  • Think you could have time for Imagine - John Lennon

  • @oisinholz

    maybe!

  • What effect do you use? And.. what is your tuning? Answer me! Thanks

  • make sure to write an annotation here on youtube before rolling into world tour

  • My God. I was just. blown away. wow <3

  • 凄い!感動!(T_T)

  • Mindblowing Zander, really, outstanding... Could I ask which tuning you use for this piece? and also what set of strings?, piccolo?. Thank you in advance, and greetings from Mexico. I'm a big fan of your music by the way...

  • @Kulenkenkep

thanks a lot for your kind words. my tuning for this piece is: B♭, E♭, C, F

all other tunings for my compositions are on my website under 'solo album'. cheers.

  • zander your work is awesome i love how you arrange songs on your instrument i have been subscribed for a really long time and dont get me wrong but i really like and appreciate this style of playing want to see you play some cool groovy stuff ....keep up the good work

  • @sonicshori

thanks for your comment and thanks for supporting my music all this time. to be honest, i feel that the groovy stuff isn't really my style. there's a ton of guys out there doing that sort of thing, plus i really enjoy the sort of music i play more - which is why I play it! however, i have been working on some percussive stuff so hopefully when i release that it'll have a cool groove!

  • Its so nice to hear and see you playing these songs. I bought your album and book and I'm slowly starting to play some of your peices! I even bought a new bass guitar and had some piccolo strings custom made (can't seem to find D'Addarios anywhere!)

  • @mattcatchpole

Thanks a lot for your support! Let me know how you get on with the book. : )

  • You are just about the greatest bass player i've ever seen. Your original work is AMAZING

  • Hey man. Your music is absolutely amazing. So what gauge do you use and do you have trouble tracking down the strings? Can't wait to get the tab book for this album.

Also how do you get that sweet reverb sound. Is it like a combo of delay/infinite sustain and some chorus. What exactly do you do?

  • When ever I need peace in my heart and soul..I turn to your gift

  • @TheIdolkiller

thank you! and thanks to everyone else as well for such nice comments!

  • 2:34

how did you do that taturututtut thing.

  • @andrewbautista23

he uses 3 fingers for it:

ring, middle, index, in that order.

he mostly uses his thumb and index for this type of playing, but sometimes you put in the middle finger as well for more notes at the same time, different strings or whatnot. he also used the ring finger to get that sixteenth note triola.

  • @andrewbautista23 TATURATUTTUT haha

  • @andrewbautista23

i use my thumb and three fingers - thumb, index, middle, ring - in that order. :)

  • one thing that amazes me about you is that im not jealous as a bass player, but instead in total admiration and pride for you, even tho i have never met or spoken to you before. absolutely beautiful bass playing, keep it up :)

  • Have you had classical guitar experience? Your sound reminds me soooo much of that....beautiful stuff indeed =)

  • Man... This shit is amazing

  • you look like matthew bellamy

  • this is probably my favorite of all your songs fuckin love it

  • @Fiv3St4Rx

thanks - got it at zon guitars.

  • i have been listening to you for a long time.. it's the first time that i post something but in all this time the words have ended.. i have no more words to express what your music makes me feel, it's just unsayable, but i think that all the people who listen to this beauty can understand what i'm saying. keep playing zander, you have THE GIFT

  • @gcfissore

thanks a lot for your very kind words! : )

  • 1 person tried to play this... I'm not even gonna try, (even though i have a Zon myself) cause this is just of another world. Absolutely spectacular... A true master of the instrument!

  • @JBLgangsta

    thanks!

  • this is incredible. you are a true inspiration.

what do you find the benefits of altered tunings to be? the only thing i could think of is better range of harmonics. im an aspiring bassist and looking to absorb as much as i can.

  • @MikeandhisBass

    thanks for your kind words!

with altered tunings, you can optimize the use of your open strings, create different chord voicings, different harmonic chords and can extend the range of the instrument. you can also alter the timbre of your instrument. good luck!

  • this music is the equivalent of a rainbow to you ears. like melting maltesers in you mouth - wonderful :-)

  • Just love it, Zander! Thanks so much for your MUSIC!

  • I'm not impressed Messi. You`re so much better playing soccer. hahaha just kidding. You're out of this world man, as in Barcelona and Argentina. XD

  • how did you learn to play like this?

    -Alex

  • @alexstypes

    thanks for your support, alex!!!

  • great

  • that buzzings at the intro are made on purpose i suppose, right?

  • sooo friggin goood.

  • u r a genius

  • AMAZING !

  • A true testament to what the bass is capable of.

  • What tuning are you using?

  • @rufio2001

    BbEbCF

  • Amazing, 0 dislikes, lets keep it that way!

One question about your tone, I get can a similar tone on my guitar through my podx3, but when I strum chords, the sound doesn't ring out as clearly as in your videos! How do you get such a clear sound?! Mind sharing some settings? : )

  • @steel8909

    thanks for your kind words!

my eq is always set to flat. i'm recording through some quality equipment, which contributes to the clear sound. i'm using an apogee duet and recording directly into my macbook.

  • Итить - колотить! Очень нравится)

  • You use gt-10? Or gt-10b?

