  • He kind of looks like a serial killer.

  • spotlight i notice that

  • I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A HAMBURGER!. :-P

  • Search bars, calendars, RSS browser, etc, are the fundamental features of an operating system. Building an OS without that stuffs is just like telling a car maker to make a car without wheels steering wheels and windows.

  • you can barely understand what he's saying.

  • Well, you know what they say. Good artists copy, great artists steal.

    Ahem ahem applem...

  • stupid apple fans

  • The same old technologies are existing still today. But this has a reason:

How else should Windows 95 applications run on Windows 8?

  • I agree with this vid

  • Pro mac

  • Gates paid for dos that's history and sold it to IBM or was please if anything jobs and team apple did it late 70's and gates 90's did dos 6 with gay shell then windows so all you guys who are born from 1990 and have no brain which is most of you fucken ask a 60's or 70's guy. Rest get fucked...oh I had a vic20 back in 1982 snap you were in ya dads sacks...

  • how about mac steals from windows? ever though of that. started with apple 2.

  • Bitches please, everyone copies everyone. Thats how you stay competitive. Jeez.

  • Guys you realize im trying to just prove a point and say it is really f**king hard to come up with original ideas today.

  • i love it when he disses the logo but apple's has only changed colour in the last so many years

  • If you're competing with Apple and are a serious threat to them then you automatically "copy" them just like Microsoft and now, Android.

The comparasions made here are stupid and won't even get you anywhere in a lawsuit because they are manipulating things in a bad way to try and prove their point. Sort of like what they did when they photoshopped the iPad/iPhone pictures not too long ago in a lawsuit against Samsung or their recent lawsuits against Android now that its actually beating iOS.

  • @xRaIDeNx69 Maybe because the only real way to compete with Apple is TO copy them. I think you are putting the cart before the horse. One can debate the importance of the comparisons made here but there is no debating the fact that Microsoft underhandedly stabbed Apple (a trusted partner at the time) in the back and intentionally ripped them off when creating Windows. There is no debating the fact that it was Apple that changed the mobile phone indust and Google simply copied Apple's approach.

  • Accent of this guy who present after Steve Jobs was so idiot. Thumbs up if you think so..

  • Let me name a few things apple has copied from other companies:

    1. They copied office to make keynote, pages, etc

    2. color, windows got that first

    3. the ios 5 drop down menu, that is googles idea

    4. the tablet, microsoft invented the tablet back in 2002

    5. the mouse, xerox invented that

    6. the graphical user interface, another xerox invention

So i think you can see that apple copies other companies too

  • @KuangSteak iWork is simply the new version of AppleWorks which is older than office

  • @KuangSteak Not saying that Apple does not occasionally adopt others ideas but lets clarify a few things:

    1. As @kaielmonroe stated Appleworks was released in 1984 Office in 1989

    2. The Apple II released in 1977 had color. Windows 1.0 was not released till 1985

    3. Apple invented the drop down menu as part of the Mac & Lisa GUI LONG before Google existed.

    4. Microsoft did not invent the tablet. Apple didn't either but they began working on one in 1987 which became the Newton.

    Cont.

  • @DaveTV2 BTW newton was not a tablet, it was an oversized pda

  • @KuangSteak I am aware of that. If you read a bit into the history of the Newton, you will see that What Apple originally set out to make was a tablet computer. One early model was the size of an A4 piece of paper and had a hard drive. It was eventually sized down into an "oversized pda" as you put it. Personally I feel a tablet and a PDA are the same things. Look up the definition of a tablet and the Newton fits. The only difference is size. But look how small some "tablets" coming out now are.

  • @DaveTV2

Actually you can't use the term "over sized PDA", since it was Apple who coined that term "Personal Digital Assistant" with the release of the Newton. So anything else would be an "undersized Newton" :)

  • To finish:

Both 5 & 6. Xerox did not invent either Douglas Engelbart did. Xerox simply took what he had created and advanced it as a way to make documents for their laser printers. It was not a typical OS. Apple advanced what they did just as Xerox had done previously and transformed it into a typical OS as we know it by innovating MANY things that make an OS like the trash can, drop down menus, overlapping windows, drag and drop and many more that you use daily. MS simply copied that!

