technicaly speaking you got to be conseting age to need a condom so there are no laws about the age to buy a condom but there is a age for having sex so why you would need a condom if you are younger than concenting age i do know... i do not see the need to buy a condom since it's illigal to have sex in canada some provinces is 14 some are 15 and 16.

I had to show ID to prove I was over 18 at my local walmart, when buying condoms through self check. I agree allowing education and access is hugely important...especially at home.

It was an automated prompt on the self check that required cashier verification (thus the ID check)...I thought it was very weird. The lady said it's like buying alcohol or spray paint. Condoms are not like like alcohol and certainly not like spray paint, they protect and save lives by reducing the spread of disease (which ethanol also can in some cases too). The lady carding me was apologetic because I was obviously old enough to buy anything at Walmart, but she said it was policy.

in the uk there is no legal age for purchasing condoms but most people will probably go by the 16 and over rule seeing as that is the uk age of consent for sex but if you are selling them to people younger than that you are unable to get prosecuted

if the age of consent in some state is 16 for example, the minimum age for buying condoms is 16 by default. you don't need a sign for that.

It's not as simple as that. Kids buying condoms is not the only legal activity that is in place to encourage the safety of an illegal activity, there's also the clean needles program for people who use drugs of that nature.

In this specific example the negative feedback may well not get back to them quickly enough. It's different from stopping kids from buying cigarettes and alcohol, in that case you really can prevent them doing it because the act is not possible without the product. Sex on the other hand is obviously possible without protection. And what makes you so sure about kids not doing it anyway? Just because they're seeking condoms doesn't make it a deal breaker for them to go without.

I think this goes along with the condoms question. Lubes and massage oils aren't controlled substances, like drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes. So yeah, they should, and like Dan said, if they won't, take your business elsewhere.

The laws are different in each state, 18 is just the universal safe number for all states because you are legally an adult at that age. Just because someone buys condoms doesn't mean that they're going to use them for sex. Also, it is neccessary for states to have condoms legal & accessable for everyone because part of the point/function of AOC laws is to reduce teen pregnancy/STDs because they're probably less likely to know how to or be responsible enough to use condoms & birth control.

I haven't seen any age limits for condom purchases either. But I do remember growing up in a state that enforced Blue Laws, and some areas still do. If you live in an area (usually conservative & Southern) that still enforce Blue Laws, I wouldn't be surprised to see age limits on condom purchases. And in those areas, it could just be a store policy, not an actual law.

Yes it would be better for someone to have condom. In Australia you can buy condoms at any age so it is good. They sell them everywhere and even in toilets so ppl are not shy. Just thought i would let you know how it is here. You are right as you would rather ppl get them no matter what age then them catch aids. You guys are doing a good job. :)

The packaging and inserts for condoms aren't explicit in any way, if anything the packing and inserts are educational. So, yea, i'd sell condoms to a 9 year old if he/she approached my counter (I work in a pharmacy). We as adults don't want to embarrass or harass them for buying condoms. It would be none of our business anyway.
