  • excellent , watched this on t.v important so glad Ive found it again.

  • Takes me Back !!!

  • Roger's drumming makes this even better in my opinion. Sounds much more heavy :)

  • Bugaloo Dudes. Absolutely

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • A great Rock N' Roll moment

  • BOWIE<3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • Best version of All the Young Dudes, in my opinion.

  • Yea, BWFSabian, you're right MICK RONSON WAS PROBABLYTHE MOST UNDER-RATED GUITARIST OF ALL TIME ! ! ! ! ! Anybody whose ever heard him ---especially on the ZIGGY STARDUST album , knows what ABSOLUTLY FREAKIN' SMOKIN GUITAR SOUNDS LIKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT to see him LIVE is to see a TRUE GOD ON THE OL' AX.GOOD OLD 70's ROCK IS THE BEST AND NEVER,EVER DIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perfect!!

  • Thank you a million times over! I've been a tremendous fan of both David Bowie and Mott the Hoople (Queen, too, not to disrespect Freddie Mercury) since I was 12 and NEVER had a clue such a video existed. Just watching this and listening has been the high point of my week!

  • DUDE Hm hm

  • Welcome to the Club

  • MICK ROONNNSSSOOO0NNNNN,,

  • ah meus tempos de radio federal....o embrião da maldita no inicio dos anos 70

  • Demjén és David Bowie együtt !!!! zenetörténeti pillanat !!!!

  • Old hippies never die.........they just show up on You Tube 30 to 40 years later. The memories are twice as good the second time around.

  • @trangressions it was a tribute concert you twat

  • this is fantastic! What a live performance by all these great men!

  • David Bowie played the sax before anything else

  • Da ble jeg ungdom på ordentlig

  • You would not believe how many people did not really notice this group when it first came out. Yeah, it was a "hit" but for example, I lived in Waterloo, Iowa and it was not even on the top 40, hardly at all. It picked up momentum as an album, ect and was national huge, but right off, it was not wowing everyone, Although, I liked it right off, I was exposed to it through fm radio moreso than the top 40 mainstream.

  • when was this?

  • I can't believe this song is 40 years old, such a classic

  • def lep

  • All the young dudes is a classic of multiple generations...Glad this tune was played in the musical send off for freddy, the greatest rock and roll singer. RIP Freddy

  • of course

  • Realmente incrível. Yeah...

    adoro tal musica.

  • I got into Queen with their first album when it came out, and their second album. Very good. I really did lose interest in them later, but I never doubted their talent. Freddie Mercury was very talented.

I liked seeing Ian Hunter doing this song. Mott the Hoople were pretty good, and I revere them along with all the great glam bands.

  • reminds me of my first ever gig, November 1973, Mott the Hoople at the Caley Cinema, Lothian Road, Edinburgh. Little known band called Queen were support. Wonder what happened to them?

  • I really like this song, no matter who wrote it

  • A tribute for Freddie Mercury? Really? Why?

  • @TruthAxe It was a few months after his death

  • @JimmyCos And so what. Mercury was a singer in a long line of singers who have lived and died. Queen were an average band that appealed to those with less discerning ears.

  • @TruthAxe You're just too obvious, gb24chan and lrn2troll

  • @JimmyCos It's trawling. A troll lives on the same message board. Trawling happens when persons fish for fights.

And I am neither a troll nor trawling. As a fan of Mott the Hoople, I stumbled upon this video.

That said, people made a big deal about Freddy Mercury not because of his singing, but because he was a dick smoking homo who became sick with AIDS, came out of the closet and then died.

That's no reason to honor anyone.

  • @TruthAxe Are You For real? That man was an AMAZING singer. So what if he was Gay. He had a voice, most likely better than your own. He was an amazing songwriter as well. That said, Queen is no "average" band. They were very much different from the rest. There is no band that is similar to Queen. And not only that, he was one of the first major public figures to die from AIDS. The Tribute Concert was more than just Remembering Freddie, it was to raise money for AIDS awareness and treatment.