  • @edlift

    gt-10 and fishman solo amp.

  • Genious man!!

  • simply a genious

  • you are the best, mate!

  • silly question: does the album sell good?

  • I have to ask if you don't mind Zander. What type of bass are you using, what's your setup? Strings, etc? I love your sound, I am definitely buying your cd's.

  • You have the most amazing, fluid technique I have ever witnessed! Easily up along side the Michael Manrings, Jacos and Victor Wootens of this world ;) Zander = God

  • Saw this on All Bass No Treble. AMAZING! You're one of the best solo bassists I've ever seen, beautiful work. I've never heard harmonics used so well before!

  • just bought this song on itunes mate, such a beautiful piece thank you x

  • another beautiful piece. Zander what is your live gear? amps? effects? I use a markbass and a boss gt-6b and boss rc20 loop.

  • How did you get guitar sound from bass? It sounds really beautiful!

  • That fret buzz is brilliant!

  • hellllll.

    it's about time.

  • How are you doing those high harmonics?

  • wow

  • Its really beautiful, sound good.

  • every time I see a new video posted by you i expect great things, and you always deliver. your performances leave me wanting more always! I would love to buy the album but unfortunately right now money is tight. As soon as i save enough, it's top of my list. keep up the amazing work :)

  • @Vasgull

  • wow you're amazing!

  • I just watched the usual youtube videos, then saw your video in my subscriptions, clicked play...

I was prepared for a nice video, but I never thought my room would become brighter from the beauty of your sounds. thnx for sharing.

  • @ticijev

    : )

  • No no! Thank You, Zander :)

  • Every time i listen to you play i don't want to play bass with my fat strings and end up buying another set of piccolo strings and spending weeks playing around with melodies.. your inspirational man.

  • beautiful of course...

  • If one could have sex with a bass guitar, it would look like this.

  • Zander, as always, a pleasure to the ear. Your work is remarkable.

    Kimberly

  • There is the neck tension to deal with: the lower tension is inadequate to pull the neck straight. I wouldn't want to play with the torsion bar unless I knew what I was really doing.

  • Your going to rule the world in a few years. Make sure you visit Norway. I`ll be on front row.

    Andrew

    :)

  • Thats what i call in the zone, very well played, many thanks, Sean

  • the facebook link is broken

  • @tehLeecherer

    Works fine for me.

OT: This is a beautiful song, good work man. Like always, keep on.

    Peace.

  • @tehLeecherer

    fixed it - thanks.

  • This is beautiful. Keep em coming.

Q: Apart from the Zon, are there any more affordable "piccolo bases around? You make me want to play one.

  • @Carusus1 from what i understand, you could make any bass a piccolo by changing over to piccolo strings and changing the nut to accommodate the smaller string gauges.

  • @Carusus1

thanks! yeah, you should be able to put piccolo strings on most basses. maybe just adjust the nut a little...

  • Incredible. And @koropoklover ... please get some taste

  • you sux.

  • Wonderful.....

    wat tuning did u use???

  • @adibassboy

    thanks! Bb Eb C F.

  • Beautiful, as always :)

  • Man, this is amazing! I fell in love with it inmediately! :)

  • everytime you post a video I favorite it cause you're rockin me buddy and I am FELLING the loop pedal.

  • This is a beautiful track Zander. Loved the looping part. Loved the whole track to be honest.

  • Favorite song off your album I love it!

  • So full of emotion... amazing. And I love the growl of the bottom string buzzing against the fretboard.

  • ...So Amazing

  • i LOVE this piece ! how do you do it man, how do you come up with such wonderful solo pieces on a single bass??

  • 2:35 looks freaking effortless, nice control. Nice piece.

Where can i get that bass? I've looked alot of places, seems to be only directly from Zon?

  • @KurtSandford

hey mate, thanks! i'd look into manson's guitar shop in exeter for a zon bass. i think they have a few there. also, just try giving joe zon a call and asking where he distributes to in the uk. let me know if you need any more help. cheers, dude.

  • Beautiful stuff as usual my brother! Rock-Solid technique, amazing tone, beautiful feel and emotions coming through. The imagery you use in your music is quite vivid. I always get a picture of a particular thing in my head when I listen.

Great stuff man! Thanks for sharing!

  • Love it, as usual! <33

  • It's been a while since I've seen some of your vids so maybe you've already posted something but do you play fretless at all? I imagine you being an incredible fretless player as well.

  • @slipknot95maggot

thanks! no fretless yet, but maybe in the future.

  • Man, this entire album is amazing, and you are definitely and incredible musician. I have one question, though. How do you get your harmonics to ring out so clearly and fluently?

  • @P13666

thanks a lot! i think my zon vb4 bass is such an incredible sounding instrument, so that really helps. also, just lots of practice!

  • Fantastic! How do you write your music? Just come up with small chunks of a melody and string them together?

  • @Tooltrocity

thanks! that's sometimes how i do it - it varies really!

  • great song, pure chill...what kind of reverb is that? sounds awesome

  • @Niallphillips

thanks! it's a cathedral reverb from imovie.

  • excellent
