Even though I tuned my guitar to the standard level something doesn't sound right whenever I play the first 3rd string on the seventh fret during the intro riff. Is there a specific way to tune it? Or is it supposed to sound like that?
Same way I play it. For some reason the 022 at the end of the riff sounds weird. It's not my guitar cause I just tuned it with a tuner. I've been playing this song for years now and I'm only just now noticing it.
questions on tapping you have to develope your ear as you go, Page was a studio muscian before he was in a band some of the things are not always there so it is called improvization, make it yours, I love the lesson and the close up, nice teaching style I have been playing 50+ years this is an excellent lesson
Hey I have a question after the hammer on is he taping D-7 once before he taps it twice... because It looks like that's what you're doing but when i try it just with the D-7-7 it doesn't sound good. Idk... But still great lesson man Ty.
You are awesome!!!thanx 1000times for every video and Tab you uploaded and help so many Guitarists out there. You must be a great friend and Person,so i hope you'll succeed in whatever you seek!
besides...i've seen the CNN Les Paul Tribute video and enjoyed your playing Fingerstyle picking on the Paula, wearing a Ministryshirt on...LOL!!!
One of the first songs I learned when I started playing guitar. Although I didn't have it mastered. Fast forward 16 years later and I can play it easy and even play it with some of the subtle stuff that's in Jimmy Page's playing. The solo I learned but forgot it so I improvise while adding some of the "key" licks in the solo like the intro. I think it's better to improvise most solos anyway.
@75SilentWarrior Um dude, he plays something different to the tabs, and what he says on the 6th note, plus the first fret is only partially blocked out - so next time think before calling someone an idiot without legitimate justificatiom.
the way you play the intro riff seems way different.. i learned it from the guitar world magazine, well i knew the start from tabs but the magazine had the same tabs i learned from.. xD instead of going to the 5th fret of the b string, you'd just go to the 9th on the g string.. when i saw your tabs i was a little confused..
your tab seems a little off though.. at the end of the intro riff theres to A power chords played. at least thats the way a lot of tabs play it. at least thats how GW says
Hey there, I'm 14, and a great lover of Led Zeppelin and other classic rock & roll. I've just started playing guitar, with my goal to eventually form a Led Zeppelin Tribute band. Does anyone have any advice to share on what I should learn (Bearing in mind my aim to do Zep covers)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I would recomend to start with the "Whole lotta love" as it is simple but yet really cool.. also you could try at least the intro and main riff of "heartbreaker" as a start
That was a great help. Thanks a lot!! I'm a beginning guitarist starting at a later age (40). Any advice on how to get the fingers to move faster? I practice an hour a day, but other than that, any tricks or good exercises?
Not trying to start a music career but I would like to sound decent.
Just keep at it will come with time remember your teaching your hands new motor skills and being an older man then when ussually people start out it might take a bit longer to gain those motor skills. just keep at it and practice scales
try playing more each day unplug ur guitar and play while watching tv just play the same scale or pattern alot up and down the scale and build ur stamina and speed but dont get stuck to one riff
yea... start out on the first fret on the low e string. then with your 1st finger on the 1st fret(F) go 1-2-3-4 with each finger and each fret in succession. once you get to the 4th fret move to the a string. and so on. when you get to the high e string go backwards. continue up the neck moving one fret at a time.( from where yopur 1st finger was) until you get to the 12th fret. doing this will get your fingers moving and make chord changes easier. practice form first not speed.
Not exactly right, but no one's perfect... Hell I'm sure when I post a lesson video someone will always criticize... But I'm not criticizing you... You just forgot for the C (or G string 5th fret), you were supposed to bend it a little on 1:05 and 1:43... And also for the main riff... Which was done by John Paul Jones, Jimmy played exactly the same.. So on the bass it has four strings, and Jimmy played the main riff as if he had only 4 strings... he did that for JPJ.

for 1:21 it's not 2nd string 5th fret, it's supposed to be 3rd string 9th fret, but they're both the same note, but just that little part is what Jimmy Page original did, and yes, because in ALL live versions you can obviously see him do that.

Cheaper than buying an amp. Stomp on the switch to turn on. Plav with the controls to dial in your sound. A gutair shop can help you out
