For those wondering what the point is, I would venture to say it is a dramatization about Nestles true intentions. Nestle has put up a facade of being a company that has a vested interest in providing jobs for people in Maine. When they ship the water to an out of state facility are providing jobs to people outside of the state rather then in a facility within Maine. One may now say, why should Maine residents be the ones who are employed.

The point is they are draining Maine to sell to uninformed people, for $1.19, what they can get from their tap for 6/10 of a penny. The vast majority of municipal water supplies are clean and well regulated. Some lesser systems would be fine with a tap filter. If you have to filter your tap water, it is still much cheaper, in the long run, than bottled water. Those tanker trucks run every 6-7 minutes 24/7. That's a lot of water. Invest your $1.19 in water delivery infrastructure improvements.

Haulfomoney, buy all the bottled water you want. You are right. It's none of my business. Now that you are aware of some of the wider implications of doing so, you can do a wiser job of it. If the water from your tap is not potable, then you have a need. And, no, I have no problem with employers/jobs and supporting one's family. But, I would not want to be employed by the company that sells the same product for 200 times more than a competitor. When the wider public finds out, the gig is up!

do you not think every single persone in the contenent doesnt know that bottled water is incredebly over priced..if you whant to look at it like that it cost starbucks about 10cents to make a cup of coffe but they still charge like 3$ for a cup...pepsi 20$ cents a bottle..cheaper to buy a 2L than a 600ml but pepole still buy the smaller bottle...it's buisness..everybody knows how much more were charged but it doesnt change anything...it's convinient ...that's what we pay for..

Right. Capitalism comes in 2 basic parts. Income and spending. I make my own coffee. I don't drink soft drinks (I don't like them, actually). Being the good capitalist I am, I watch my spending. And my income is covered by doing the very best at my work possible and always improving. Capitalism comes in 2 other parts: Part 1: Providers of goods and services desired or needed. Part 2: Those who are aware a sucker's born every minute. Times haven't been good for part 1, the past 30 years-or-so.
