@Knucklehead - Damn straight, £60 is WAY too much. I remember paying @ £15-20 in the 90s. Merc ones weren't too bad but went a bit mod. You can pick up some decent Shermans in the sales occasionally now they've gone out of fashion a bit. With you on the Warrior front (Cheap Harringtons too - hada mine for 6 years now)
Hey Ska nurse, i'm not argueing with you here, but i think as a Skinhead from the UK myself, that Fred Perry is WELL Over rated.. i will tell you my humble opinion :) ... for YEARS the working class funded fred perry's success and made them what they are... BUT What have fred perry given back? apart from £60 polo shirts... how are us working class supposed to afford that? I get my clothes From Warrior Clothing! (Not the Viper website) Check them out!! Take care my friend.
true it does cost a fortune off our wallets as working class people and i guess over rated but i love to support ska and the culture that surrounds it. i go by with buying stuff at ebay coz its cheaper. i don't buy fred perries at the shop though coz its one hell of a price but thanks to your suggestion though i will be sure to check out warrior.
NYC Ska at its very best! Some times I wonder how long its gonna take for America to wake up and rock steady! Thank God for the internet! Wanna here more good music check out Unlikely Alibi produced and released on Djangos Stubborn label.
There is a pretty decent scene building in the north of france though and one thing I can really suggest is Kopenhagen. The city is sheer awesomness when it comes to music.
My brother, Nottingham has britains BEST ska scene. I HIGHLY suggest you check out "The Maze" on Mansfield road... coming out of nottingham right now is a VERY healthy Skinhead scene and the nations best Ska and Ska punk. Have a fantastic day.
@o0Knucklehead0o Cheers for the heads up dude> gonna have to see into that soon. I live just outside of Chester over Welsh border now, so Im not too far away from it really. Awesome, cos I love my ska!!

@IAINoodle I from the midlands too, shame we dont have this scene here. Smoke Like A Fish are the nearest ska band we have, and they from Wales.

I spy a camy by Checkerd Phil. Django is one of the best singers of our time. Its time the world gave respect to a great US artist!

Why don't more people make music this good?
clpness 2 years ago
because the big money is in cranking out a ton of shit, one piece after another, and marketing it aggressively with as many hooks as possible.
It's just a blessing that guys like this still keep the faith and go on playing for the pure love and joy of the craft.
