind you) was that subjects didn't recall words during sleep unless there was alpha brain activity, which is an indication that the brain is about to awake. Subjects all information presented before the onset of alpha activity was not recalled, aka sleep-learning is a scam at best and is widely discredited in the scientific community.

  • i agree. i think i've heard the same thing.

  • i study psychology, and we learned the same thing. you're right about that.

  • Holy shit i tried it and it worked....

not really i haven't tried it but i don't think it will work....

  • Yeah, but not fully. I'm italian, Mexican and Irish. I only speak 3 languages and Learnig others. I love koean since I live with korean people and tats how I learn what I know.

  • I'm sorry about that. Actually, the redundant use of alphabet made it seem like I was saying that the Chinese have an alphabet, which they don't.

  • yeah they do. What kind of chinese are you learning? even if they replaced it with pinyin, it is the english pronunciation equivalent of the original chinese alphabet. "alphabet" is just the collection of sounds that each language uses!

  • Actually that is a bit off. Chinese writing is actually a logographic and not alphabetic. You're right in the sense that characters represent sounds, but Chinese characters have a meaning with each character. Alphabetic characters, such as the letter "B" is simply a written notation for that specific sound. So, linguistically speaking, it does not have an alphabet.

  • Okay, I'll agree with that.

  • so basically you invented a system that is based on a technique that was taught to you by other people? i'm just wondering.

  • Yes, Chinese has over 1000 characters. And the problem with this system is that it is practically impossible to learn in your sleep. Psychological research consistently shows this.

  • The Korean alphabet is easier than Chinese and Japanese thanks to the alphabet. The only difficulty I seem to have is that the sounds are similar to that of Japanese and I tend to find myself mixing languages.

  • the chinese doesn't even have an alphabet, they have characters

  • learning korean is really challenging!!! dammit!

  • learning korean is freakin hard!

i dont understand their writings and they speak hella fast :(

  • Great video. You have got an interesting system of learning new languages. How can you make your langauge learning flexible especially in the beginning? Can it work? Can you really learn the langauge in a " passive way" ? I always thouhgt along the lines : " No pain no gain"

  • Grazie mille!! e anche'io parlo altre lingue...I really want to learn korean and I know how to read a bit and write somewhat aswell, I just need a teacher

  • Jobal - I really wants to learn korean hope all the asian language beacause i want to travel the asia continent

  • With your help I will be able to make my dreams into reality!!!!

Thanks so much for your time!!

  • thanks!

  • This was pretty good ^^ I want to learn the korean language because I'm most likely going to live their after school. I have always thought in my frenchclass (don't have that anymore) that we learn in such a weird way, like those senténces you said. So now I just have to practice!

  • I agree. I've got a couple of thousand under my belt and frankly, the only way to gain a fluency in a language is to immerse in it. I'm currently studying in Yonsei University so I have to speak Korean every day. Frankly, my Korean didn't reach semi-fluency until I had a KOrean girlfriend either, as I had to speak the language every day. At the end of the day, it's going to be hard work, but totally worth it.

To gain full fluency, you have to study EVERY word.

  • hey, I want to study at Yonsei next year, is the school good? ^^

  • Yeah, the school is really good, especially if you're a beginner. You get alot of conversation practise and it really helps get a solid grasp on Korean. There's 2 courses, a 6 level and an 8 level. They get you to the same fluency, but the 8 level gives more time for conversational practise, which is what I'm on at the moment. I'm currently in level 4 and it's awesome. There's a lot of American Koreans etc here. I'd recommend getting alot of Korean friends too. I think you'll love it!

  • thanks so much for answering =D Is it really hard to get in? Gosh, I want this so much, hehe.

  • Nope, it's not at all hard to get in, because they start off at the very beginning. There are courses for people who can't speak any Korean and courses for those who are almost fluent. You should look into it :)

  • where is yonsei located in?

  • I have 2 questions ^^ Do you have to start off with learning the Korean alphabet first? That's what I heard. Also, How long does it take to learn fluent Korean (like you constantly review and go over it)?