  • @KuangSteak #2 Nope, Apple started with color on the Apple ][ series. That's why Apple chose the 6 color logo.

'The Apple II had color and high-resolution graphics modes, sound capabilities and one of two built-in BASIC programming languages (initially Integer BASIC, later Applesoft BASIC).' from Wikipedia @ wikipedia. org / wiki / Apple_II_series

  • @battlekhan some people dont know that mac os was made before windows.! great reply!

  • I need Microsoft to stopped doing Microsoft Office for a Mac computer since today and stopped having send update and let Apple work on their own Office suite and have a look how Apple gonna feel.

  • Here it's apple

  • Bill gates' greatest invention is his daughter....... he so copies mac!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh and isn't it funny how the mac os x lion mail app copied the windows live mail app...

  • @jjoeshaw hahahaha what you smoking matee

  • @Jullzzzz It's true though, they integrated the search into the bottom left hand corner because it's the place where the start menus been for ages and where you explore the system...

  • On the bottom left? You mean where the start menu's been for ages?

  • They look nothing alike...

  • well yeah vista really sucks balls

  • @meethajhu wait... What do u think is such a fail... Microsoft sucks!

  • @meetajhu what? What do u think is a fail

  • Apple is way better than Microsoft.. And always will be!

  • @Heroguyjk fail!

  • @Heroguyjk HA

  • I have to agree with this video. I like Windows 7 though. But on a Mac it looks... better..

  • that guy sounds weird

  • Bertrand Serlet is a genius. Respect.

  • Rip Steve Jobs

  • errors of this guy:

windows made the instant search first.

Why did microsoft fail on copying the calendar of mac colors? because they didn´t want to do it.

You are talking about windows logo? look at all apple logos xD

Fail on activacion?Don´t get a pirate copy of windows -.-

    R.I.P. Steve Jobs

  • @MFSR98 Agree on on all points besides the activation since ALOT of people had issues with legal copies that would not activate.

  • @WARP10CK oh really? I didn´t have any problems.

  • @MFSR98 Well I live in Europe and sometimes Windows accused me of Piracy even though I had a genuine full retail version of vista ultimate. The code just would not work it happened to me on several occasions there was even a support thread for it on ms forums.

  • @WARP10CK HELLO, if u get a genuine copy of windows u don´t need to write the key to activvate the sistem -.-

  • Je suis français, et l'accent de Bertrand Serlet est hyper exagéré ! C'est super culotté de parler comme ça anglais à ce niveau de hiérarchie. J'adore.

  • Introducing macintosh

  • I'd still rather have Windows :)

  • 3:07 Windows 7 Logo :O

  • @funnybee2 you have to admitt that REGISTRY AND DLL are OBSOLETE, but

START AND FILE MENAGMENT like CUT COPY RENAME in explorer are not present in MAC

  • @MrRadpolon Copy and Rename are both present in Finder. Cut is not.

  • Lol "If you can't innovate, imitate" I should show this to my friends who think windows is so great.

  • @SwordsmasterMarth It's what Apple did!

  • WTF...can anyone understand this dude? Oui Oui...oooh la la!

  • So if Apple create something, Microsoft shouldn't be allowed to use any kind of similar technology? What if one company wanted to "own" the internet, or "own" the use of a calendar in their OS interface? Face it, if companies weren't allowed to appropriate other companies' products then all we would be left with are fragmented devices. If Microsoft did not have any creativity inside them then they wouldn't get anywhere.

  • I get where they are coming from but really? Apple has been copy cating many of it's features and UI itself from Linux in the first place. Hell they buy everything innovative and call it "theirs".

  • @sk8dudejames Yeah whatever... go play with your Registry and your DLL files.

  • @johanzenandersen

Are you a fucking moron I never said I used Windows dumb ass, I was talking about Linux, which is what I use (And OS X for photoshop and garageband) Linux is unix based, only Windows has DLL hell.

Now move along child before your stupid rubs off on me.

  • since when does not change mac, mac has been the same shit and windows is sacrificed to change the visual, appearance, etc.