  • Mott The Hoople/Ian Hunter had the most success with tune, and what a trip seeing Bowie blowing the Alto Sax

  • was at this gig and had totally forgotten this.

  • @fifthof Freddie mercury tribute concert

  • @fifthof sorry didnt mean to send that

  • PS, I do hear george harrison, but the same can be said with Klaatu

  • Mott rocks, very Beattle & Klaatu(ish). But , all the same they rock

  • ATTENTION ASSHOLE LAWYERS KILLING OFF THESE VIDEOS

YOU ARE DESTROYING FREE ADVERTISING FOR YOUR PRODUCT

    YOU ARE IDIOTS

  • Man, you just know that despite the sadness of the occasion, Joe and Phil from Def Leppard were having the time of their lives, being such huge Bowie, Queen, and Mott the Hoople fans!

  • exelente cancion

  • A lot of tribute concerts are not very good. However, this one kicked ass. Queen and Bowie added quite a bit and really knew this tune. I really like Bowie's suit. If I were to picture the "Thin White Duke" this is him. Great post and version of the classic.

  • Anyone else hear George Harrison in this?

  • My dad has this vhs tape. Its awsome. Hope to find it on dvd soon.

  • I love Mott the Hoople

  • Joe Elliott and Phil Collen on shredding background vocals!

  • "All the young dudes, carry the news" <--- catchy line =)

  • Lou Reed "Walk on the Wild side" Bowie on sax FYI

  • @Loz522 no it isnt. It is Ronnie Ross, the guy who taught Bowie the sax when he was a boy.

  • brian may there?

  • guitar hero aerosmith :D

  • This is awesome. Mick at his best. Long live the spider with the platinum hair

  • @antoniocherry

Touche , but very sad they were doing a tribute to him not long after. He truly wa a good dude.

  • if anybody has a problem with this song send then to 514 Bear Creak St. Auburn, PA 17922

  • Brian May singing backup @ 2:41-2:42.

  • Fabulous - Mick & David? - Wow! - Saw Mott live in NYC in early 70s - with Queen as warm-up act - in the Felt Forum - NYC's Madison Square Garden's lower level, more intimate theatre - fantastic show - bass player was sporting his white gibson thunderbird - Queen was the better act by far but Mott was FANTASTIC!

  • @TheDeathEternal Now thats a gig. I saw the same gig in Glasgow around the same time. A great old venue called the Appollo. Saw all the greats there, Magic memories.

  • すげぇΣd(゚∀゚d)イカス!映像、イアン・ハンターに、サックス手のデヴィッド・ボウイ"すべての若き野郎ども"

  • I had no idea this existed.

So perfect on so many levels. Ronno blazing away, Ian in fine fettle, and BOWIE ON SAX. I saw him 7 times and NOT ONCE did he touch a sax! He's never highlighted his amazing sax work, though it's a very important part of his sound. (He also did the solo on Walk On The Wild Side by Lou Reed)

  • BOWIE is a man of many talents...AWESOME....

  • "Mott" the album have plenty of songs better than All The Young Dudes. I'm only saying they have great songs written not by David Bowie. "All the Way From Memphis", "I Wish I Was Your Mother", "Hymn for the Dudes", "Whizz Kid"

  • Thanx for sharing !! Ich widme dieses Lied allen "Led Zeppelin-Arschlöchern"!!!

Best Regards to all of u !!!

  • It is NOT Bowie playing sax at the end of Walk on the Wild Side. He's not that good, technique-wise.

  • great song!!! ''hey you there!!! , you with the glauuusez''!!!

  • bowie can do anything

  • does anybody else wonder what david says at 1:33 ?

  • mmmm te hace pensar cual de los dos versiones es la mejor...love both

    p.s. I'm a dude dad!!!

  • hoople/poople

  • Great song for a memorial for Freddie Mercury.

  • The chorus sounds like something that the Beatles would have done.

