i really like this, I love warren haynes and Robert Johnson and the cool thing about this version is that it's completely Mule... as it should be. Not trying to sound like any but himself.
Any real musician knows no two songs sound the same, whether it be the the same song, or the same musician. Music is bigger than any criticism that ever tries to define, or confine it. Keep listening...
@topgearstigguy If you were expecting to hear an exact replica of the Robert Johnson original (a classic piece of American blues by one of the masters) you came to the wrong place. Warren Haynes and Govt Mule are known for putting their own spin on many classic blues numbers and this was no exception. It's almost 2 different songs really and I think you can like one or the other (or both) without prejudice. Ruined? I think not...
@topgearstigguy I have to kinda agree with you on that .. it's a nice funky song they're playing, very catchy, great band but it's nothing at all like the original R. Johnson tune... bit of a shame. I was looking for something more traditional here.
@mark0tc Warren uses a modified Soldano SLO100 and a custom made Caesar Diaz head, something like 140 watts on it. on rare occasions a PRS Dallas 2 prototype. His pedals are a little more complex, he uses a Custom Audio Electronics switcher, emma discombobulator, boss OC2, rotosphere, dunlop wah, ernie ball volume pedal, and a few more effects, a delay of some kind and i think one other thing. search on here for a run through of his gear with farmer
nuthin to decide when mule 1st formed they were a true power trio. Until woody passed they played kick ass rock n roll. wasnt till allen woody passed that they changed their style and warren added a keyboard .that they didnt need,They played hard and that why .their covers are better than originals WARREN IS GOD
Gov`t...MULT??? LOOOL....

For their next number, they do Johnson's, "Me & The Devil", with the tune from "Turkey In The Straw".

@brandonrosas
Actually, It's a B Dorian scale if you wanna get technical. But yeah, of course you could just stick to the blues scale for the most part too...
