be honest, if metallica didnt write this originally, people everywhere would love this just as much as they do with metallica, for so those who don't know she was originally a metal head and her early work shows definite signs of this influence, just cause she went in a different direction with her own music does not mean sh*t

Even though the song was written by James Hetfield (principally) it still means a lot of things to millions, inluding Shakira. Statistically, at least a couple of hundred in the audience should have a very special connection with the song, in their own way, so why couldn't Shakira cover it and give her fans a great experience? I think Shakira and her band had a good take on it and even though I'm a metalhead primarily I still respect good musicians, like Shakira + band, regardless of genre!
