I brought 2 budgies about 4 days a go, and they were not tamed, I let them out of their cage everyday and I feed them myself, they are getting used to me quick.

Just try to gain their trust, stay near them all the time so they get used to you. hope this helps a little. =)

u r very lucky 2 have such a beautiful bird who loves u that much, i also had 1 who was blue color and i named him Tarzan bcause he enjoyed climbing things and jumping a lot...2day somhow he got outside and my neighbours cat ate him ;(, man was i crying a lot...me and my little sisters because we loved him a lot, and he also was as affectionate as your bird

I Have a Budgie too.. and i bought it for 2-3 months ago, and its very agressive,afraid, and it bites hard, sometimes it makes me bleed a little bit.. but it hurts :P How did u make your budgie so nice.. and unafraid ?

Find a bird store in your area and ask them for help. It sounds like your budgie hasn't had much training, or he was mishandled by a previous owner. Good luck.

no my budgies didnt have other owners before, i asked them for help in the petstore, they said that they didnt train them so much.

Oh, this one is a hard one to answer. I can only suggest persistance, and don't do any action that would scare them...

I've only had non-biters though - so I never had to train them OUT of biting. :-)

Also I bought Erwin (videoed above) when he just popped out of the nest, so in a way he was handreared - by me. He never "grew" the bad habits that some in the petshops might have because he was so young and impressionable when I got him. :-)

Sounds like you've got a lovely bird. :-) The little boy I bought after Erwin doesn't speak anywhere near as well, so it goes to show you some have the knack and others less so. He's also less interactive than Erwin was (who was very special) so i've just bought him a little girlfriend to keep him company. They are in love; it's so lovely to see. :-)

Now, Mica (my new budgie) is not so affectionate as to rub and cuddle in like Erwin did. Erwin used to curl up under your nose or chin and cuddle in and fall asleep, and he also used to kiss on demand, making the sounds. He'd also ask for kisses. The sadest thing is, I don't have that on video and now I know unique those actions were for a budgie - such intelligence and affection. I'm happy you liked it. :-)

My new budige is talking up a story now (although I'm waiting for his voice to become clearer) but when we first bought him after Erwin died it was strange not to have a talking budgie. But you grow to love them all the same, because even if they never talk they communicate with you and show affection and that was more than enough for me. I love birds; Incidently my budgie is talking quietly now to himself, but I can't quite make out most of the words. It souds gorgeous all the same. :-)

I don't know if they sell them anymore under that name, but they make similar items, with a very fine, super fine mist. I missed my speaking budgie "buzzy" he is goin be 13 years at one morning my parents called me that lyes dead in his home i was sooo shocked he was speaking german!! we grow up together! I missed him soo much! he was picking me everyday in the ear when i don't listen to him!!

I agree. We know how lucky we are to have such a sweet-natured affectionate little featherball. You hear a lot of people say that is you want an affectionate pet 'don't buy a bird' but i think that Erwin is proof against that twaddle! Not only is it clear to us that he trusts us but we can tell he loves us by his actions. We wouldn't trade him for any other pet!!!

I brought him up from a baby so i'm his mumma! I think that is why he trusts me so much :-) I love that he trusts and shows his affection for me! I'm actually creating another video with him talking and playing in water. We've got a lovely new cystal water fountain that he's already discovered he can hop in and get very wet! Thanks! He is a very sweet bird and very affectionate! He kisses on command too! Also when I have my face resting in my hand leaning on the desk to look at the computer screen he climbs up onto my hand and squishes himself into a ball with his head curled up into my eye socket area and falls asleep! We've got footage of it somewhere and it definately shows how affectionate he is so i'll have to go find it and put it up!

He's a cobalt blue budgie with type 2 yellow-faced gene. A budgie with a Type 1 gene just has the face yellow, however the type 2 gene results in the yellow spreading into his chest and wings. So because of the yellow gene suffusing the blue feathers, his chest feathers are different shades of teal & aqua. The further the feathers are away from his head the bluer they become. When you hold an individual feather up you can see that they are blue in the centre with aqua edges. He's very unique!

Yes he is special. We bought him from a breeder. I actually went up to his breeding boxes and saw Erwin flitting in and out of a box. The breeder hadn't even seen him yet!

He's a sigle pet. I originally bought him for his colour and his seemingly affectionate behaviour towards the other budgiea (which I think was a good hint towards his personality). YOu can train some budgies to talk, however we've never had to train Erwin. He just picks up the words from every day conversation and can often use them in context. There are some, but not many, budgies that can do that. So it was pure luck that we go a TALKING beautiful bird that never bites!