  • well.. microsoft is not the one that is up to their necks in legal desputes about patent law, and copying chips and tech from all over the world... Nokia is just one of the big ones that has their transmitter-tech copied inside the first two iPhones. So that's nice. And "slide to unlock".. really? :DD

  • This was a dick move.

  • this entire video is just about stroking his own ego.

This is worthless except for fanboys to praise it

  • This video really shows how stupid and ductile Apple fans are...

  • @TheMumppa Like windows fans.

  • @TheMumppa More like... how microsoft continues to steal from apple over and over again.

  • @TheMumppa

you need to look at the history of windows and apple and try to understand why they hate each other.

bill gates once worked for apple but copied apple and created windows.

also (about 15 years ago) steve jobs tried to give every american school a free 'Apple 2' computer but Microsoft stopped Apple from doing it.

  • @hyylo To be clear, Bill Gates never worked directly FOR Apple as an actual "employee". Bill Gates / Microsoft were hired as outside contractors to write software and applications for Apple. Lots of people out there see to think he at one point was employed by Apple but that is not the case. Your point is accurate though. There is a long history there and Steve Jobs had every right to be pissed, hold a grudge or make fun of their crappy products publicly.

  • @DaveTV2 how was mac os a pos?

  • @Jullzzzz Not sure I follow your question. If by "pos" you mean Piece of Shit I for one certainly would have never said such a thing.

  • @TheMumppa I'm an Apple fan but I'm not stupid and ductile. I like the Windows 7 and Windows 8 environment (I hate Vista though), but on any day I would pick Mac OS X over Windows because I like it more. I know that there are Apple fans like this, but I wanted you to know not ALL of us are stupid.

  • @TheMumppa Or how ignorant you are, that you can't see that Windows copy Apple.

  • @TheMumppa shows how cheap windows fans are

  • @ladyliongaga It's not that Windows fans are cheap- I'm on a windows computer right now. The only reason not a lot of people have apple computers is because they are overpriced. Theres no reason why a computers should be $1000. lol

  • This is why Apple is better than Microsoft.

  • I almost cant understand that guy...

  • esto es ridículo

  • Sad to see how neither of these guys will be working with Mac OS X again.

  • course it was a Steve Jobs quote that says "An artist creates, a great artist steals"

That quote was about when he stole the mac os off of Xerox

  • @qoaa

Technically he didn't steal from Xerox. Xerox got 100.000 Apple shares in return for demoing their system.

Xerox did not understand how valuable the GUI is. Steve Jobs did.

  • @qoaa Actually steve got that quote from Picasso...

  • god! please gives us back steve Jobs and we will you sent you bill "fuckin" gates !

  • @TheDermensch no, send Justin Bieber, Gates and Jobs are both good friends and both compete with each other. nobody likes Bieber.

  • I was actually feeling sorry for him, but now...

  • what kind of bullshit propaganda !

  • this is truly not nice of apple

  • @sohigh10 Why not speak your mind, this is the truth, cold fact on our screens.

  • @MMOTotal true, but they don't have to rub it in that they are better

  • @sohigh10 It's not worse than Ballmer, that's for sure.

"The I-Phone will fail, Windows Phone is years ahead" - Steve Ballmer

"The MacBook air is heavier than my Toshiba" - Steve Ballmer

"Mac OSX is the worst OS i have seen" - Steve Ballmer

The lists goes ever on, this is Apple getting some pay back :)

  • hmm, don't like this kind of cynic talks. Even though Steve is the person who made Apple so good for some, i personally switched from mac because disliked his manners.

  • @thexeesus lol. what a fuckwit you are

  • @Epikaiigh lol. that's ur mama

  • Apple when they weren't pointlessly being retards.

  • Not only MS loves to copy Apple (actually everything what does not belong MS originally), but also needs to copy because they practically doesn't have anything to offer except copying, just redesigning the interface and pushing out.... If there isn't any possibility to copy, then MS is practically DEAD.

  • yeah!!! youre so right steve and steves friend :)!!!!

  • One word F*CK YOU!!!

