  • Utterly beautiful- I only heard this for the first time at the Barbican last night in the first BBC SO Sibelius symphony cycle concert. Every new Sibelius work I hear becomes my new favourite!

  • Great translation!

  • I find this the most touching ,clear and poetic version I ever heard!!!

    Every phrase,dynamic,color is there.Wonderful .

  • Beautiful version, almost the best I have heard of this touching tone poem.

  • @cyphicle Phyllis Bryn-Julson is amazing here. I think it's because she exudes such a natural sound - she doesn't unduly dramatize, but rather lets the beauty of her voice help the drama of the story unfold.

  • @edgluhrs yes, excellent description. I join your point completely. I knew Mari Anne Haggander's version which reaches the very same standard.
