Well...having listened to the Far version many times now, I actually have grown to like it. The very first time I heard the album version I was completely turned off when the additional instruments kicked in, but something happened, and now I think the Far version has a definite charm, and is becoming as catchy to me as the original live one. I say there's room for both!

I'll just add that it's almost always difficult to get used to a "new" version of a song when you've heard the original for so long -- years even, in this case. For example, I remember feeling the same way about the "newer' live version of Dance Anthem of the 80s with the faster tempo (which is what the album version most closely resembles -- and it rocks too!)

you're right... the additional production catches you off guard, but I think it's done correctly in order to preserve Regina's quirkiness and charm. If you really think about it, all her songs are "actually" just piano/vocal, as she goes into recording with the songs written this way. If she were to release all her demos, they'd sound amazing because they are written as piano/vocal. I wonder what they'll do to Baby Jesus if it ever gets the studio treatment.

Search folding chair on youtube and check out the third video result by "nightrocker". At the end Regina uses the word frothier.

There's also a couple of live versions available as MP3s on RespektOnline where she uses "frothier". Apparently she has only used the word in live performances.

I agree as well. I always loved the original for its "vintage" sound, for the lack of a much better description. There's too much poppy overproduction in the Far version.

Can't you just appreciate both versions for what they bring to the song? I love the "far" ending, when she reprises the melody from the earlier "oo" choruses to the word "eyes".

Seriously people, change is inevitable, and Regina is going to be the same Regina live as she always was, regardless of the production on her new album.