  • Yep MS copied ideas as did Apple, the Windowing environment was not created by Apple it was created by Xerox PARC in 1980 as was the mouse. So Apple people can get off their high, "I'm superior to you" horses and actually learn something about computing, rather than showing their ignorance, and perpetuating garbage for other Apple users to learn. Windows = choice, Apple = no choice

  • @markra spot on!

  • @markra The mouse was not created by Xerox, nor was the GUI. Both were invented by Douglas Engelbart. Xerox simply took what he did and transformed it into a GUI interface to make documents for their new laser printers. Likewise, Apple took that and transformed it into a traditional OS as we know it. They all deserve credit for their individual contributions. Laying all the credit at the doorstep of Xerox is incorrect. MS then came along, added nothing and simply copied what Apple had done.

  • Underneath it all... its still windows! haha

  • @iJergreen Microsoft observing Apple: "That is awesome! Now how can we take that and make it less user friendly so people think it's more powerful?"

  • @YUKONH0 well said! Games is a tried, old, outdated, childish and frankly very lame argument.

  • O_O

  • Löpparddd

  • Awesome. Take that Microsoft

  • @papapapa2010 win7 wasnt even out yet.

  • @papapapa2010 are you retarded

  • they also copied the background

  • safari & IE got same common point is both of browser are noob & not smooth

    no like Firefox

  • Comment removed

  • @papapapa2010 Um, this was PRE-VISTA!!

  • @CJMilsey I meant when it came out or when the beta came out

  • @papapapa2010 This was the release of Vista. Win7 wasn't even thought of. Not to mention the only way Win7 was so great was from copying OSX even more. Win7 is a great OS. OSX has been a great OS for years.

  • french guys english sounds terrible.... hard to hold back my puke

  • lol these mac fags are so funny

  • "If you cannot innovate, then you can only imitate."

    hahahahahha XD

  • cry all you want...windows can run high end games and mac cant :P

  • Steve at MacWorld 1997: "We have to get rid of this notion that for Apple to win, Microsoft has to lose."

It's sad that no one at Apple understands that other than Steve.

  • @soulsilver2010 Too true.

  • Microsoft probably could've sued for slander after this.

2:06 THEY COPIED AN OPEN STANDARD!!!!!1! WHAT DO WE DO NOW?!?!?!?!?!

  • Hmm... this makes me wanna buy a Mac again.

  • Bertrand is a cool guy

  • @dagr8master heck im using vista and laughing at dll hell

  • Ironic that they ridicule activation when you can't run OSX on any hardware but an official Apple mac but you can run Vista on any x86 hardware including a mac. How is activation more controlling?

  • Apparently the effort of speaking English causes his eyes to open at asymmetrical rates

  • @kookieless yes i know, a friend of me who hates mac wrote this.

  • Windows also still has a command line before everything else.

  • Comment removed

  • Vista is cool and Win7 ist the best OS ev

  • @Windestroy1 nope sorry your wrong

  • The only reason people buy macs now adays is because they make their computers out of fancy aluminum and metallic looking ui

  • What is wrong with that guy?

  • @AllThat0611 Hi is French with that accent ....

  • Remond, start your photocopiers!! :P

  • @Donavan29ty Xerox PARC, Thanks for the GUI!

  • @xsirenonthe101x You are thanking the wrong party for the GUI. If you are going to thank someone for the concept of the GUI [and invention of the mouse] it should be the father of the GUI Douglas Engalbart. If you want to thank someone for taking the work he did, advancing it and utilizing it as an interface to make documents for laser printers then you can thank Xerox. If you want to thank someone for transforming that into a traditional OS then you need to thank Apple who did exactly that.

  • Hey Bertrand, you missed the even more well loved Blue Screen of Death.

  • For an avid Mac Fan, I'll admit that much of what I hated about Vista isn't Microsoft, it's OEMs dumb enough to install it on machines that simply weren't powerful enough. Granted, having a computer in 2007 with 1 GB of RAM wasn't a rare occurrence of and asking it to run a recent OS wasn't an exactly unfair request. I only got okay performance on 2 GB by turning almost everything off...including things that OS X runs seamlessly.

  • أطلق واحد :d

  • 1:11

That is the worst comparison I've ever seen, hahahaha!

  • Bertrand Serlet kinda looks like the guy in Terminator.