  • awesome!!

  • bowie genius

  • This song made us lose at pub quiz - because we didn't know who wrote it...

  • mick ronson,rip

  • Nothing to add. This is too cool. Think I will youtube some TRex now.

  • Bowie playing sax. The coolest thing i ever saw.

  • bowoe playing the sax. The coolest thing i have ever seen.

  • We had the the best years, and the best bands.

  • Dude, he picks up girls at a tribute concert, now that's just wrong.

  • I didn't know Bowie could play the sax.

  • @holzpusher After Terry Burns, his half-brother, introduced him to modern jazz, his enthusiasm for players like Charles Mingus and John Coltrane led his mother to give him a plastic alto saxophone in 1961; he was soon receiving lessons from a local musician.

  • @holzpusher doesn't like to talk about it

  • @holzpusher So that must be him doing same on "Young Americans?"

  • @holzpusher if you look on the liner notes bowie plays sax on like 90% of albums.

  • @holzpusher DB is the sax you hear at the end of Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side".

  • @holzpusher DB is the sax you hear at the end of Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side".

  • @folder55 That's not Bowie on Lou Reed's Wild Side. It's Ronnie Ross, who taught Bowie the sax when he was young.

  • @aaplatypus BOWIE is a man of many talents..AWESOME...

  • @holzpusher Didn't he have sax with Mick Jagger?

  • @holzpusher U didn't know Bowie played saxophone on his knees? He also plays male organ, skin flute, bonaphone and the flesh horn too.

  • @holzpusher I don't think he has made an album where he doesn't play saxophone on.

  • Who asked if that was Brian May in the back ground you are 100% correct theirs no mistaking that red guild guitar and the signature mop of hair ,

  • haha, too much enthusiasm at the "suicide" at 0:22

  • It's the Freddie Mercury tribute gig at Wembley, from back in the 90's.

  • Does anyone know where ths was? Classic having Bowie & Hoople together. Great sound too. Even if on some shots there's that tiny delay / doppler effect. like yr there.

  • bravo.Ian's on tour now!5*

  • Is it Brian May I see in the background playing his guitar????????????

  • Well it says Mott The Hoople had a hit

with a song David Bowie wrote

  • @billyj50 ah you read the tin

  • @billyj50 maybe it waa a better version

  • DB only wrote this---and sang on the studio cut as well

  • haha, thats for you. its to all the young dudes. keep care of your selfe.....

  • i know im young but i love this song and i dont care about what people say this is beautiful "like" if you agree and this should have an itunes thing am i right :D

  • i like how brian may just kinda hangs out in the background. and i can see joe elliot going "come on, i'll just sing back up. please let me on stage!".

  • My personal favourite version, with fantastic musicians, and I especially like Mick Ronson on the guitar, RIP

  • who the hell dislikes this song?just wondering?

  • @robielv its impossible

  • This is totally irrelevant but it is very cool that in the state of North Dakota there are the towns of Mott and Hoople.

  • I didnt know Bowie played the saxophone! such a talented man. Respect

  • If you look in a real dictionary under cool, it would have a picture of Ian. He should run for a high political office in the US and beat all contenders. Ian, you have my vote.

  • DON'T FOR GET THE LEAD GUITARIST BRIAN MAY FROM QUEEN !!

  • @GAGE1959 actually the lead guitarist in this song is mick ronson... ;)

  • I'm just trying to figure how in the world this has 16 dislikes. How is it even possible to not like this song? I guess those 16 people should stick to Justin Bieber and Keisha.

  • @craigshufelt It's one of the best songs, but this isn't one of the best performances. Shame really - love both Bowie's & Mott the Hoople's version - wonder if their monitors are OK and they can hear themselves. Ought to be - it's a big enough gig.

  • That's Joe, with Phil Collen also of Leppard. Wow what a powerful performance of " The Anthem " as it's known people in the biz. Great, great, song. My all time fav.

