  • People are hung up on the original line up because that's what was magical about them. Yes Billy is the main part, but it just isn't the same.

  • was Iha's amp even on?

  • its funny the 2 top comments contradict eachother

  • his guitar is for sale on ebay

  • Wtf is billy playing a les paul?

  • This is probably my favourite song from the album. Great performance!

  • Billy was a true rockstar. You don't see musicians that look like this anymore. It's all plaid shirts and Converse. He was a hell of a showman and he didn't even have to jump around like a lunatic.

  • @likeiis well you dio have people like him around now.......we still got billy corgon

  • @likeiis so true, i think that kids fixation on classic or old bands comes from the fact that the new ones are not convincing rock stars. You can have a plaid shirt and still own the stage, which is not to be confused with just plain posing or acting out some vid.

  • Is this 2000 year ?

  • I made a cool video with this song,it matches it right on point.gotta see it

  • Wow best performance ever on Letterman no doubt. True talent. Tight.

  • Melissa is so sexy...omfg

  • 0 dislikes, durrr!

  • what is it you want to change?

  • @guyanaboi122 my underwear after this video..

  • @ExisTencePerse hahaha ok

  • The only qualms I have with this performance is the lack of D'arcy. I miss the original SP quartet more than is probably healthy...

  • Ooooh Billys playing James's Silverburst

  • @DanielAdams18 no its his les paul jr copy. tobacco burst

  • @DanielAdams18 no its his les paul jr copy. tobacco burst

  • Nice shot of the World Trade Center at the end.

  • billy reminds me of voldemort lol

    anyways he's the greatest

  • the pumpkins were lucky with their original line up

darcy was present during the recording of machina and if she had also been there during the touring,i think machina would have been a success

  • great outfits!

  • james iha es uno de los mejores guitarristas que escuche

aparte que con billy se entienden a la perfecion

sorry billy but this not moment to smashing pumpkins back

  • They really nailed this performance! Love SP live! The album version doesn`t have quite the energy as this, I`d say...

  • i miss pumpkinsU_U

  • it's a shame that the whole machina concept got screwed up...would have been genius imo

  • Wow. Have to say I prefer this to the album version! It's just much more intense and just...better. That solo owns.

  • @Grotomode Billy was too busy worrying about his kick ass guitar solos

  • i really like the solo BC plays here.

  • sucks that james iha isn't in the pumpkins anymore

  • dito....

  • Aswell as Jimmy... </3

  • This sounds great.

  • I wished D'arcy stayed.

  • Beautiful. I think people get hung up on the original line up. But Corgan is the Smashing Pumpkins.

  • This was the best Pumpkins lineup with Melissa on bass.

  • I agree.

  • I like James´s suit here.

    what designer is that?

  • the way billie plays the solo is just amazing

  • wow you can so tell James does not want to be there

  • Not just James, Billy, and Jimmy as well, the only one who looks like they even wanna play was Melissa.. When they did that performance, Machina already flopped and Billy was already in talks of letting the band go. What a shame since it was a great album. Blue Skies Bring Tears still is an amazing song.

  • I really love it when they play this song a little bit different each time they play it live. :D

  • Darcy is definitely the hotest.

  • I liked both.

    whos the new one btw?

Ive hardly heard anything about her.

what band was she in before SP?

  • Ginger Reyes?

  • Melissa....She used to be in Hole! :P

  • thats melissa, darcy left before this...

  • I know. . . -.-

  • Auf Der Mar is a goddess

  • hey audience...ummmmmmmmmwhere?

  • why he has too good of a voice for them to not turn it up i can hardly hear him over the the guitar and drums

  • why doesn't Letterman do us ALL a favor and just retire already? the man clearly doesn't want to be there anymore, he's just grinding it out...

  • never heard this song before, and im a huge sp fan. been following them since 91 (but was homeless for 10 yrs) seen them before they got big (grew up next town over). love solo corgan and zwan all the more. ok so i have 3 ?s for somebody. 1) what year do u think this was 2) why is this song called 'I of the mourning' when all i hear him sing is 'radio, radio, radio....', and 3) who's the heavy drummer at 1:15 that looks like pro-golfer john daly, was this the guy that od'd or someone new?

  • prob late 2000, and i have no clue but its still an awesome song! and no its still jimmy

  • Billy looking like Nosferotu more than ever.

  • Yeah, Max Shreck jr hahaha!

  • i love this guitar solo, one of my favorites ever!

  • ..a nostalgic memory of james moves..

  • James is really good in this.

  • one of their more underated songs. is anyone counting?? they have how many hundreds of songs? trully impressive

  • Check out the version done at Musique Plus in Montreal. It's on Youtube.

  • brilliant

  • guitars are never too loud

  • HAHAHA! SO TRUE!

  • @sshell85 I disagree.

I've been to plenty of concerts where the guitars are too prominent in the mix, which makes for a less enjoyable music experience.

  • What's w/ all of the Mellisa hate! I think she's amazing.

  • FUCKING AMAZING!!!!! I FUCKING LOVE SMASHING PUMPKINS!!! MAD LOVE TO THE CORGAN!!!...lol how many times have they been on Letterman??:P

  • Not enough.

  • yes...tht is very true :P

  • Sherookie, with 4 comments, FTW!

  • really one of the pumpkins best and most underrated songs!! love the bit after "i have survived" when corgan and iha really get into it!

  • favorite part - BC is a poet

I sit in the dark light

    To wait for ghost night

    To bring the past alive

To make a toast to life

    Cause i have survived

  • @mihusky that's my favorite part too! actually the entire song is great.

  • I Always Thought Melissa's Bass Was A Bit Too Loud For Some Reason,You Can Always Hear It Slapping

  • great song but melissas bass sounds terrible

  • i always fall in love with billy when he sings " radio, play my favourite song" this is an amazinnnnggg song, especially live!

i prefer D'arcy and Ginger to melissa any day!

  • hell yeah!!

  • f-ing incredible. I was never a fan of melissa's bass sound with the pumpkins though. it's too in your face. I much prefer d'arcy and ginger's smooth, low tones

  • i much prefer just D'arcy :L:P but Ginger's iight i guess...if she gd enought to be one of the Smashing Pumpkins and gd enough for Billy Corgan to except....thn shes gd enough for me..:L:P

  • That's Melissa Auf De Maur, SO hot!

  • ooops srry....well either way i prefer D'arcy....but melissa and ginger are gd too i guess

  • ginger is definately the hottest

and this is a fuckin AWESOME performance

  • It is not Ginger. It is still Melissa but I still like D'Arcy.

  • wat do u mean?

  • Ginger is not the bassist on the video.

  • no i know that

people were just debating on whos hottest

    darcy melissa or ginger

  • i will go for d'arcy.

    sorry for the misunderstanding

  • its all good

  • still at the top of their game even as they were falling apart. they're all so into it at the end. james even seems to enjoy it.

  • Unbelievable. I hope the perform this in DC. The lyrics to this song are short and to the point, but the meaning is awesome.

  • great tune and performance. jimmy chamberlein is fucking unreal on drums.

  • My Fav performance of I of The Mourning by them.

  • keep searching then...this performance is not nearly as good as others. You could barely hear billys voice.

  • THATS KOOL

  • great