  • Does this method work if english is not your native language ? I mean i can speak english almost fluently but i guess it's different from french as i don't have to make any effort to understand my native language...

  • that was beautiful :3 hehe

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kamsahamnida!!!

  • you are a korean-american, right? because you have an american accent. anyway, it sounds like you are good with languages. i am trying to learn korean.

  • a very smart way to learn languages

  • u made me remember my social science teacher in year 6...u both look similar so is ur boring lecture..lol

  • me too.

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaah that is so true about keeping it simple. (the kiss method) i just finished a term of learning korean in nite classes and have learned nothing much accept kamsahamnida (slight exaggeration lol - i have also learned nun saram and it never snows where i am). I was so disgusted with the teacher that i didn't fill in the assessment sheet at the end. haha! gonna go visit your site. koh-mahp-soom-nida! :)

  • its easy... go for tutoring! hahaha!

  • you are so good thank you. You make sooo much sense....I want to learn korean soo bad..

  • That really is a good way to go about learning language.

  • i really want to learn korean language anybody can teach me!!!

  • But isnt it also possible that somehow, that word will be IMPLANTED in your memory, and will just lie there, until you can actually REMEMBER it?

  • Technically, everything you hear, see, or have done is implanted in your memory. The trouble is, the human brain as we use it presently cannot retrieve that information. You were right, it lays there until we can remember it. We just can't retrieve it. Technically, we'll know the word. But we won't be able to say it to anyone, because we can't bring it back.

  • anyone?? can teach me how to speak Korean???????

  • so its too hard to learn korean....

  • ohh im soo gonna check out that site ive been trying to learn Korean for about 7 months now and i can't even form a sentence!!

  • Love your english lol.

  • moron

  • ....the most wanted to learn lanuage are korean. =P why?

  • I agree totally with the point he makes about learning the most common words. This is called "lexical frequency" and you can buy lexical frequency dictionaries for some languages. Good tip.

  • the only things that i have to say against what he is saying is that you have to learn the structure. words are important but if you cant put them together properly then you really arnt speaking the language. what are you going to do with future tense, or past tense? thats all im saying

  • I agree that there are faster ways of learning a language but overnight? that's just preposterous. I'm not even going to comment on the subliminal part, other than that you're an awesome speaker so much so I visited the website despite prior suspicion but that's about it. Peace out

  • Wow, you're quite a charismatic speaker. I was listening intently(which i usually don't)& gobbling up every word you said, not only that, I was getting all fired up about learning Korean. That's seriously cool. Do post more videos. Cao

  • I really want to learn korean, this has given me some simple insight into. Thank you and hey! Good to know you speak of gaelic/Irish. Wow I didn't know many people were interested in my language that's great:D

  • 아마 좋느는데다네가

  • The best think to learn korean or 한구고 is to learn the writing first, the Hangul or 한굴, 한굴 is very easy, just sit one whole day, get a audio file and associate with the caracter; I have learn 한굴4 years ago and I still remember it, it much easier than Japanese Kana, and as Wan said it to learn the language is good to play the dialoges, words and songs while you sleep, believe me it is very good, I had this experiencie with the Japanese

  • it is 한국어, and what you're saying is "hangool", but in reality, its more of "hangeul".

  • hangyl.

  • Thanks so much for this video. Very informative, thanks for the link address, too.keep up the good work!

  • boring...

why don't you make videos teaching korean language?

    this is so boring...

  • i agree!

but i think the method is effective

  • I thought of how young peeople could learn a language. Imagine they are no pupils but teachers. Korean children the English to learn Korean. By teaching them Korean they have to learn English (n the same time) Put registrations of siple things like buying a bread at a Korean bakery on a videoblog with the kids as actors and teachers. Big fun and theyll learn english for sure. They upgrade emmidiately from pupil to teacher and that gives motivation and self convidence. Good luck!

  • Hey man, good idea to explain something about your language learning. Why Dutch by the way?