  • That's Joe, with Phil Collen also of Leppard.

  • when i first heard this i thought it was john lennon & david bowie? there was no MTV...

  • GREAT live version of this classic song!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bowie had somthing funny to say to Ronson during the song. I wonder what it was?

  • There is so much talent on stage that it is almost scary!!! Looks like the stage could go down any time because talent overload!!!

  • One of the coolest guitar intros in rock/pop history!

  • OH HELL YA!!! The Crash Street Kids are coming to get ya!!!

  • I s this from the Fredie Mercury tribute concert? sorry i am wasted lol

  • a that time it was my first time i've seen Ian Hunter & Ronson on TV

  • This is beautiful! "The Ghost" (Mick Ronson) is everywhere...!

  • This is just beautiful!

  • always loved you guys dont have good talent no more

  • R.I.P Mick Ronson.

  • Ah, when MUSIC WAS MUSIC! Why did they forget how to write songs!

  • @Legolas2112 thats funny you said that?i just talking to my son 14 yea and said they today dont have a incline of what talent is?the music of our time brought you to a whole other place, these legends still crank em out,and these no imagination wanna bes copy ther beloved talent i dont know how many remakes ive heard its incredible!thanx 4 your attention and comment, much peace

  • Useless fact: Oasis' Noel Gallagher has sung this chorus at the end of 'Whatever' when played live

  • Very very nice. Guess everyone loved the hell outa freddie. No wonder.

I love him too. Ogre battle.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Man, after almost 40 years, this is still one hell of a song. Thanks to Bowie for giving it to Ian and the boys.

  • Joe Elliot and Phil Collen from Def Leppard - their Fave song

  • Brian May is on stage, too. Wasn't David Bowie involved with the original song?

  • @2003shaker I think he wrote the song on their behalf-he performed it himself on his 2004 Live Tour.

  • @2003shaker brian may is on stage as this is a freddie mercury tribute concert.it's not mott the hoople,it's Ian hunter and others jamming with Queen.and yes,you are correct, Bowie wrote this song.

  • Yes that is Joe Elliott :) Twas the Freddie Mercury concert....best celebration of Rock....EVER!!!

  • @Hummers73 And Phil Collen. Don't forget him!

  • Had the pleasure of seeing Mick Ronson, Ian Hunter and Bowie in the 70's at the old Glasgow Apollo. Great times. Still see Hunter when he comes to Glasgow and this song still one of the best. Can't believe Bowie offered them Drive in Saturday as a follow up and they said no!!

  • @DavidTransformer did`nt bowie offer them suffragete city which hunter said was crap

  • @unclemort1960 Believe he did offer Suffragette City before All The Young Dudes but Hunter didn't like it. Bowie was also so annoyed they turned down Drive In Saturday after "Dudes"that he shaved his eyebrows off in frustration. Mind you was a number 3 hit for him. Best song from Alladin Sane for me!

  • @DavidTransformer one of the best songs ever.

  • brilliant memory...

  • Good to see the brillinat Ronno!!!

  • I love the way most people spend their whole lives wondering what the meaning of life is while simultaniously carrying out completely meaningless task rendering their lives meaningless but even then you can still have a fun ride. Gotta love that speed jive!

  • this was an all star Freddie Mercury / queen farewell concert

  • Wow, the GREAT Mick Ronson!

  • Fantastic

  • This song is older than me(i'm 30!) and i've ALWAYS loved this tune, just an awsome song thast makes me wanna "rock out" everytime i hear it! ;)

  • Lived round the corner from his granny !!!!

  • WOW now that"s a Concert! How I wish i was there!

  • I am 14 and I was listening this when in tv came out a Camp Rock comercial. Why did l wish that i was born 30 years ago? ):

  • @ttererauld

Ah me too, I'm 15. I'll let you know when I've found a timemachine, deal?

  • @Emma8887 haha sure :)

  • bowie, joe elliot,brian may...hell yes

  • David Bowie is a talented musician!
