I'm privileged enough to live in a Paul R. Williams home. We are currently seeking landmark status and have undertaken restoration efforts so this lovely monument to his abilities will be admired for generations after we move on.
I'm in awe. I grew up knowing an African American architect who inspired a friend of mine to be an architect but neither ever shared with me the story of Paul Revere Williams or if they even were aware of his work. I'm so intrigued to know more. A wonderful documentary of knowledge I have watched. Thank you thank you.
@Najenn (replying to myself) the architect who I knew growing up unfortunately died after I saw this youtube video but in his obituary it is noted that he was mentored & worked with Paul R. Williams. The world is so small and fascinating. Thank you again for sharing this video of inspiration.
I first learned of him in the 80's there was an exhibit of his work and a bio in the Crenshaw-Baldwin Hills Mall. A fantastic Brother, a fantastic Human being
Very interesting document of a highly successful - black Architect. I'm glad he was able to become high in status, despite the problems he faced from his career, which was very political and disheartening. R.I.P good friend
Thankyou for this video, has truly been an inspiration. Paul Revere Williams was a true inventor and with his innovation made him a true "Starchitect"
Paul R. Williams Quote.
"Planning is thinking beforehand how something is to be made or done, and mixing imagination with the product which in a broad sense makes all of us planners. The only difference is that some people get a license to get paid for thinking and the rest of us just contribute our good thoughts to our fellow man."
Great architect...two of my most favorite architects are Mr. Williams and Raymond J. Kieffer, who along with Mr. Williams were basically the only 2 architects who designed the Southland development of La Canada Flintridge, CA, in the 1920s and 30s.
I admire his work, which has been featured several times in AD. His story is inspiring especially for those with an interest in architecture and interior design. Thanks for posting.

I love his work all over Los Angeles but sad to see The Famous and gigantic Tudor Mansion in Pasadena burned down in 2005