  • tooo bad windows beat up apple for ever

  • @ao0xa Beat up? As of today, the PC's market share has shrank 1%.

  • i like him more than Steve.

  • If this movie is 100% correct, then think of the following:

A: Yahoo! created a widgets application way before Mac computers got a dashboard and before Windows got the sidebar gadgets.

B: Mail and Calendar applications have been available from Mozilla, Outlook and Google for far longer than Apple made their own.

C: Spotlight. Really? Windows have had a search index for years, and Google Desktop Search does too.

All in all, this movie is just a bunch of Apple users' jealousy of Windows Vista

  • @iamryanwalpole Jealous of Windows Vista? You are kidding? Windows Vista is well known to be the worst operating system ever made. It's clunky, slow and crash prone. Windows 7 is basically a service pack for vista but it is much much better. I love Windows 7, but with the introduction of OSX Lion soon, ill be making the switch.

  • @jmcphee7 I absolutely HATE vista. But it doesnt change that this video shows a point that's invalid. Thousands of third party apps developed shit like this ages ago! So technically both Apple and Windows are both copying other third party developers.

  • Cool, now try do one for Windows 7

  • @thedaring1s Windows 7 is just a slightly improved version of vista.. Still sh*t

  • @thedaring1s watch?v=QmmpouwxnSo

  • Comment removed

  • That is why everyone likes Windows!!!

  • The dll hell. ROTFL

  • he has an amazing voice :D

  • Am I the only one who started laughing when he started talking?

  • Notice Apple hasn't said a word about Windows 7. I dunno how I feel about these people anymore, Microsoft, doesn't take shots at at Apple. This guy is a bigot, elitist asshole. I don't have a problem with Apple products, only the few owners of the products who are elitist assholes, and Steve Jobs. Not for what he says about Vista, but he used to talk shit about PC, even back when Mac computers, really did suck. Since Intel they're great, too closed for me, but good none the less. Eh.. douchebag.

  • @TvVideoStation WRONG, hes German... you can hear the ¨ze¨ french dont pronounce this word!

  • why did Jobs let a drunk French guy do the comparison?

  • All I Heard Was 'Blah.. Blah.. Blah..', Man, You gotta learn to talk.. :D

  • Did they make a video about how Windows copied the Mac Dock into the Windows 7 taskbar?

  • Apple is for showing off

    Windows is for work

I don't care who invented it, i want an OS with the most efficient user acces, not the glossiest..

Last time i lol'ed @ a mac, was at the "install firefox" screen..

A window appears with big FF icon, and next to it a App Folder icon.. now you have to drag the FF onto the App Folder icon. is it me..or is that totally ridicilous?...

    Here's an idea..what about a window with a "install Firefox"-button ^_^

  • @jotbot76 Sorry lnx users, i bet Linux is amazing aswell..

  • @jotbot76 you do realize that it is completely up to Mozilla to make a .pkg file to install firefox with an installer on OS X instead of supplying a .dmg which has the App file only that needs to be dragged into the app folder and not up to Apple?

  • @Artey86 - yea you're right...but still it's not only FF..other osx apps use same method.. dunno why..

  • Most of Apple OS's features are copied from Linux distros anyway! Apple is a pathetic company, always pretending to be something they are not!

  • I can relate so much of this between iOS and Android. Except Apple just pretends they invented it.

Take the new notifications feature from iOS5 from example. They said they invented a new revolutionary way to show notifications, but it is a picture perfect imitation of the Android notiication system!

  • @Fishheadofdoom Apple doesn't claim its iOS features are revolutionary, they just say there way is the best and easiest to use. Microsoft says nothing, copies apples features but doesn't make it quite the same OR better.

  • @blaixx992 Are you serious? I've heard Steve Jobs throw around the word 'revolutionary' during keynotes and interviews more times than I can count!

And say what you want, but I think Windows 7's implementation of the dock is a hell of a lot better and more functional than Apples.

  • Until some years ago you could not copy paste files in OSX..

And you can still not make a bat-like shortcut that opens another program with paramters.. you have to do that manually in console.. wich does not make sense

  • @jotbot76 Or... You could just use the Automator App.
