It has nothing to do with "culture" - if it did then most Japanese people would be aware of the slaughter and would be happy to eat dolphin - most are not, thats why the Japanese government have to subsidise the fishermen so heavily. I keep asking about the claims of mercury poisoning by dolphins in Japanese waters and whales in the antarctic but so far no one can point to any research in proof of this.

The fishermen terrify the dolphins by banging metal stick, making the dolphins flee for their lives into nets. I know that battery farming happens to cows etc in other countries but people know about it and lots of people are fighting against it. Of course, we don't kill all of them, the young ones we sell to circuses and the like where they can entertain thousands. In fact, my village is the biggest exporter of Japanese whale fisherman anywhere in the world. Have you ever tried teriyaki Japanese fisherman? Mmm. Mmm. Delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

It has nothing to do with "culture" - if it did then most Japanese people would be aware of the slaughter and would be happy to eat dolphin - most are not, thats why the Japanese government have to subsidise the fishermen so heavily. Most Japanese people are horrified by this hunt, it is only a very very small minority who approve.

The cove insulted Japanese for money. For profit the cove denied the culture in Japan. For business the cove destroyed the tradition in Japan. This is the conflict of interest between the money and the cultural tradition.

If you have ever seen 'The Cove' you will know that the fishermen who do this try their harest to make sure no one sees what is happening. If they didn't think they were doing anything wrong why would they try and hide it. If it's a tradition how come hardly anyone in Japan knows about what happens in Taiji

I keep asking about the claims of mercury poisoning by dolphins in Japanese waters and whales in the antarctic but so far no one can point to any research in proof of this.
I don't think they have any proof of it for the areas I've questioned. Still waiting and wondering if that will ever show up.

The fishermen terrify the dolphins by banging metal stick, making the dolphins flee for their lives into nets. I know that battery farming happens to cows etc in other countries but people know about it and lots of people are fighting against it. The dolphin slaughter is a hidden cruelty that the majority of the Japanese community are unaware of.

In my little village that I'm originally from, we hunt Japanese whale fisherman. It's just part of our culture. They're delicious. Of course, we don't kill all of them, the young ones we sell to circuses and the like where they can entertain thousands. In fact, my village is the biggest exporter of Japanese whale fisherman anywhere in the world. Have you ever tried teriyaki Japanese fisherman? Mmm. Mmm. Delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I went to Taiji in 2007 to meet my wife's family and I would have never imagined in my wildest dreams that such a horrible slaughter was taking place...I am so struck by this situation, I mean, you go to this beautiful town and you see billboard's with nice remarks about dolphins and whales but now I can see it's all a masquerade from the town officials...'The Cove' has opened my eyes but at the same time....I don't know how I could help to stop this insanity.

@antulio Well right now, I can only see you as a hypocrite. Dolphins are being killed due to overpopulation there. But Japanese aquarium is actually trying to rescue as much dolphins as possible since they don't want that. But do you know how much it costs to even bring one dolphin over and to even have them live there? Australians are doing nothing. Some assault fishermen and all they did in this video was swim around. I guess dolphins are not worth the money for Australians.
